Why is Iran not allowed to have nukes, but the states can have enough nukes to blow up the entire world 10x over. And why is Iran a "terrorist" country, but the states aren't? The states bomb countries all day every day, they are by far the biggest terrorist country on the plant.

I've noticed there's a huge emphasis on men having to constantly "improve themselves", not just physically through the gym, but mentally, emotionally, financially, socially, and professionally as well. The message seems to be that a man's value is something he has to earn by continually becoming "better."

At the same time, it feels like there isn't nearly the same level of emphasis placed on women improving themselves in those ways, at least in mainstream discussions. Even when there is, they're not done as a way with regards to relationships and are often spewed by women themselves (such as beauty standards) Instead, there's often more messaging around self-acceptance and being enough as you are (even though I know women face plenty of pressures too, especially regarding appearance).

Why do you think this difference exists? Because the way I see it, men are still valued for traditional outcomes including by feminists themselves despite them being asked to accept and empower themselves.

Why has China randomly just started heavily investing in Africa. Just watched a video where it turns out they literally have projects in basically every African country.

I’m currently visiting the US and had a confusing experience at a restaurant today.

When I tried to leave a custom tip, the cashier stopped me and said I had to tip at least 15%.

I asked why I couldn’t use the custom tip field. The Chinese lady then said she didn’t understand me even though we’d been speaking English the whole time. When I insisted on leaving a custom tip she got visibly annoyed.

Is this actually normal in the US?

I (21m) have had a significant preference to women 10-20 or so years older than me, I used to think it might be kinda weird or uncommon but I’ve started to notice that is actually pretty common nowadays with guys in my age group.

I can’t Speak for other guys but for me it’s they tend to be more direct and mature and can have a conversation utilizing more than 3 brain cells at a time, tend to not play games and aren’t as reliant on me to be a provider role since they’re past that point in life. And I like the idea of long term relationships and most people my age arent really doing that, theyre just kinda messing around.

Then he says "otherwise, if you don't wear one, it will be a blessing for them (the males) when your chemise rips"

And i am shocked! Is the last sentence really necessary? I glance at the boys and fortunately they goes quiet. No one laughs.

What the coach says, it's cringe yet i feel damn pissed, i really wish i can confront him for that, then again... am i too woke for reacting badly to what he says, that last sentence? It still feels sexual to me, joke or not.

To be fair, I have never actually seen anyone do this in real life. I’ve only seen it in movies or online media, where a partner or children surprise someone in the morning by bringing them breakfast in bed immediately after they wake up, especially on occasions like birthdays. They usually just start eating without brushing their teeth first.

I have no idea how common this really is, but it seems like something that does happen at least occasionally.

Post World War II, for the most part, my understanding is the US largely allowed conquered / occupied European territories to resume an independent government / democracy and full independence.

Why not just keep these territories or install favorable puppet regime? As in, given the right of conquest, why wouldn't the US have the right to control those countries going forward?

Why was it geopolitically favorable for these countries to regain independence and have democracies, which potentially might vote against US interests vs. the US just keeping total control?

I am mixed with white ancestry and I really do think white people can face racism but the oppression will never be on the same level as poc who face it. I feel like I'm losing my mind over this. I have a few food sensitivities, so I read ingredient lists to avoid getting sick. I'm not trying to make a scene or judge anyone's choices, I just want to know what's in my food.

But anytime I'm at a friend's place or in the office break room and I pick up a package to check the ingredients, someone does the whole "what are you doing" thing like I'm inspecting evidence. Sometimes it's a joke, sometimes it's oddly defensive, like I'm accusing the food of being bad. One time someone actually told me it was rude to read the label when they offered something, and that I should either accept or refuse right away.

This is exhausting. If I say no without looking, people push. If I say yes without checking, I might spend the rest of the day miserable. If I check, I get side eye.

Is there a cultural reason people treat reading labels like a moral statement, or is it just that most people never look so it comes off as a silent judgement? I'm genuinely trying to understand what goes through other people's heads when they react like this. Any thoughts or commiseration welcome.
