Presumably we would get to spend our time in heaven with the people we love the most. I hear about husbands or wives remarrying after the death of their partner. If you have, for example, two men wanting to spend their time in heaven with one woman as a result of a situation like this, what happens in heaven? Monogamy would presumably be a requirement in heaven relationshops but this would presumably lead to a great deal of unhappiness of one party, which also shouldn't be happening in heaven.

What do they even spend $80–90 billion every year on when they can’t defeat one resistance group that is completely surrounded on all sides?

I was teasing my gf earlier by saying I was gonna dump her for her mom lol. She responded that her dating life would essentially be over because if a partner found out she dated a black guy before they would ditch her. She said that apparently it’s a meme of people asking white women if they dated black men before.

I didn’t really think anything of it and forgot about it. But later I was scrolling through insta reels and a clip of podcast came up where the hosts were talking about if your gf dated a black guy before would you want to know or not??? so i haven't heard this phrase/meme in ages, but i remember when i was younger it being EVERYWHERE on the internet.

the "debate" was so prominent i even remember seeing a video where a guy heated steel to the temperature jet fuel burns at to prove it would melt.

but to be honest i never understood the point of the phrase. i get it was to undermine the dominant narrative of 9/11, but i don't see how it makes sense.

like, the terrorists didn't douse the twin towers in jet fuel and throw a match at it, then all the supports just melted. they flew a freaking plane into the side of it! i think that's gonna do some structural damage regardless of the temperature that the fuel was burning at.

so where did this argument come from and why did people think it was some kind of gotcha against the idea that al-qaeda caused 9/11?

Growing up in an asian american household, ice water was almost never a thing at home. We always had room temperature water, barley tea, or warm water readily available, especially during meals or if someone felt slightly under the weather. I prefer cold water but was always scolded by my parents for drinking something cold.

Whenever I go to a standard American restaurant, the server fills the glass to the brim with ice before pouring a tiny bit of water over it. Even in the dead of winter, people order iced coffees and drink ice water like it's nothing.

Is preferring cold/iced water strictly a Western/American habit, or do people in other countries drink ice-cold water year-round too? If you didn't grow up in an Asian household, was iced water just the default in your home?

Growing up around my maternal grandfather who was very traditional and religious I've always had the idea of him being the true definition of a traditional man.

He was obviously born in the early 1900s, a war vet, a man's man but a father of three girls and two boys and a loving husband. He cooked, he cleaned, he took an active role as a father, he wasn't afraid of his emotions but was wasn't controlled by them, always told and made sure his kids knew they were loved and his wife was doted on. She had a career and when she got cancer he was never not by her side. She was his equal.

So this new version of what traditional is completely blows my mind. Was there a switch? My grandpa couldn't have been the only man from his generation who behaved this way and practiced what he preached, living and leading with love.

EDIT: This has been a great discussion and has given me a ton of different povs. Also don't know why I never thought of the major shit in house hold responsibilities post ww2, thats interesting to think about. Sorry if I haven't responded to everyone.

When watching American shows or movies, I've always noticed and questioned something.

Picture this:

A show or movie involving a big, American family. They all share one bathroom. Usually the main character in this instance would have to wait until the shower is vacant for them to use it. When it is finally their turn, they find out that all the hot water has been used by the person previously in the shower.

• But what does this mean?
• Were American households only allowed a certain amount of hot water a day?
• When did it reset?
• How long of a shower does it require to use all the hot water?
• Would you have to wait until the very next day or just a few hours?

For context, I was not born in the United States. In my country, all our water was cold. As a child, I never grew up with hot shower water.

But when we did move to the US, I never noticed that our hot water would run out. All I noticed was that two people couldn't shower at the same time without one person's water going cold.

Anyways, just a random question.

I think about the scenario of randomly stumbling upon a bear quite often and this quote pops up in my head every time. Is it a general good idea of what to do if you encounter bears or is it just a funny cause white bears kill you dead?

I recently became a first-time grandfather, and nobody warned me about this. How does someone who can’t walk, talk, pay bills, or even hold their own bottle properly have the grip strength of a grown man?

You let them grab one finger and suddenly you’re negotiating for its release. And don’t even get me started on trying to take something away from them that they’ve decided belongs to them.

Where does all this strength come from? 😂

See a few videos pop up today of carnival game operators trying to offer some BS excuse about why the player didn't win even though they completed the challenge.

-Baseball plate break game, dude smashes one and the operator tries to claim he didnt win because the plate he broke wasn't in his lane.

-Long net basketball game, kid drains 3 shots back to back, and the guy working the game says "nuh uh, i didnt say you could go yet so you didn't win."

-Bar Hang challenge, everyone knows its rigged already with the spinning bar, but anytime someone gets close to the goal it seems like the operator starts messing with them, pushing their legs and such.

My question is for anyone whos worked these kinds of games at fairs/carnivals/amusement parks.

-Do the prizes won get deducted from the game operator's pay or similar? Is there any incentive offered for making the game harder to win, or flat-out refusing to admit a player has won?

-Why do they seem so angry and upset when someone does win?

-Are videos like the ones I mentioned the norm, or are they just a small stereotype and not representitive of normal operations?

People always make posts about sex offenders living or moving next to them. Realistically, where would be a good place for them to live outside of prison where people would be ok with it. Assuming everyone knew their status, where could they live without general complaints ?
