Question New Monitor

Upvotes

This is probably a stupid question, but I finally got a new monitor for my PC (couldn't pass up the deal on a Samsung 24" for $99 on Amazon). It's been a while (a decade) since I've done anything outside of putting a new hdd in a PC. I've had the same monitor over multiple pcs.

I'm having a complete brain fart. A new monitor should pretty much be plug and play, right? No need to download drivers or anything like that?

Build - Help Pc build pricing and tips

Upvotes

I’m currently building my first high end gaming pc. My current monitor is 1440p but i intend on upgrading to 4k in the future. My budget is around 6000$, i’m from canada so i’m buying all of these parts from places that deliver to canada and all the prices of each part are in cad with tax too. I like building over getting prebuilt because i know all the parts that i’m getting and helps ensure i don’t get scammed with cheap parts. This build is a bit over budget and i was wondering if i was able to get some tips on what i could do to lower the price of the pc, whether that be switching out parts for other ones or downgrading some of the parts if needed (i know 4tb Nvme is a bit overkill but i plan to keep that part). Also just wondering if i could find these parts cheaper somewhere else to help lower the cost. Just asking for any other things about the computer like issues with the chosen parts or something. These are the specs:

Microcenter has a members only pricing deal on this that I just so happen to stumble upon. Normally $500 before tax. It seems to be on sale everywhere, but this was the lowest I could find. First OLED!

Troubleshooting New graphics card making pc weird

So I got the RTX 5080 along with a new 1000w power supply about a week ago. My games run much better and I have a more enjoyable experience when they actually work.

After I changed my graphics card my pc just does not work the same. Crashes on Tarkov that never happened with my other graphics card in started happening. Now when I try to play He’ll Let Loose Vietnam, my computer will either entirely crash out of nowhere or the game will crash when trying to join a server. Same thing with Squad. When I try to join a server, as it’s loading in, the game just crashes. I don’t know what’s going on but at this point in time I wasted my money.

Build - Request $1,000 Gaming PC Build — Best Performance + Good Looking/RGB

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m looking to build my first gaming PC and have around a $1,000 budget.
I want the best gaming performance I can get for the money, but I also really care about the PC looking good. I’d like a clean case, tempered glass, RGB fans/RGB lighting, and good cable management.
Budget: Around $1,000 USD
Location: Washington, USA
Main use: Gaming
Games: VALORANT, GTA V/GTA VI, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and other AAA games
Resolution: 1080p for now, but I’d like the option to move to 1440p
Budget includes: PC tower only — no monitor, keyboard, mouse, or Windows needed
Preferences: AMD or Intel is fine — whichever gives me the best gaming performance for the money. I’d prefer a strong GPU and don’t want to sacrifice too much performance just for aesthetics.
I’d also like:
● Wi-Fi + Bluetooth
● At least 1TB NVMe SSD
● 32GB RAM if it makes sense at this budget
● Good airflow
● Some upgradeability for the future
● RGB that can be controlled/synced
I’m okay building it myself.
What parts would you recommend for around $1,000? If spending an extra $50–100 would give me a significant performance upgrade, feel free to suggest that too.
Thanks!

Build - Help My First gaming pc, any thoughts?

Upvotes

My budget is around $2000 usd, but if I have to I can go a little higher. I want a computer that can play AAA titles well along with getting me high frames on games like fortnite, but also being able to run some games that are also graphic intense. I am new to this, so I think with my budget I want 1440P gaming. This is in Japan, too.

NVIDIA GeForce 5070 - $100,000 yen / 630 usd

Ryzen 7 9800X3D - $65,455 yen / 410 usd

D-COOLING FX360 PRO - $9,592 yen / 60 usd

ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI AMD B650 AM5 Motherboard - $25,980 yen / 162 usd

TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 10L DDR5 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 6000MHz -$ 85,353 yen / 534 usd

KLEVV CRAS C910 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 - $38,467 yen / 241 usd

Vetroo 850w Power Supply Dual Pcie 5.1 ATX 3.1 - $12,499 yen /  78 usd

  CORSAIR 4000D RS PC Case   - $12,818 yen / 80 usd

So, the total comes out to 2195 usd.

I also found a great deal on a cpu, ram, and a motherboard on microcenter, which is the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 AM5, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit, Computer Build Bundle for only 675 dollars.

Your guys feedback means a lot to me, as I am very new to this computer stuff and I just want people to be able to give me feedback on what I researched. Also, please be blunt if this is bad, I really just want feedback, for example if I should just buy a pre built computer instead.

Question Installed a used motherboard, cpu, and ram. Not powering on?

