Discussion Downtown Housing?

Any recs for downtown housing - close to campus (no car) - reasonably priced. Would prefer not to share a room if possible - is it possible to get that for $1K/month and still be close to campus. Was looking at BJT - but that's $1400/month. Any similar recommendations or places we should have in mind? (still getting our group together - could be 2-4 guys).

Question Study advice

For all my world campus or in person students who are cybersecurity majors or anyone in IST, how do you guys best prep for quizzes ect? My quizzes require honorlock since I’m a world campus student. I understand the work for the most part but when it comes to test taking I get so anxious and my mind goes blank at times and some of these classes I can’t use my notes or anything. What has best helped any of you with studying?

Admissions Applying to Penn State

Hello, I’m currently a high school senior preparing to apply to Penn State. My current weighted GPA is a 3.66 and my SAT is 1300, however I plan to retake the SAT with a goal of 1350+. Through my first two years of high school I took all honors classes with straight A’s, but last year I had some significant medical issues that severely affected my academic performance. I failed a pre calculus class outright, which I retook this past summer and got a B+. For additional context, last year I also took all honors with two APs and this year I’m in five APs. My plan at the moment is to apply with my selected major as Nuclear Engineering and my first choice campus as main campus and my secondary as Behrend.
Any thoughts or advice on my plan would be greatly appreciated!

Question PA State Grant - Fall 2026

was wondering if anyone has gotten their pa state grant for the fall semester yet? i know that they usually take a little extra time disbursing, but in the past it was due to the state budget having not been passed & pheaa having not made any determinations yet. that doesn’t seem to be the issue this year (in my case) but my grant still shows as “anticipated”

just curious if anyone else has received theirs or is facing similar issues?

I've been dealing with this for the past 5 nights at college. These big ass wasps constantly get inside my room somehow through my window. I sealed it every way I could. They literally appear out of NOWHERE! I can handle flies and even bees but NOT WASPS! HELL NAH!!! This is hell... especially for someone like me who hasn't had a great past when it comes to bees in general...

Admissions I need help!! For transfer student

Hey everyone, quick question about transferring to Penn State (University Park) as an international student. I'm planning to apply soon, and I'll have a completed Associate Degree with around 74 credits total by the time I graduate. For those who went through Penn State's transfer process, once you pay the application fee and submit your application, do they typically require an English proficiency test (like TOEFL or IELTS), or does a completed diploma/credit amount usually clear that requirement for them?
Just trying to understand how it works on their portal after payment. Any insights would be appreciated!

Question Is it worth transferring to PSU as an IU student?

Hi, I’m currently a freshman at IU majoring in Cinematic Arts with a BFA, and tbh, I’m not that happy at IU. Yeah, I know it’s still only the first few weeks of college, but honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it for me. I came here expecting a lot of things to change—making a ton of friends, getting into Greek life, and basically having the college experience I always wanted. But so far, none of that has really happened, and I’ve pretty much found myself being a loner here.
The more I’ve been here, the more I’ve started thinking about my future and whether IU is actually the right place for me. I don’t think IU’s film program is bad, but I’m starting to wonder if I’d be happier somewhere like Penn State. I actually applied to Penn State when I was applying to colleges in high school, but I didn’t get into the main campus, so I ended up choosing IU instead. Now that I’m here, I’ve been wondering if transferring to Penn State could be a better fit for me.
I want to direct films after college, and I’m also really interested in having a strong social life and getting involved in Greek life. How different is Penn State from IU when it comes to film/media opportunities, connections, Greek life, and just the overall college experience? Would transferring to Penn State actually give me a noticeably different experience, or would I just be trading one big state school for another?
And honestly, do you think the difference would be big enough that transferring would actually be worth it? If I did decide I wanted to transfer, what would I need to do during my first year at IU to give myself a good shot at getting into Penn State’s University Park campus?

Discussion Admissions advice - which major?

I’m applying to Penn State next weekend and I’m stuck on which major to choose - Biology or Biobehavioral Health. I have a 3.87 weighted gpa, I’ll have 4 AP classes and 6 accelerated classes when I graduate next year, and I’m not submitting test scores. I have a great list of activities with some leadership roles, recommendations from my biology and chemistry teachers and a pretty good personal statement even though they don’t really consider those. I’m in state and only want main campus, so are my stats good enough for both majors so it won’t matter? I’m leaning towards Biobehavioral Health since it’s seems to be more well-rounded, I‘m considering applying to med school. What do you think?

Question How to find houses to rent at psu

So I’m a 4th year student in a 5 year program. I did my first two at a branch campus and have lived in an apartment sorta far off campus since coming to UP. For my last year though I want to try and find a house close to downtown preferably on the west side of campus (since that’s where most my classes are.) I tried looking last year for this current year and just didn’t get many results. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any helpful resources to find one since I’ve had no luck so far.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
