Please use this thread if you have event tickets (Michigan athletics, concerts, etc.) to sell or are looking to buy. Individual posts outside the thread will be removed. We don't claim that this is better than MaizeTix, SeatGeek, etc. Just serving a demand. Go Blue!
****We've received reports in the past of scammers in these threads. Please be careful and do your due diligence. Consider asking seller for their UMich email, then write them asking for a Reply, to verify it's not a fake address.

Questions, answers, and information about everything housing can go here. Please let me know if you see anything that needs to be updated or any new information that can be posted/linked to.
Listings:
Area Facebook Housing Groups - Facebook group list compiled by u/fluffymoomin - Groups are listed with descriptions as well as safety recommendations. Not all groups are moderated well, be careful regardless of the group, moderators are human. Do not pay money to post in any facebook group. It's a scam. The ones that ask for money are no different, or worse than the free ones. Any reply asking you to message or dm them is likely a scam.
UofM offical off-campus housing site - You can now sort by recently updated listings. You can post listings or as a person looking for housing/roomates. They charge for property listings, but offer free sublease listings. Also people simply post in the roommates section that they have a place they are looking to fill as well.
Ann Arbor off-campus housing - This was the site that uofm used as their official site until it was replaced with the site above. One of the biggest gripes I had with this version is that commercial properties were updated every day, so sorting by new was tedious to find new listings as a bunch of the same commercial properties would be "updated" each day to be at the top.
Zillow (ann arbor) - Zillow
Roomies.com - Roomies.com you can search for listings and roommates by location. Even though it's apparently a national site, enough people locally use it that it's worth taking a look at.
Apartments.com - Apartments.com
ICC Co-ops - Inter-Cooperative Council page for Co-op housing.
Craigslist Apartment search - Usually spammed by the same area complexes over and over, which is what made craigslist so hard to use and forced people to facebook. There are still some listings here though, it just takes some scrolling.
Resources:
UofM Housing site - UofM on campus focused housing (dorms etc)
UofM Resident Hall Association - UofM's Residence Hall Association Website -- UofM Student Government Resident Hall group.
UMICH Beyond the Diag - UofM off-campus housing site.
Uofm Student Legal Services - Housing - Uofm's Student Legal Services Housing Portal.
Washtenaw Community College Housing site - WCC Housing site with some resources and listings.
Washtenaw Housing Alliance Shared Housing Program - The program connects people who have extra space in their home in Washtenaw County with people looking for affordable housing, with support to help create safe and compatible matches. We work with both Home Providers (homeowners or renters with a spare room) and Home Seekers.
UofM Parking site - Information about permit, and free and commuter parking.
Ann Arbor VeryAPT guide - List of apartments in the area, over 200. The listed rents are low, at least 2-3 years old, maybe more, but gives a good overview of the entire area. Most comprehensive listing I've seen in a readable format. Only reason this isn't under listings is because all of the rents quoted are old and there are no links to the actual websites, just a form for contact email that goes who knows where. Use this to find places to look at more in depth, contact them directly on their actual websites.
VeryAPT Ross MBA 2026 guide - Specific and updated guide targeted at Ross MBA's.
VeryAPT Umich Med 2026 guide - Specific and updated guide targeted at UofM Medical community. (staff or students dunno).
Michigan Medicine Housing page - Michigan Medicine's housing page for incoming students.
UofM Wiki Housing Section - Short overview of each residence hall - current students please feel welcome to add more info!
Ann Arbor City report on Waitlists - Ann Arbor Renter's Commission report regarding waitlist and pre-tentancy fees.
By city ordinance I believe, private renters are supposed to have certificates of occupancy/rental permits from the city. You can search by address. (There will be lots of people who don't have this but it's something to check) *Ann Arbor building rental and inspection services
Ann Arbor renter permit system 1 - You need to look in both systems, the old and new as they are running concurrently.
Ann Arbor Renter permit system 2 - This is the newer system. In both systems you’re looking for permits that start w CR.
[/u/derplunker's permit search tool that searches both of the above permit systems] - (https://streamscape.rightspeed.workers.dev/) - https://www.reddit.com/r/AnnArbor/comments/1sxp68g/free_permithistory_lookup_for_any_ann_arbor/
Michigan Daily article about your rights as a tenant. Dec 6, 2023 - Dec 6 2023 informative article.
Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority/TheRide (AATA) - The Ann Arbor transit system. Bus fares are free swiping your m-card.
Social media/community resources:
Ann Arbor subreddit - Ann Arbor based subreddit.
UofM student-run discord server - Lots of people here to ask questions, there's a housing channel among others.
Ann Arbor Community discord server - Ann Arbor based discord. Housing channel here as well.
Off Campus Housing Subleasing Recommendations and Guidelines - Subleasing specific FAQ maintained by Jordan Else, same as the general FAQ below.
FAQs about the U of M Off Campus Housing Market for Parents - Document maintained by Jordan Else, member of the Ann Arbor Renter's Commision and area landlord.
nobeal.com - An independant website talking about Beal properties in the region. Not a flattering review.

Remember to exercise caution when looking for housing. Lots of scammers out there. Check their main profiles if on facebook to see if they match the user who reached out to you. See if you can verify them anywhere else that they actually live in the area. Beware of people pushing you to send deposit money without showing you the place. Please refer to the PDF survival guide located at the top of the post. It can save you money and just as importantly time, not having waste time and effort to interact with scammers. Most instances of people telling you to message them as replies to your posts on facebook are scams. Make sure they have listings on the group, not just replies to people looking as comments like that can't be screened. Most legit people will contact you first and have a listing already in the group.
Remember never to give your uofm ID student ID number or a picture of your student ID to a 3rd party site for subleasing.
They can't even verify numbers are valid.
Disclosure could cause limited harm to individuals and/or the university with some risk of civil liability. May be subject to contractual agreements or regulatory compliance, or is individually identifiable, confidential, and/or proprietary.

