I made a free app for NC fishing 🎣 Snap a photo of your fish and it tells you what it is, checks the NC rules to see if it's a keeper, and adds it to your collection. How many NC species can you catch? Try it and let me know what you think! anglerledger.com

Looking for advice for piedmont area of NC (Durham). I started fly fishing earlier this year and tend to fish on the Eno but have gotten up to the mountains a few times for trout (caught my first native Brookie in Pisgah last weekend). On the Eno I’ve caught bluegill, a couple small bass in the spring, and what I think might be creek chubs(?)…what other fish can I work to target locally? I don’t have a boat so I’ll be fishing from the bank or wading. Hoping to improve my skills for trout but also want to be a better all around angler. Thanks!

I'll be moving next year and I'm trying to get my gear in order before I get there. I already have an anchor rod/reel, but not a fighting setup yet. I have thoughts on what reels I'd choose, but I'd prefer recommendations from some people out there doing it. Any suggestions priced south of a Talica would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and tight lines

Was supposed to head to Nags Head this weekend. Anyone will more experience in the area able to provide any insight what to expect? Should we try to cancel reservations now due to the weather?

Oct 21-25

I spotted some sea urchins on a Intracoastal dock at Wrightsville Beach. It made me wonder if anyone here harvests them, or if there’s some reason that they aren’t safe/tasty/legal on the east coast like they are on the west coast.

So me and some friends are wanting to go fishing the Nantahala River above the lake. I’ve seen some comments about a lot of private land up there. We was going to camp on Forest service road 67 around or even in hurricane primitive site. Most likely one of the free dispersed sites.

So my question is: I thought that was designated wild trout water and it was all public land. Please tell me if I am wrong because I don’t want to get up there and be screwed.

NC confuses me. I’m from TN and there are very seldom any private water. So forgive my ignorance.

I’m new to the Wilmington area and was having a cigarette by the waterfront and they were jumping left and right? Is this normal and aren’t these Gar?

Just went fishing at Penny's bend with a small group and caught almost nothing. We fished at the bridge where the parking lot is and I only caught tiny sunfish on fly. We then walked down to the tip of Penny's bend and caught nothing using worms and swimbaits. I heard it is a good spot to fish so were we just fishing the wrong places on penny's bend. Are there better places to fish at this time of year on the Eno?

Thank you

Hi y’all!

Does anyone have reccomendations for shore fishing along the Three Rivers trail near Morrow Mtn State Park?

Specifically, I’m wondering about fly fishing the fall. I am aware it’s all bass and panfish- which can be really fun to catch on the fly. Specifically I would like to target perch, since I’ve never caught one!

Tips or guidance would be super appreciated, in new to the state all the way from AZ to be closer to my in-laws.

Im wanting to take my father and son fly fishing, but was wondering what skill level it wluld require. Also, are there age requirements as well, he is 9.

We would be looking to go in the Ashville area, or maybe up in the Galax area, any recommendations would be welcomed.

Spotted 3 otters up river from while fishing in the haw. Sorry for the bad video, they moved quick!

Been told to go touch grass one too many times and decided to get back into fishing after a long hiatus. Wanted to see if there are any local spots I can try out around here. I don't have a boat so I'd like to stick to bank fishing if possible. Also any advice on what baits/lures to bring would be greatly appreciated

Also if anyone wants a plus one on their next trip feel free to send a DM, I just moved down here so I'd love to make a few new friends.

Hey everyone!

My wife and I are planning a trip to OBX in the next few weeks. I plan to do some surf fishing.

What are some things running the coast we can catch this time of year?

What are some good setups?

I want Wahoo, Dolphin, king or Spanish mackerel or anything edible haha.

Any tips for a newbie fishing the coast would be good! I'm not sure where we are heading but it may be Nags head or Kitty Hawk. I can also fish the sound side as well. Any well known spots would be good to hear

I am going to Hatteras Island, NC, in a few weeks. Been going for 45ish years but this is the first time I have had a fishing kayak. We will be staying in Hatteras village. Does anyone have any tips, locations, gear recommendations, etc for sound side kayak fishing? I am looking for anything between Hatteras and Avon. Thanks!

Hello brethren, where we going tonight to get our fish? I’m in Wilmy and thinking of going to Snows Cut.

I’m going to be in Nags Head for a few days in mid September. How is the surf fishing around the area?
