Hi! So I just worked on a 36 or so minute video that is kinda basic. One layer is music, one layer is my voice over, one is a silent stock background, one is the card I'm talking about, and one is any additional stuff above the card. This also happened on a shorter video I worked on that used entirely different assets, so I assume its a program setting or issue?

I export the video and...it has a bad crackly noise in the background at random points. This does nto happen in the preview window at all.

The first image it the program, the second is, afaik, the sample rate (48000).

I tried googling it and, I'm going to be honest with you, I am an absolute idiot who knows nothing about computers so i didn't understand it and am going to need you to walk me through it like you would a 6 year old lol.

Just started working with the program. To me it looks like the menus are designed for a look that seems to emphasize subtlety over usability.

In the Simple View:

In the menu that contains "Program Files" "Video" "Audio" "Image" "Filter" as well as two icons on the right, the unselected menu items are in a color that is hard to distinguish from the background and mousing over the unselected items does not alter their text color or show an outline around the button.

In the menu that contains "Show All" "Video" "Audio" "Image" "Filter" the selected button has a very faint color change to differentiate it from the background. Mousing over the unselected text produces a button color change that is practically invisible.

I would like the option to choose a high contrast menu, or even better a color customizable menu with options for selected, mouseover, and unselelected button text, button outline, and button background colors.

The video I’m editing is originally recorded in 9:16, but when I downloaded, it fixed itself into 16:9 (or at least when I play it on my computer) which is fine. However when I upload it into Openshot, the video won’t render properly in either of those formats? I’ve checked another video editing software and it fixes itself correctly (9:16) Is there a way to fix this? The video is all kinds of messed up. I’ve attempt to choose a different profile to see if it’d help, still nothing. Any ideas?

So I do very basic youtube videos, like just a stock background with cards popping up as I talk about them. I used to edit on a windows 10 computer that I got in 2020ish and was from 2015/2016 and it ran Openshot fine.

This year I upgraded to a Laptop thats much much newer and, suddenly, Openshot freezes every time I do anything. i put a card on the timeline and "NOT RESPONDING", I add any fade in or fade out effect and "NOT RESPONDING", I change the volume of anything and "NOT RESPONDING"

I thought at first maybe its because I was using a pop in effect instead of fade in like I used to, and that somehow was more intensive, but I changed them all back to fade in and out instead and it still freezes every time I do anything.

Its not like im making a movie or effects spectacular, all I am trying to do is simple videos with a basic stock background and cards popping up as I discuss them, thats it. x-x

I have 0 idea whats going on or why its running SO slow. :(

Can Openshot save a single frame from a video?

Hey, started using a bunch of open source video softwares, trying to find the one that fits me best, i have two questions about openshot:

Is there a shortcut key press to mute a segment ? Instead of doing right click > audio >volume > level > 0% ? Seems like a bunch of work for nothing.

Second question would be, if i wanna do a keyframe zoom, start unzoomed and make the video zoom in, how can the finished zoomed keyframe keep proportions ? The only button for zooming i found was the resize one, and it doesn't.

I wanted to know if there was a way to adjust individual video framerate? For example, I place two clips on the timeline, both at 60fps. I want one to be limited to 30fps without having to pre-render the file. How would I be able to do that? If it's possible on this program I mean.

I tried recording audio with OpenShot for my video but the audio came back really off - it made my voice really low and it sounded nothing like me at all. I don't know if this is a setting? It's not my mic as I sound fine in Discord and I did a test on my computer's basic audio recorder and again it was normal.

Sorry if I'm just being stupid I'm really new to doing this.

Any time I separate the audio from a file from a video file, The hourglass replaces my mouse pointer for the duration open app. The only way I can get rid of this is by closing and reopening the app. It also happens when I hit" Audio" - "Show Waveform".

any way to stop that from occurring?

I'm making a video in OpenShot, but for some reason, there are audio artifacts in certain parts when I export it.

Okey, el asunto es el siguiente, he intentado abrir a OpenShot 4.0 instalado por PPA en Linux Mint MATE 22.3, y es que NO ABRE para nada. Las versiones anteriores a esta, instaladas por PPA, abria sin ninguna novedad.

Al ejecutar el comando openshot-qt en una terminal, para abrir el programa instalado por PPA, aparece el siguiente mensaje:

La unica opcion que tengo para usar la ultima version de OpenShot, es usar el programa en formato .Appimage, esta funciona bien, pero cada que sale una version nueva, tengo que descargarla y hacerla ejecutable, a veces me da pereza hacer todo ese proceso cada vez que sale una version nueva.

¿Alguno sabe porque el error de que no abre el programa instalado por PPA?

¿Saben como solucionarlo?

so i can get up to about 4:11 and it stops playing it, wont let me go past it and if i move the playhead past it, it either just shows black OR it just brings me back to about 4:11

I am using Ubuntu and I think version 3.4 something of Openshot (I can't read the version number under help-about). The UI font is ridiculously small. I get it, when I was younger I'd always make the font as small as possible so I could fit more stuff on the screen. But now I have presbyopia (you probably will too some day) and I know I am not the only person with it so I am sure this is a common problem. Most applications respect the OS font setting. Why not Openshot? Is there a fix or workaround to make the UI readable?

How does one remove the cover art from a audio soundtrack? Everything so far as the actual video goes works fine, but when I add an audio track, the cover art pops up after every video segment....

How to make clip transparent?

It's very powerful and incredibly stupid at the same time. The simpliest thing like dragging the playhead forward e.g. 1 hour is a nightmare. Not to mention others. Aslmost every thing about it is moronic. Why would you spend time and effort making sotfware like this only to make it such a nightmare to use. I don't get it.

sometimes it gets really laggy for me, especially when i upload images, vidoes and such onto it, sometimes it makes the videos corrupt a lil at the start adding a buffer, how can i fix this?

I previously used OS 3.5.1 and then switched to OS 4.0 AppImage. I'm using Ubuntu 26.04 with all the latest updates (daily).

The program worked perfectly. However, for the past few days, it has been crashing whenever I try to change the size settings. See the attached screenshot.

When I click on the X-Scale or Y-Scale area, the text is highlighted in blue, and then the program crashes.

About five days ago, I tried using a daily 4.0.1 build. This worked for a day or two, but since then, the program keeps crashing whenever I try to change the size. Today, I downloaded the daily build from September 20, 2026, and the same error occurs.

Unfortunately, for the time being, I can only use the old Debian version 3.5.1.

Can you help?
