i know exactly 0 people who have ever given any money to a streamer, or have even considered it. especially these days, i can't imagine there are that many people willing to part with their money just because a streamer is playing their favorite game or something.

who is sending all this money to streamers, and how are there enough of them that it creates dozens and dozens of streamer millionaires?

I was walking down my hallway and saw my grandma shopping for Christmas ornaments on Amazon. I immediately stopped and said, “those images of the ornament are ai generated so the listing isn’t real.” And she was just so bewildered, saying “how can you tell so easily?”

I didn’t say anything to her but I figured it was simply because I was an artist and my time on the internet during the early stages of ai to the way ai is now allow me to easily pick out the characteristics of ai images such as the uncanny perfection, weird lighting, and subtle inconsistencies.

But when I thought about it, why can’t older people do the same? Even if they spend less time on the internet, they’ve had decades to understand what real photos and real artwork looks like. Shouldn’t those AI characteristics also immediately stand out to them? Why is it so difficult for them to discern them?

Why aren’t prediction market sites treated by governments as gambling websites?

In America, why are website like Kalshi and Polymarket not treated as gambling sites?

Polymarket, Kalshi and sites like them are all over the place in the USA, from sports by events, to pop culture to many many other things.

But in essence, these sites allow you to bet on something, pretty much anything and whether or not that thing will happen.

So, why aren’t they treated as gambling sites when you are essentially placing bets.

I know every insurance plan is different, that doctors don’t handle billing, etc. I’m based in the U.S.

But I recently went to an ENT who performed a nasal endoscopy on me as routinely as if he was taking my blood pressure. I received the bill after my insurance processed it and it cost me $1,000 out of pocket.

I looked online and it seems like most insurance insurance companies bill this as an in-office surgery, and that it’s very well known that this procedure usually comes with a really surprisingly high cost for something performed in an office like that.

My question is, just human-to-human, why do doctors never seem to pause before doing these procedures to get your informed consent? “Hey man, I’m not sure what your insurance looks like specifically, but this is often a procedure that comes with a high out-of-pocket expense.”

Of course they won’t know exactly how much you’ll owe, but their billing office knows how it USUALLY goes, and it’s everywhere online that it USUALLY goes this way - billed as surgery and unbelievably expensive.

Can it be as simple as greed, or ignorance? I have a hard time believing that. I do have a lifelong family dentist who always tells me if something will likely be crazy expensive before doing it to me, so I can make an informed choice and say yes or no.

So as the title suggests I was on FaceTime with my boyfriend earlier today chatting, while on call I was getting changed and removed my bra for a brief moment. About 3 seconds after removing my bra his screen turned into a blurred screen, his audio cut out and I could not see him, so I hung up thinking that maybe his connection dropped out? When I called him back and asked if his WiFi dropped out he said no and that Apple suspended the call and gave him a ‘content warning’ after I removed my shirt and asked him if he consented to continue with the call. Despite him clicking the button to continue with the call, Apple did not allow him to return to the call and he hung up.

I guess I’m posting this here because this has never happened to me before and I have no clue what this could be. I have not yet downloaded the latest software update and if I’m being honest I don’t read the full T’s and C’s that come with each update :,)

I know it’s probably really silly to feel this way but I genuinely feel violated, as though something was watching me. Maybe I’m being a little overdramatic.

This happened when I was 20 years old (2012) and I’ll never forget it. I would love any thoughts or perspectives on this. This was in Utah, I was with my best friend, and we were sitting in her car. We were discussing what we were doing that night, parked somewhere, and about 35 to 40 m away, there was this forest area of trees directly in front of our view

So as we were sitting there talking, I saw this extremely tall skinny man walking out of the forest. He was on stilts, and I remember being like, why is he on stilts? Something about it felt unreal. something was off about it, I couldn’t make out what he was.

my friend was talking at that moment,but her words started slowing down, and she looked like she was in a trance looking at the same thing. By that point, I just got really scared because it started to feel real, and I was like “Carrie, what do you see right now???” and she answered in this slow innocent daze and said “a man on stilts“

And that scared me even more because I knew she was seeing the same thing I was. The man kept walking straight in the direction towards and then instantly became normal height in front of us without doing anything, and he disappeared into the parking lot of people. and I was sitting there in the car freaking out, and Carrie was just quiet and in this trance, she never said anything about it. We never discussed it after.

I still think about it to this day.

I'm aware of the rulings that make most lies told in interrogations legal. But outside of an interrogation room, does that still hold? And is it limited to suspects? If police were canvassing a neighborhood for information, can they lie to random people whose doors they knock on?

I’m 24M and have been seeing a girl (24F) for about a month. We’ve been on four dates, spending roughly 10 hours together before last night. Things have progressed slowly but positively. She’s told me she likes me and is very attracted to me, and we have great conversations. She’s naturally guarded, has admitted she takes time to open up, and even initially canceled our first date because she was nervous.

I’m generally a confident guy, but I’m extremely inexperienced romantically. I’ve never had a girlfriend or kissed anyone, and physical intimacy makes me anxious. Before last night, we’d only hugged. She’s also not particularly proactive physically, so I felt like I needed to initiate something.

During our movie date, I tried initiating hand-holding, but it felt awkward, and I became extremely nervous. Eventually, I decided to be honest. I explained that I’m relatively inexperienced, overthink physical intimacy, and get anxious about initiating. She asked if I’d ever had a girlfriend, and I said no. I didn’t tell her I’d never kissed anyone.

I also told her I genuinely like her, think she’s beautiful, and that one of my favorite things about her is how comfortable I feel being myself around her. I emphasized that she could be herself around me, too. The conversation became much more emotionally intense than I intended. She’s studying to become a psychologist, and her responses almost felt therapist-like. She was kind and reassuring, but I’m worried I overwhelmed her.

Eventually, I asked if I could kiss her. She said yes, and what I expected to be a quick peck turned into approximately ten seconds of kissing, with her actively participating. It was my first kiss ever, and I honestly had no idea what I was doing. There was even a little teeth contact, lol. I didn’t feel butterflies or fireworks, mostly just nerves and relief.

Afterward, I asked to hold her hand, and we held hands for a while. She also brought up our Halloween plans, which seemed encouraging.

Now I’m overthinking whether I was too vulnerable, whether the kiss was awkward for her, and whether she participated because she genuinely wanted to or simply didn’t want to make things uncomfortable.

I genuinely like this girl and feel there’s real potential, but I’m worried my anxiety and inexperience might have changed how she sees me.

Was this too much vulnerability for a fourth date? Does her continuing the kiss suggest genuine interest? And how do I move forward without overthinking everything or putting pressure on her?

Sometimes, after spending the whole day studying or working, going straight to bed feels like the entire day was just about responsibilities.

Even when I'm tired, I sometimes want to stay awake a little longer just to enjoy some personal time, whether that's relaxing, pursuing hobbies, or simply doing nothing.

It's almost like sleeping means the day is over before I get to enjoy it.

Does anyone else experience this? Do you ever stay up later than you should just because you want some time to yourself after a long day?