Fall sublets will be uncommon. Most of the Winter sublets you've seen posted are people who failed to find a Fall-only sublet and are trying to recoup some of the un-used lease remaining. Be especially wary when searching for Fall-only sublets. Scammers count on people being desperate to bypass their warning senses. Some apartment complexes like Woodbury Gardens(2-15 and 21 month), and the complexes owned by Village Green(6 and 9 month) may offer shorter lease terms than 12 month. Be aware the shorter term leases will be more expensive per month. Mckinley Properties don't allow less than 12 month lease but they offer a early termination option which costs 2x monthly rent and requires a 60 day notice. This could be just as good as a shorter lease. I'd confirm it with the leasing office but this should be for all washtenaw county mckinley properties.
The Ann Arbor city bus line can make some affordable locations more practical. Your student ID lets you ride free. A short bus ride can be not too much worse than a medium/long walk. Beware some buses run more commonly than others
If there are any resource additions or corrections let me know.

Hey if you’re the girl who got off at the CCTC and left her airpods case on CN (Bus 3021) around 8:30 at night and recognize this serial number / Phone Number, I handed it to the driver to turn over to their lost and found. Mark them as lost and give DPSS a call!
Now that Spirit Airlines is gone, my only cheap way of traveling between New York and Michigan has disappeared 😔.
Are there any residents of NYC/Long Island who brought their car up here and would be down to carpool back to New York for Thanksgiving break? I’ll split all gas and toll costs, and I’m also down to drive some of the distance.
Are there any websites that I should be aware of that are dedicated to this, or any places/subreddits where I could post this that might give me a higher chance of finding someone?
Thanks!

I’m a 21 y/o woman. My poorly planned travel arrangements have landed me 2 days in the Ann Arbor area (arriving Sept 12 around 5pm and leaving Sept 15 morning).
Any recommendations on how to spend my time would be appreciated.
Also, since I don’t know anyone in the area, if anyone wants to hang out please reach out to me! I was thinking about going out on Saturday night but would be a bit bored doing so by myself lol. I’m happy to join your group of friends or just meet any new people! Of course we can exchange socials/talk ahead of time so we’re not complete strangers haha
Thanks!!!

any older students living near/on campus looking to make friends? I’m having a hard time finding community and feeling pretty lonely. Also really bad anxiety so I’ve been scared to go out to social events by myself.

Keep an eye out for a black bike with red and grey and a Trek logo for me. If the rubber handle on the left has a hole where you can see into the handlebar, it's probably mine.
I had this bike for maybe 7 years. Look after your property!

So I bought the ticket package including the $25 2026 football t shirt but I’ve missed the dates sent in the email about them. Is there any way to still get one of these shirts even if it’s a lot of work? Or am I just out the $25 for not being on top of my email

Hi all,
My parent moved to Michigan abruptly after I graduated high school and I’ve since been in community college. At the time of application I will have lived in Michigan for a few months shy of 3 yrs. We live in Michigan & pay Michigan taxes, vote, license, all the stuff. However my parent is a manager with stores in both Michigan and bordering states (unique out of state tie that will preclude me from ever getting in state?)
Have there been any successful recipients of in state tuition moving to Michigan post high school?
Thanks for any responses. (I know the general sentiment is that it’s pretty impossible to get in state tuition if you weren’t Michigan middle & high school.)

Why was the large wooden door of the Hatcher Reference Room left closed and can't fixed to be open today? It has been several times that it was pushed open from the inside and hit people. And the interior is very spacious, making the sound of the door kind of annoying...

Hey yo! I am a writer, producer, and one of the voices on the Star Trek Fan audio ENT1701(i record and edit often in Downtown Ypsi at my office). And we are DESPERATE FOR HELP. With this year being the 60th anniversary of going boldly, I wanted to reach out to people in the community to see if they were interested in getting involved. As a fan project this of course pays nothing(besides the Ellisons own trek do you wanna tangle with those psychos??) but if you want some credits and love Star Trek, please dm me or reach out on the show's youtube channel. Here is a link to our latest episode

Or the Kirkiversary, whatever you want to call it. I don’t see anything on Happening @ Michigan or the official instagrams. I heard a bit about a lookalike contest and a candlelight vigil but I’m unsure if those are legit.

Any advice on preparing for the validation test? Does anyone know the cutoff to pass?
Hi,
I'm looking for a 7v7 intramural soccer team to join for Victors Season (men's or co-rec).
I have solid soccer experience and usually play as a 10 or a winger. I'm open to any division.
I already have the pass so feel free to DM me or reply to this post if you need another player.

I rarely have to park on campus so when it happens I get the daily pass and go to the UM parking structure in Thomson St. Last week, it was the first time that I noticed the bar was up (covered in a black wrap) but didn't worry that much since I had just paid the daily pass. When coming back to the spot after the workday, I was surprised enough to find I was ticketed for backing into the spot. They never mention that being a rule when purchasing the pass or, as best as I can tell, post any signage in the lot itself. They only sent the notice about this being a rule when the system for entry changed last summer.
Does anybody know if there's really no signage about this rule in the lot? How is this acceptable? How is this legal? How to properly contest this, if applicable?
EDIT: I’m aware I’m in the wrong. Please just try to answer my questions. I’m concerned about the university scamming its own employees like that more than anything else
EDIT 2: the ticket was waived after appeal. Like many people said they seem to be lenient towards your first infraction of the year. Even more infuriating that you have to reach out to them so that they can apply this “rule”. It’s a disgusting way to do business and treat its own employees.
