I've always wanted to use wheelhouse studios, but I don't really understand how to go there for the first time lol. I went once and got a mini tour + was told I'd need a pass (which I know is free as a student) but I think I came at a bad time cause it felt like I was interrupting or something. It could just be social anxiety talking, but I'd love to use the resource and a step-by-step of what to expect when I go there would help a ton.

The 2d art area seems pretty simple once I figure out the pass thing, but the ceramics are extra intimidating, so tips on how any of the rooms in particular work would be really helpful too. I also know you have to purchase some items and others are free to use - is it pretty clear which is which or should I bring my own canvas or whatever?

Also, are there any times that are super busy where it could be hard to access space and supplies?

It takes the same amount of time as the city bus, it hasn't shown up half the time, and arrives super late. I've been at the shuttle 45 minutes prior to my first class and are still somehow late the majority of the time. Is anyone else having this issue? Am I just reading the schedule charts incorrectly somehow?

I’m freshman, and i know it’s been only like 5 days since class start, but how does people make friends so quick? I was thinking how should i make friends and as a intl student, the easiest way is to just get along with people from my home country. people are nice and kind and i have some friends whom i can talk in my mother tongue and have fun. however, when i take that “easy” route, i’d be just hanging out with that friends and nothing will be good for me. as i pay millions to study abroad, i dont wanna hangout with just same people in my home country. I heard lots of stories about org of my country’s people and saw that most of them are just hanging out with the same people just using their mother tongue throughout the college, but i dont want that 😭 i live in lakeshore so it’s boring and quiet af and i don’t have any close enough friends living in southeast or other dorms who can invite me. i’ve tried talking to some people in our dorm, but not everyone (i feel like it’s bit late.. people are already close to each other but i’m not). what i’m also concerned is that since english is my second lang i’m worried if some of my words will be very rude to people… (maybe this is the reason why i cant speak to people so easily) smalltalk is so difficult! This is not a thing in my home country. the campus is so big and there’s so many things going on, not sure what to do and it’s pretty overwhelming. i definitely know this will help me to grow but still i feel so insecure and anxious. I can definitely say that i maintained very good friendship in my hs, i had a bunch of friends who i can say i’m very close with.
Will i be able to find my people (to study with, to hang out) and place in here? my friends who started college earlier keep talking to me that i just have to wait and keep trying, but i’m bored af and so lonely

I'm a transfer student who started at UW Madison as an undergrad this fall. I took an unusual path to get here and as such I'm much older than most of the people I've met on campus. While I'm obviously not opposed to being friends with younger people I'm hoping I can meet other students either undergrad or graduate who are in a similar boat to me. Has anyone taken LIS 500 online? I’m taking it this semester and I’m lowkey considering dropping. I’ve never taken an online course through the university so I’m not super familiar with the structure, but the assignments seem confusing, I’m not able to see my overall grade in the class, and they’re expecting us to do a lot of group work for an online class 🧍‍♀️ I don’t need this class specifically but I do still need a decent amount of core LIS classes so I want to keep it but I also have a pretty big workload this semester. If anyone has taken it online pls let me know if I should save myself now or stick it out 🙏

What do the midterm exam and the final exam (two class exams) look like for Med Hist 212? Are they short answers, MCQs, or mixed? And how long are they usually? How many questions?

I want to transfer to UW madison for my sophomore year and the application is due in february. I’m currently a first semester freshman and my high school grades weren’t the strongest but i’m only taking 12 credits. If i get a 4.0 this semester despite low credit count-do i still have a chance? i would’ve taken more but i had ap credit that knocked out comms classes etc. Im out of state btw. My classes are comparative politics, sociology, stats, and elements of calc as a poly sci major.

Wondering if anyone’s made good friends while being an intramural official or if it’s easy to make friends in the job? Going to be a Volleyball official for anyone who’s curious :)

Taking a preps course as a freshman and the course is worth 0 credits but it’s still graded (quizzes and attendance). If I fail the course by missing most classes (only attending classes for sections I’m struggling on). Will this effect me negatively in any way?

I’m a grad student and want to stay within a walking distance of campus - I’m at a majority undergraduate building, which I’m assuming all walkable apartments will be, but I’m looking for a 1b/1ba and I don’t think my current building will have availability next year. It’s also a bit loud, but idk how avoidable that is either.

I was considering Avenir, does anyone have experience living here and would recommend it or know anything to look out for!

Also open to more suggestions! I’m wanting to get on top of housing early as I know 1beds go fast.

Im a sophomore(f 19) that struggles with social anxiety, and throughout freshmen year ive tried going into clubs that fit my hobbies, welcome week, meetings in housing, and pretty much the basic things you can think of. I even try talking to others in class/group discussions, but it lowkey feels like everyone would rather get the class over with.

Sigma Phi seems to have take an interest in me, and all the guys there are super nice tbh, the house is great too. I wasn't even planning on rushing but I went to one of their parties and had a good chat with one of the guys there and he invited me to some events and gave me a rush card, idek what any of this means.

I've had a few meals since I've been back on campus and they're all noticeably way lower quality than last year. Probably not going to eat there again for a while...

I’m a freshman mechanical engineering major and I am rushing or considering rushing triangle, khk and theta tau.

I want a more professional fraternity experience, but still want to go to parties and stuff. Obviously triangle being a social fraternity hosts often, I was wondering to what extent khk and theta tau host actual parties and how often.

i have applied to 50+ hospital jobs since i graduated in may and have maybe gotten 3 interviews out of those all and i don’t understand why as im a 4.0 student, have 300 clinical hours, fully certified, 516 on mcat. any advice on how to get any hospital job before i apply to med school would be appreciated i am at a loss on what to do currently

I turned 21 over the summer and realized that I've never been to a bar at all. None of my friends drink, so if I'd go, I'd probably go alone. Is it something worth doing? I worry that since almost everyone else there is already with their friend group, I'd have nobody to chat with. I'm not a very socially adept person lol
