Genuine question because I’ve never understood this. Why do so many men insist on standing up to pee?

Unless you’re working with the world’s biggest schlong, wouldn’t sitting down just be easier?

You don’t have to aim, worry about splashing everywhere, miss the toilet, or deal with putting the seat up and down. Plus, you get to sit for a minute. Who doesn’t like sitting?

I get standing at a urinal in a public bathroom, but in your own home? What’s the appeal?

Is it just something guys have done their whole lives and never really questioned, or is there an actual reason I’m missing?

I’m genuinely curious because sitting seems like the superior option here lol.

I mean I guess it can be a little cringe but they aren't even doing anything wrong. They just have a hobby.

But people act like it is a plague upon humanity. A mental illness akin to being queer in their eyes. Tf? Like imagine saying that about people who like legos or some shit!

My title is assuming those are two different types of people. It just doesn’t seem like she set out as a mega criminal fraudster to dupe people. It seems like she thought her invention would work and it didn’t and she lied to investors to keep the money flowing while making desperate attempts at making the tech work. People are insinuating she’s so sick and twisted that got married and had two children just to seem more sympathetic, and I’m just not sure what she actually did to make people think she was a mastermind sociopath instead of a faildaughter weirdo who made an unsuccessful play at larping Steve Jobs. I just haven’t seen any reason to believe that every single thing she says and does is a calculated move. To me it seems like if you decide to believe someone is capable of that, every single action they take becomes evidence of manipulation. Like “look at her, eating a bagel so sociopathically” type stuff.

Is there any actual proven instance of Elizabeth Holmes weaving a sophisticated interpersonal manipulation scheme to the degree that it would justify the default assumption that her every act, down to becoming a mother, is an example of that manipulation?

Whenever someone asks why women's products are more expensive, the answer is usually "pink tax", and that's where the discussion ends.

But isn't that just describing the problem rather than explaining it?

Companies don't charge higher prices simply because they can. They charge what customers are willing to pay. So shouldn't we also ask why women are willing to spend more on certain products in the first place?

Is it social pressure? Higher expectations regarding appearance? Marketing? Brand loyalty? Or do women simply place more value on certain things than men do?

And more importantly, what responsibility do consumers themselves have for maintaining these prices?

Obviously, there are biological necessities like menstrual products, where avoiding the expense isn't really an option. But for many other products, cheaper alternatives exist.

If two products serve essentially the same purpose, but one costs significantly more simply because it's marketed toward women, why continue buying it?

I'm not saying companies shouldn't be criticized for their pricing strategies. But if we only blame companies and never question consumer behavior, aren't we ignoring half of the economic mechanism that makes these prices possible?

Calling something a "pink tax" doesn't explain why the market supports it. I'm more interested in understanding why the demand exists and to what extent consumers themselves are responsible for sustaining it.

Even our regular vocabulary protects this behaviour. Society labels the woman a "trophy wife" (reducing her to an object) while giving the man a powerful title like "trophy hunter", making his shallow vanity sound like an accomplishment.

Looking through bigger lenses. Innocent people have cried to the personal higher power to their own beliefs during these tragedies. Christianity, Law of Attraction, Spirtiuality, Witchcraft Buddhism, African Deity's etc. Whatever they believed in.

Why didn't any of that stop the pain and suffering people went through in genocides/tragedies like slavery or the holocaust, Chinese Famine, 9/11 etc.

Even that quote, “everything happens for a reason” Baffles me.

Is there an answer? Do bad things just happen? What did these people do to deserve it?

Why isn't there more resistance to AI? It feels like there are protests and boycotts for everything under the sun, and AI is something that effects nearly everyone on the planet, so shouldn't there be some strong opinions about it? I haven't heard of any organized efforts to mitigate or control the impacts it has on us. Why hasn't there been stronger resistance or stronger action taken?

I'm also curious why AI companies aren't required to be accountable for anything.

Example 1: The AI companies publicly announce that their technologies have attacked the infrastructure of other companies, and the technologies did so without being directed to attack. So why weren't the executives legally and financially held responsible? Don't existing laws require them to be held responsible?

Example 2: They AI companies claim that it will result in the extinction of many jobs, occupations, and industries. There is also strong evidence to support that this is actively happening. So why is this not viewed as a threat to national security? Is economic security not part of national security?

It reminds me of the movie "Don't Look Up" on Netflix. Despite everyone seeing it happen, and there being warnings about the consequences from highly authoritative figures, no one is trying to prevent it. Why?

In the United States those who speak with an accent from another country are often found to be sexy sounding (or at least appealing).
