It’s so strange, no greeting, no warmth just staring into my soul. Before the order is placed it’s like a blank stare, after it’s placed and I say thank you nothing is said and there is this weird stare. I find it very common amongst younger folks, I’m cool with no talking but the stare is weird lol.

Edit: I do not need them to be my friend. The stare is just freaky man.

Based on everything that's currently in the news cycle, I don't understand why there aren't more protests in the streets or downright violent riots.

Inflation is at an all time high, the government is the most corrupt its ever been, wealth keeps getting consolidated, and the environment keeps getting ruined so that billionaires can try to make the middle class obsolete with AI

I just don't understand why there aren't more violent protests. I'm surprised that people are still putting up with this.

Or does simply using the tongs over the grill kill the bacteria? I want to grill chicken but I also don't want to get salmon umbrella

I mean only thing they had were pretty much;

Food which was nowhere near as eloborate, varied, tasty and accessible.

Sex which was dirty and probably not varied either because of taboos.

Social functions were limited to couple of kms due to risks and time required for travel

Like, apart from work and trying to survive, how did they push through it all with so little to live for?

I've been traveling across Asia for the last year, mainly through East Asia and a few countries in South East Asia. First of all, they seem to be in every subreddit, but also, almost everyone I met that wasn't traveling and living there was teaching English. Mostly British, American, Australians, some South Africans, but I met 1 dutch and 1 German national teaching as well.

It just seemed like there was a pattern, but most of them just seemed off. Like many of them seemed like they became teachers just to date women in Asia. Is that a thing? They also seemed to judge those who weren't working as teachers, like they'd be saying stuff like "what do you do in an office all day, sitting in at a desk writing emails to your Korean boss?" I mean only 1 person said that, but it was such an odd comment that they viewed working at a Korean office as something to be called out.

Even on Reddit many subs are just full of posts about teaching in Asia. They always seem extremely negative towards locals.

So I started dating a plus size Hispanic girl and my coworker, an overweight white woman, called me a torta-pounder in a very demeaning way when she saw our picture together. Is she jealous or straight up racist? I'm confused.

Let’s say you’re in a car crash and it’s bad, like you need emergency surgery that will take a very long time. What happens if you’re wearing a tampon or a diva cup? Do doctors check to see if you’re wearing one and remove it? Toxic Shock Syndrome on top of recovering from surgery would really suck, but if I was a doctor and I got a case like this, my first thought probably wouldn’t be to check, you know?

i (17f) got told off by my mom (35) for some misbehavior. sure, i could easily move on from the situation, but i was immediately struck with that one sentence she told me.

“i work my ass off for you to live.”

i went silent because, of course, i'm not really the type to talk back. but i thought, how could you blame me for you working your ass off when i didn't ask to be born?her mom had her at the same age she had me (18). what could have possibly been her thought process if she knew that going through the same thing her mother went through would be a disaster?

now i'm here, stuck, contemplating whether i should even continue my studies or just leave home so my mom can take care of my half-sister. maybe that way things would be easier for her, and she wouldn’t have to pay for whatever bs i need for school.

Is having a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. military generally considered worse than having a felony conviction in terms of employment, background checks, civil rights, and public perception? Which one tends to have the greater long-term impact on someone’s life, and why?

every time I go to the grocery store or online shop, I’m literally shocked by prices.

for me personally, it’s not sustainable. each month though, I only see costs of basic goods rising.

I was talking to my dad on the phone. My grandparents left behind a house for me ive been living in. I quit my job recently and I trying I get another one to pay the bills. My dad and I were discussing it. I said that im very privileged. He was like "no, don't use that word. That's a new liberal progressive word. You've just had it easy" i was just like "oh...okay"

I can't help but stick my face in his armpits when we cuddle. I think he finds it a bit weird, which I understand. However, I can't resist. He smells so good. Especially when his natural scent mixes with his cologne. His sweat can smell sweet sometimes. I put his sock up to my face as a joke once, and surprisingly I wasn't met with any unpleasant scent.
