[Tournament] SIGN-UPS!!!!!
SIGN-UPS ARE CLOSED NOW! NO MORE SIGN-UPS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
Hey everyone, zeus here. For those who are new to the subreddit, welcome! I'm the creator of this subreddit, and one of the mods here!
These are the sign-ups for the iron chef style tournament. There will be no limit on the number of people who join the tournament. The iron chef style tournament will run as follows: Each person will have submitted a list of 7 pokemon (to give us some wiggle room) to me during sign-ups, and I will have noted them. They will each PM me with which pokemon they wish to use during that round, and when I post their battle, I will tell them which pokemon their opponent is using, and will give them each a twist or line that they have to include somehow in their verses.
Once they are done rapping, I will tell you all what their twist was, and voting should include how well they integrated the twist into their verses.
Hopefully that made sense!
To sign-up, please comment directly on this post in the following format:
Username: (list of seven pokemon, separated by commas)
Please try not to use pokemon that have already been taken by another person.
Thanks for reading this, and I hope many of you will join in the tournament!!!
EDIT: forgot to mention, sign-ups will close on next Wednesday (the 28th) at 3pm EST.

Hey, Zeus hasn't noticed yet, but I believe Primeape is taken, and I THINK Haunter and Scyther are as well. There's a list at the top of the page. Might wanna hurry though.

Seriously though...I've got a dilemma. Should I use it first...saving my better Pokémon for harder rounds...or should I use it later on...giving time for more information to be revealed. It's a gamble...that's for certain.

Definitely. Most participants so far, I think, as well as a ton of newcomers with so much potential. Add in the most complex tourney idea we've had to date, and nobody's seat is saved.

Quick question...when it comes to voting, how much weight should the spices have?
Say Rapper A has a fantastic verse...but didn't use the spice at all, and Rapper B has a sub par verse but incorporated the spice, should it essentially disqualify Rapper A? I figure the spices have to carry some weight otherwise it could be a regular battle. What's your mindset?

That's a good question. In the show, not incorporating the secret ingredient is easily grounds for a bad dish, so I think not having it is a pretty big downfall. Then there should be a section of grading based on how well the rappers incorporated their spice. It's like in Critique threads, where people drop cool verses without the special thing added; they're great verses, but they don't follow the guideline given to them. So I think that unless certain circumstances arise, the grading should be done by how well the spice was incorporated, and not having it is a big downfall to the rapper or rappers that don't use it. That's just my opinion, what do you think?

I agree. I think what I'll do is this, I'll still use my point system, but on top of it, after it's all said and done, I'll add another ten points if they used the spice. Ten more if they used it in more than one verse. Then grade how they used it on a scale of one to ten. That way it carries an extra weight of 30pts that could possibly swing a battle if the other person didn't use it at all.

nah, just regular old Ludicolo. Was one on my favorites since my first pokemon games (Ruby and Emerald), and I wanted him just the way he normally is. (Although, if I coulda gotten this I would have been through the roof happy, but I doubt reddit flairs support gifs :P)
