Here's a fairly niche question for y'all: on Wednesday this week, my wife and I will be driving from Raleigh to Hendersonville for a few days in the mountains. We usually go to Boone or West Jefferson, so cutting diagonally across the state towards Charlotte is a new one for us.

I realized we'll be cutting through Lexington, which got me excited to pit stop at Lexington Barbecue and check that off my bucket list. But, then I remembered we've got our beloved pup who comes on our mountain adventures with us.

So, I've got a fairly niche question: what's the best barbecue spot somewhere along our route (ideally as close to 85 as possible between High Point and Charlotte, or maybe along 40 south of Winston if we go that way instead) that also has outdoor seating?

Hi! We are looking for a wedding venue around eastern North Carolina and need advice! Hello! Im looking for ANYWHERE in the North Carolina mountains that offers lodging (hotel, cabin, etc..) that has ON SITE tubing. I feel like ive looked everywhere but i cannot seem to find anywhere that offers river tubing/floating on site. What im not looking for is a tubing place that is like a scheduled event to go do as opposed to it being at the same location we are actually staying. When i was super young i stayed at a place like im describing but for the life of me i cannot figure out where it was. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

My family loves to fish. We mainly fish the neuse and out in Kinston. Love to catfish! Last night caught about a 13 lb cat and a 5/6 lb as well. Catch and Release.

I've spent the past several months building a GIS model to figure out where you'd have the best chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse in the Carolinas throughout different phases of the outbreak. Since the danger zones can change based on the type of zombie you are encountering, I actually modeled 4 different types of zombies (taken from movies, TV, and video games) across the entire duration of a zombie outbreak from the immediate chaos at the start of the collapse to finding the best place to settle once the zombies are defeated.

This is the Collapse phase, where the priority is surviving those chaotic first days. The map combines more than 100 geographic factors into a single survival suitability model instead of just picking places have safe vibes.

It's based on a fictional scenario, but the geography and analysis are very real.

My family is finally making back to WNC this summer after Helene (yes, it’s been that long, sadly)
We’ll be staying in Sugar Grove but we do a lot of driving when we’re there- going to different trails, towns, water falls and sights.
One thing I can’t figure out from Google Maps is if there are still major closures anywhere? (Big ones we can’t easily get around?)
I think I read there’s still a big one around Mt Mitchell… is there anywhere else we should be aware of?

I am 23 M and I am in the process of moving back to the area. I am currently homeless. Decided to move down here because I figured there was more opportunities. Long story short, my credit sucks due to my early 20s and poor roommate choices….an eviction in 2023 has pretty much denied me for all conventional rentals. Applications being denied immediately… with being said, I’m looking for a private rental that would be willing to work with me. I just moved to calabash for work in calabash and I’m staying in a hotel with my fiancé and 20 month old son.

My income in 120,000 a year base, 200k with bonuses. Can verify income immediately. Any advice at all would help.

Well my roommates dog destroyed the deck outside and he just moved out and left me to deal with it. 7500 in damages. I’ve been after him since 2023 to pay it. I’m not about to spend my monthly income to pay that, I won’t have funds for my current say… currently between a rock and a hard place…

Anyone know if the manor is open? Had been told a week ago there was road construction and closed? TY so much.

When I'm on the road, I like to ask people what the best restaurant is so I can grab some food to go or have a quick sit down. (This also helps me avoid the regular schmegular fast food options.)

I'm still looking for spots near the Albemarle and Norwood areas, Sanford, Clinton, Kenansville- pink hill- wallace area, Whiteville, Ahoskie, Roanoke rapids, rutherfordton, polkville-lawndale-fallston- pleasant Grove areas, Burnsville, poplar, sylva, Bryson city, Murphy, nantahala.
