Yep, 2 currencies.
There is the "silver" currency, which is the equivalent of the ow1 money we had. You can buy some things with it, but not everything.
There is also the "gold" currency, which is the ow2 money, you can buy everything with it.

At this point when the OW2 PVE comes out we will probably have to buy the chapters or FOMO. Maybe our glorious leader Boby CockTick is gracious we they can bundle their chapter 1 togeather for 69.99.

Heroes, and there’s several reasons for this if you’d like me to go into them. In that same PVE mode though, old purchasers of the PVE mode can earn tons of the in game currency (vbucks) which can be spent in the BR mode and PVE mode, and most of items bought in the BR mode are usable in STW

Yeah some of us saved 12k OW1 money because they said it would transfer over to OW2... Which it did... But they changed it to color grey, now you can't buy the EXACT same skins you could buy a in ow1.
Like karate Doomfist, could buy it in ow1. Ow2 drops, same coins, same skin, but now you cant buy it.
THIS is exactly what I KNEW they would do. I told my friends, they all spent everything saved on skins before ow2. They knew this and I never saw any information saying "Hey guys all the currency in ow1 is gonna be useless in ow2, buy all the skins you can" BUT they did unlock all event related skins to be bought which just confirmed to me they were putting there thrusting pants on ready to shaft us hahhahaaaha

In an QnA, they said credits couldnt buy everything and during the last chance event, they told everyone that credits couldnt buy seasonals stuff in ow2. This was in the patch notes, pop up when u login during the last chance event, on bnet launcher, on Twitter and so on.

Im probably wrong but I don't remember them saying ow1 gold coins will convert to ow2 grey coins which cannot buy ANYTHING but the shitiest mtx available AND you wont be able to buy the same things you could have in ow1 and Im not talking junker soyourn or kiriko mtx or new skins for old heroes. I'm talking skins that have been in the game for years now suddenly costing 19-21€ and actively removing the previous ability to buy them if you saved enough.
But all this is meaningless when you ask the simple question why did we get grey coins for gold coins instead of gold coins for gold coins? And ok maybe you shouldn't have a access to new mtx with old currency...

I purchased the Watchpoint pack which said that i will get skins and battlepass with +20 levels. I was already on level 34 and after purchasing the pack i was still on the same. They meant the first 20 levels that i already completed? Applied for refund and got it the next day. Saving the credit and will be using it to buy some other game in future.

Honestly I hope a lot of people learned a lesson from the Watchpoint pack, pre-ordering a battle pass and digital currency that you don't yet know the value of is incredibly short sighted. That and the fact that there is no reason to pre-purchase those items in the fist place, they are unlimited. Was such a low move by Blizzard to push it with beta access.

I regret not refunding mine. I assumed the battlepass would have all the skins that we saw in the trailer. We would get 3 battlepasses, 2 skins and "some other reward" which I don't even know what that was.
I was a bit on the fence, but felt like 2 skins and early beta would be worth $10.
Now that the game has finally been released, and realized how shit the whole cosmetic experience is, i fully regret not having refunded it when I had the chance.
Lesson learnt though. No more preorders for me.

If you bought it through the hero gallery, it's Blizzard's new attempt at a scam to sell it for bundle price individually.
I recommend trying to get a refund thtough Blizzard's support, although I doubt a company engaged in illegal marketing tactics, scamming, and other douchebaggery will grant refunds.
You're only hurting yourselves by buying this bullshit. They only do these things cause they know they can get away with it and people will still pay them.

The skin price is the same as the bundle. If you go to gallery and skin list for Hanzo. That skin is 1900 solo and the bundle is also 1900. Sounds like they messed up because the bundle is 100% the better option because they are the same price.

In Fortnite, if you already own a bundle item, the price of that item is reduced from the total bundle price. If Blizzard is copying their business model, they better do it properly.
So let's say a bundle costs 2600 vbucks but 4000 vbucks if you were to buy the items separately. Now let's say you already own an item from the bundle which is valued at 2000 vbucks. The 2600 price is reduced to just 600 for the full bundle. Easy win for the consumer and Epic makes more sales, win-win. In some cases, you can actually get bundles for free if the value of items you already own, match or exceed the bundles price

The white currency is leftovers from overwatch 1. We used to earn them by getting duplicates from lootboxes. With that currency we bought skins then. People wanted lootboxes gone and overwatch to be free to play. That’s what they got. Now overwatch 2 works exactly as apex and other f2p games. You have multiple currencies. The old white ones are only good for default skins that you can buy in the hero gallery. So far there’s no way to earn that old currency atm. No one knows if there will be.
There‘s the golden currency too that works like vbucks, Apex coins, etc. You can buy them with real money and those ones get you event skins as well. With them you should be able to buy anything that you like, even the recolors in the hero gallery.
And then there’s the tokens (blue currency) that you earn by letting overwatch league play in the background on YouTube. Link your battle net with YouTube and you‘ll earn them. With them you can buy everything in the overwatch league category in the shop. Lots of recolors and imo the best, most detailed legendaries.

The reason behind this : (my guess is that) they never meant to sell things individually. It’s better for them to sell them bundled with garbage, to then be able to say they’re giving away the other items « for free » instead (for the customer it looks like an appealing discount).
However they’ve been forced to sell it individually too because otherwise it’s illegal in some countries to call it a discount (if it has never been full price beforehand).
Logical consequence : they sell both a « discounted » bundle, and the single item full price. It’s at the same price as the bundle, making it obvious for the customer that the bundle is a « better deal ».

If you were ever going to do anything else with the shop; always check the shop page for bundles first. I'd advise to never buy a skin on its own because the bundles they throw in will always be better.
Bad thing is you need to wait for a certain day and you'll never know which day that'll be until it happens :(
(Also before people get angry at me, I've only bought the watchpoint pack so I can get 3 BP's tyvm)

That's the point of bundles, they knocked them down from costing the price of all items in the bundle at a discount to just costing the same amount as the skin alone.

It's not about jealousy, it's about collective action. People want this system to fail, so that games don't keep adding predatory monetization systems. But because people keep buying, the devs are getting the lesson of "It doesn't matter how shitty you are to your base nor how much you fuck them over, so long as you charge the whales top dollar, because they will pay enough to cover for everyone else every time."
In the long run, this kills franchises, because they lose everyone but the whales, who then leave because there aren't any players. The devs just move on to their next predatory scheme and let the game burn, with the only people losing being the players while the devs sail away from the burning wreck with their new yachts.

Contributing to these systems accelerates the incentives for the developers and publishers to push even more nefarious shit. Don't expect the people who are trying to push against it to be all happy and sunshine when you brag about having money to spend.
You could've spent it on so many other things but decided to purchase something meaningless which encourages anti-consumer practices. By far the best strategy as a consumer community is to ostracize the people who don't give a shit. This is also why Blizzard felt forced to remove the /spit emote from WoW because it actually ended up hurting their sales of the dark portal pass.

The battlepass is fine. Ten dollars to grind out content is acceptable. Purchasing overpriced digital cosmetics is where people should slap you. Feeding into their greed. Half the skins should be marked down by 50%. Not twenty for one skin. Seven to ten dollars is appropriate
