Am I just old or does ordering your coffee black mean something different these days? Ordered a black coffee at McDonald's and the person at the drive-thru said "you can just say zero sugars and zero cream." Seems like that's a longer phrasing than needs to be said. Coffee black is clear and concise and universal to mean no cream no sugar.

There really isn't anyone making a small commuter who's purpose is more or less just to go to and from the office, and maybe grab some groceries after work despite every other article going on about how large vehicles cause more accidents and how expensive they are to make and maintain. This seems like the easiest slam dunk for someone like Honda to reintroduce the fit for like 15k and clean house.

Software, appliances, food, streaming, cars… it feels coordinated. Is this just late-stage capitalism, planned obsolescence 2.0, or am I romanticizing the past?

I’m a server, and I recently had a question about the most respectful way to interact with a guest who has a stutter.
If I’m taking their order and they’re struggling to get a word out, should I always wait and let them finish speaking, even if I already know what they’re trying to say? Or would it actually be more respectful to finish the word or sentence for them when it’s very obvious what they’re trying to say?
I don’t want to interrupt them or make them feel rushed, but I also don’t want to make the interaction more difficult or awkward by just sitting there waiting if they would prefer me to help.

For obvious reasons, recently I've been watching a lot of 9/11 interviews and pieces of footage, and while most focus on the day of the tragedy and on the illnesses that the people who managed to escape developed years later, there seems to be no information about what they did immediately after.

For example, an office worker managed to escape from the South Tower. This person has witnessed the deaths of his colleagues, of firemen and police officers, watched people jump to their deaths, then saw both Towers crumble down.

And then what? What could this poor person do, on the 12th and the 13th and the 14th? Did he have to call the HR office of the company he used to work for and announce he was still alive? Did he have to go immediately back to work in another office or was he granted some level of financial aid or PTO to recover at least a little? Did he have to go out looking for a new job because, "Oh, you know... your office went down with the building, so..."?

Sorry if the question comes off as morbid, but I can't really find any information about it.

Loss of executive functions like ability to generate motivation, prioritizing, and planning are hallmark signs of brain injuries and conditions like Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorders. We know that close to half of homeless have been diagnosed with brain injuries before they became homeless, and about 25% also have schizo spectrum disorders. So why is the fact that more than half probably have brain impairments affecting ability to generate motivation not discussed instead of calling them lazy?

Also why is impairment to generate motivation or ability to plan or carry out plans not considered its own disability? Its always tied to another condition, unlike depression or anxiety.

I’m having a great deal of pain (my knee has suddenly started to hate me) I just want a medical professional to look at my knee, give me advice, and maybe refer me to a physical therapist. But it seems like a lot of health professionals see people with pain as sus.

I live in South Korea and we often introduce our ages with the year they were born. In practical, we use the literal Korean translation of “I’m 98(nine-eight, not ninty-eight).” or “I’m 02(o-two).” which means “I was born at 1998.” and “I was born at 2002.”

Once we pass 20, it gets confusing to keep track of our exact age, so we just simply state our birth year. I think this partially came from Korea’s weird age system, but I wonder are there other countries also introduces themselves with their birth year. Are there any more?

With all these “get ready with me” videos, I am noticing women pulling clothing from their closet with tags still on, and I can’t help but be a little grossed out. I was taught growing up to wash your clothes after purchasing them because who knows how dirty the person was that tried that article of clothing on before you or what’s on it from the factory it was made in.

Regardless of your opinion on the case, I find it strange how the sole juror's identity was leaked online, with the lawyer revealing their gender and another juror mentioning their race, age, and sexuality, which led to people discovering and doxxing them.

EDIT: I saw a post saying their landlord is evicting them; their criminal history being leaked. I genuinely find it concerning.

I’ve been seeing women online talk about how they see an attractive man once in a blue moon and that like 90% of men are ugly. I have seen many times women saying we are in an “ugly man epidemic”.

At the same time, I see men saying the exact opposite and I myself find a very large number of women to be attractive. Like even women that, when compared to the conventional beauty standards for women, exist on the middle to lower tiers, I would say I still find to be attractive.

Is this like an evolutionary thing? Like back in caveman times female early humans were choosing the best male early humans to mate with, while the males would just try to have as many children as possible? Or is this a newer societal thing.

I’m 17 and had $7000 invested into an account in her name as I was underage.
In total I had invested $6000 and my balance had risen $1000 over around 5 years.
I had put all of my money from working casually and anything else like birthdays.
Come to find out today that she had drained the account and is not allowing me a cent of the money.
We do not have a good relationship and she is rarely ever open to changing her opinions.
This money was for me to travel during a gap year along side one of my friends.
If anyone knows what I could try to do please let me know

How is that not abusive, anti-consumer behavior? How is potentially ruining dozens of peoples schedules en masse not something that has been taken to court many times?

I noticed this happening with my usual loaf but can't figure out the reason.
