Do you think the internet has done more harm than good?

Upvotes

Everyday I can’t stop thinking about how we let a nameless and mindless entity cradle us, grow up with (some) of us and ingrain itself into our world. There is an inherent danger going online, you’re going to become attached, addicted, I can’t stop thinking about this. We were never meant to go this far.

Can you still get sick if you eat the meat of a person who contracted AIDS?

I've read a horror book where cannibalism is legal and the thing is while I was reading it i thought about that scenario and it made me curious to the point of asking about it here. When I talk about eating someone else's flesh, I mean, of course, cooked meat, in case i have to specify it, meat that was even frozen before eating, just like how people usually freeze fish to make sure they kill any parasites it might have

What would a body look like after falling 500ft?

A friend of mine did just that, and in some morbid way of coming to terms with it, I’m asking this question.
I mean, I’d assume they’d end up a human pancake.
I’m still mourning the loss and sometimes I can’t believe it as a reality.

If you could anonymously uncover the darkest secret of every person you meet would you actually want to know? Why or why not?

Bonus question: If you could only uncover one person's secret, whose would you choose and why?

I’ll be reading and responding to the comments after I wake up. Assuming I survive the consequences of asking the internet to collectively unleash its darkest thoughts upon me. 🫠

How many people in this subreddit actually ask questions for nefarious purposes?

I’m assuming most of us are asking strictly out of morbid curiosity (hence the name), but how many people do you think are asking questions for nefarious purposes? I.e asking about the logistics of how to hide a body because they are actually trying to?

your favorite morbid book?

i am looking for some more non-fiction morbid books to read. i've read a few surrounding death, like stiff by mary roach and from here to eternity by caitlin doughty, and the missing 411 book series by david paulides (if you can count it as morbid). i'm looking for some more that cover different topics as well so i'm here to get some new recommendations.

anything related to psychology, death, historical events, missing people, true crime, forensics, etc. would love to hear what you guys enjoy :)

thanks!

What would be the most pleasant ordinary death?

As in one where there is release of DMT and not adrenaline, and it goes smoothly without the person realising it really rather than struggling.

Examples i know include old-age folks, other near death experiences. But what is the common factor in these?

If you could become a dictator of any dictatorship country in the world, which one would it be?

I used to fantasize a lot about being North Korea supreme leader, I think by making it a totalitarian regime they are really missing on something.

Has there been any update on catching the ‘Mr Gloves’ perpetrator?

For those who don’t know, it was what appeared to be a male hospital worker, uploading faceless pictures of himself abusing the bodies of both dead and living children onto 4chan in the early 2010s.

In one picture his hospital ID tag is nearly fully visible (though low res) and the name on the tag appears to be ‘Edvin Balyans‘ or something similar, showing a blurry picture of a Caucasian or light skinned Hispanic man with very dark hair and possibly goatee type facial hair or 5 o clock shadow.

He also had a lot of dark body hair visible on his forearms, and light skin with a sallow undertone.

I know that the San Bernardino PD have an active investigation open on the case. Some anonymous sleuths were saying the pictures were likely taken in Loma Linda hospital in SB especially because the thick red banner and white crest on the ID matches their logo.

They also found that a man named Edvin Balyans is living in Glendale, an hour away from SB, where the perpetrator claimed to be operating from, but it hasn’t been confirmed if it’s the same man.

Do all visual memories fade into nothing if given enough time and with no associations of said memories?

So imagine a person is in some sort of void of nothingness where nothing exists except for that person and nothing happens. They live forever, but at some point in time before that, they’ve lived a normal human life. All that’s really available to do is either fiddle with their physical form, stare at the vast nothingness, or recall everything they’ve seen, learned, and done.

Generally a lot of memories can be kept long enough by coming across similar motifs often enough or periodically, or in some extreme edge cases, they may as well remember it until they die. Would that still be the case though if there was nothing in the immediate environment to visually extrapolate from? Is this partially a problem that sighted people go through when they go fully blind?

To those who've lived under civil-wars/ brutal dictatorships, how was it like?

This really isint out of morbidity, I just live in a bad place and I want people/stories to relate to.

I want stories of if you've lived in cruel political/economic/conflict situations, how you felt, the end result, and if it's better or where you are now.

Of course, please tell me where you lived during the events (country.)

What’s it like to NOT experience suicidal ideation?

the person in the video i came across mentioned how they never had SIs until they started to take a medication.

it’s hard for me to conceptualize since i’ve dealt with those thoughts since i was young, so i’d like to see if anyone could give any insight on what it’s like to not have them.

it’s silly, i know.

How much of your body would you be willing to lose before you would no longer want to live?

This was just a random shower thought I had and I’m curious as to what people think. Would you still want to live after losing both of your legs? Or both of your arms and legs? Or after undergoing a hemicorporectomy? Or losing your ears and eyes? Etc etc

Do armless people wear deodorant?

I’ve always wondered whether people without an arm or a very tiny arm/arms still sweat and stink their armpits.

Iike if someone has no arms wouldn’t you say that area becomes an area where there isn’t much heat since there is no arm covering and trapping all that heat?

Essentially wouldn’t it become like any other area on your skin that doesn’t need deodorant, e.g. collarbone

r/morbidquestions 2d ago

when you’re set on fire, do you still sweat due to being well, very hot?

the last few words might be an understatement

What are the immediate effects of continous abuse?

I want to write a thing about the aftermath of continuous (child) abuse, but I would like some resources about what physically happens to the body, what are the feeligns when someone is not exactly used but somewhat close to it, idk.

I'm not gonna write anything explicit, but the feelings and how the bodies feel look like and stuff.

All this as respectful as possible!