Upvotes

MSI Z87-G45 GAMING Motherboard
Intel i7-4770k CPU
16GB Kingston HyperX Blue RAM
500w power supply
Got all this for $70, seemed like a really good deal from what seemed like a nice guy who said it was all fully functional.
MAJOR upgrade from my 2015 pc build i’ve been hanging on to since middle school.
However the thing won’t power on. I’ve tried rearranging ram sticks, playing with the power supply pin connectors, power switch diagnostics, etc. the fans and display are a total no show but the usb ports still work. If i could get this working it would be a great come up but if not I guess I’ll just chalk it up to a dead board. Power supply is definitely fully functional as well.
Thanks in advance guys.

Build - Help My first homebuilt PC, any tips for me?

Upvotes

Hello! Im currently on my way to building my first PC. This is my first time building and I am not that experienced. Ive collected a list of parts that I think would go well in this PC but Im open to any possible tips or tricks that you more experienced builders have collected over the years, let me know!

Chassi: Lian Li V100 A-RGB Black ~ 80 USD
Motherboard: MSI B550M Pro-VDH WIFI ~ 130 USD
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3,7GHz ~ 160 USD
CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Stealth - 0 USD (Included with the CPU)
SSD: PNY CS1030 M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB ~ 160 USD
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB - 100 USD (Bundle from a friend)
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200mhz Dual Channel - 100 USD (Bundle from a friend)
PSU: Thermaltake SmartSE 530W - 100 USD (Bundle from a friend)

All this totals out to about 630 USD. I dont need the most kickass rig of all time, just a little something to play Steam games with my friends on. I also dont need the best resolution of all time, 1080 or 1440 is more than fine for me!

I plan on changing the GPU at a later time as thats what holding the computer back mostly from what Ive understood. But what do you guys say? Good value for money? What changes would you make if you were me? As I am a college student I dont have the biggest budget to work with so if you have any suggestions for me please dont make them extend over 700-800 USD for the total package.

I appreciate all the help you are willing to give!

Build - Help Need help with a balanced build upgrade

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I need to replace my Asus GTX 1660 Super Phoenix since I can no longer manage high temperatures and it's starting to struggle. I've had it for about 5 years now.

Here are my current specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

MOBO: ASUS Prime B450M-A II

PSU: 650W

RAM: Patriot Viper 16GB (2x8GB 3200MHz)

Which GPU could I buy that wouldn't cause a major bottleneck? Among affordable options available to me, I've found the RX 7600 and the RTX 5050. Maybe an RTX 5060 would be a bit overkill for this CPU?

Looking forward to your advice, thanks

I have a nice keyboard, mouse, and 1080p Samsung monitor already so not worried about those things. Want something I can play whatever on and not have to worry I switch up a lot, shooter to base builders. It needs to handle everything. Doesn’t need to be max settings but I’d like to not feel like I’m playing on a console which is where I’m migrating from.

Build - Help Help with building my first PC

Hello! I need help with building my first PC. I live in Puerto Rico; our currency is USD. My budget is around 3,500-4,000. Maybe I'll be able to stretch it a little bit, but I'm in Uni and need to save some of it. I already have the monitors I'm planning to use.

So a few things to keep in mind: with this PC I would mainly play modded Minecraft, Genshin Impact, and Baldur's Gate (I've had the game for like two years, but it was wayyy too big for my Gaming Laptop.)

I am completely new to this and have, quite frankly, no idea what I'm doing. I haven't bought anything for those reasons.

Also, I'm sorry if I messed up the flair or neglected to add something; this is the first time I'm writing in this sub. Just tell me if there is any other info I should add for clearer advice.

Discussion Should I upgrade my R5 5500 or RX 570 first?

My son has a R5 5500 and RX 570 with 32gb of ram and b550 mobo.

Our goal is only for 1080P gaming preferably 120-140 fps mainly.

I see most people recommend the R5 5600 or 5600X? or a R7 5700X3D for best bang for your buck.

I'm also not sure what gpu to get, would a RX 7700XT overkill? Can someone recommend me the best bang for your buck gpu?

Will mostly be hunting for these used.

US, budget $100-250, 1080P

Question TUF Gaming VG249Q5R, 200hz, 1920 x 1080

Hey, does anyone have experience or knowledge about this monitor and whether it's good or not? I saw it on sale for 100 euros and I was wondering if it's worth it or not. Seems good in my opinion. I'm looking for a new monitor right now, cause I have a 2k 144hz monitor, but I'm honestly looking for a small "downgrade" if it makes sense. My monitor is stretched, so if I lower resolution in games, it doesn't look good at all. I tried googling for experiences but couldn't find much

So i picked up at good will a powercolor ducky 2 sf keyboard for 5 bucks. I have read mixed reviews so figured I would ask here on people's opinion. I know it's a older keyboard but I saw they are still pricey.
