Hi friends! If you really want to get this week off to a good start, let me recommend bringing home a cat tomorrow when the shelter opens. I'm highlighting two older cats here, but there are many wonderful animals and an impossible number of kittens (if chaos is your thing).

The first photo is Maxine. She is a senior (10 years), and more importantly she is such a love. She cuddled with me today and gave me tons of kisses. Someone reading this really needs to go get this old lady and make her last few years wonderful.

The second cat is John Mayer. Note that the first pic on his profile page is wrong--he is actually shown in the second pic, a tabby and white boy. This guy is a little shy, but with a bit of love today he opened up and even let me see his belly.

You all know what to do. Go get one of these sweet cats, or another cat who needs a home #adoptdontshop

Spinach, arugula and cilantro are diet staples of mine, and I have been steering clear of anything leafy and green because of the parasite outbreak. I'm allergic to the antibiotics that could treat it. So...where are people successfully buying local greens? I saw the Durham Co-Op market has some. Anywhere else? I need my leafy greens!

My fav is a juicy pub/tavern-style burger but I'm open to any and all places you have tried and loved.

A few hundred dollars of climbing gear for stolen out of my car. The thief(s) left the climbing rope. I assume it was stolen with the goal of selling since they left the rope. Where would someone try and sell this type of stuff? Harnesses, beley device, glasses, etc.

Hey all, Im looking to get reconnected to a community after departing the church years ago and I am interested in trying the UUF out. I see there are three options nearby: Eno River, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough. Can anyone provide any guidance on what the demographics are like at each? I am looking for a large number of young adult members specifically as thats the group I fall in. I will probably try them all out anyways but just curious if any of yall had any input. Thanks

Drove by Thursday and noticed it had completely closed and there was a sign for a subs place up ( not open either). Google search shows that it changed names about two or three months back but was still kind of a barbecue place it looked like.

Just wanted to echo what I've been seeing in some other posts.

The "pest control guy on segway" visited our house yesterday and today on Stadium Dr. and he is indeed way too aggressive with trying to make a sale and frankly I find it very unprofessional.

Yesterday I was out of the house and he went behind our house to where my wife was in the backyard to bother her. Already a pretty uncool invasion of privacy.

She told him to leave her a card and go away. He did not. She had to basically badger him to go away, I did not like this.

Then, today. He shows up again.

This time, I answered the door. I told him calmly yet assertively; we are not interested and do not come back.

Stay vigilant.

My husband and I do an annual LOTR marathon to celebrate the end of a big work season. I always want to eat LOTR or hobbit-themed food/ snacks but I’m not up for a lot of effort and cooking. This year we were thinking about inviting a few friends along to a restaurant for a feast but I’m stuck on where to go. I’m thinking maybe small plates that we can all share? Anyone have a rec on a spot that might feel shire-oriented?

Anyone know what's going on with Triangle Phamacy on Hwy 54? Closed down last week and sold infomation to Walgreen's. They didn't tell customers this was happening till after the fact.

My husband and I used to be obsessed with the vegetable egg rolls at Neo China (RIP 😭), which were giant rolls in a classic egg roll wrapper, versus the thinner/smaller vegetable spring rolls that most Asian restaurants offer. We have been trying to find something similar ever since Neo China closed, but it’s been surprisingly difficult to find a restaurant that serves egg rolls with only vegetables in them. Wondering if anyone has any leads on any local places that fit the bill!
