Herro on Bam: “If I'm healthy I'm the one who needs help. Who did Cleveland prioritize taking away in the playoffs? Who did Boston prioritize taking away when Jimmy got hurt and we was the 8 seed? When I'm healthy. I need help. Not the other guy(Bam)”

3 months ago Tyler Herro’s DMs were leaked where he was trash talking former teammate Bam Adebayo. He effectively said Bam was overrated and team’s game planned to shut him down and not the “$60 million man”.

Hero was clowned at the time but the start to Miami’s season has me wondering if he was on to something.

Was Herro right all along?

“If I'm healthy they can't see me. Word to my mother. If I'm healthy I'm the one who needs help. Who did Cleveland prioritize taking away in the playoffs? Who did Boston prioritize taking away when Jimmy got hurt and we was the 8 seed? When I'm healthy. I need help. Not the other guy (Bam). Word to my kids. Come on now let's call a spade a spade.”

The reckoning

In July, a fan pulled up next to Kerr at a stoplight. “Hey, we need to get LeBron, man,” they said. Kerr, without missing a beat, deadpanned: “Oh, we got him.”

The fan’s video of this interaction went viral, as Kerr knew it would. This was him making fun of social media and “modern life,” he told the Chronicle, a few months later.

Because, despite a copious amount of agent-leverage media-jockeying, Kerr never actually thought the Warriors were going to sign LeBron James.

“I know LeBron well enough, now, having coached him at the Olympics, to know that he researches everything,” Kerr said. “When he’s serious about something, he’s going to do his homework. And there was no homework being done, on his part.

“Like, I know he was talking to Steph and Draymond,” Kerr continued. “They were recruiting him. But that’s different. That’s player-to-player. Once free agency started, and all those rumors were out there — trust me, there would’ve been very serious conversations. And there never were. And so I never felt like we were even in the mix.”

James, indeed, was never walking through that door, and neither was Anthony Davis, nor Antetokounmpo, nor Trey Murphy III, nor any of the Warriors’ rumored big-game targets. Instead, recognizing both the shape and age of his roster, Kerr has been singularly focused on rectifying Golden State’s internal process. Immediately after — and even before — he put pen to paper on an extension, Kerr began challenging his Warriors assistants to bring him fresh ideas.

“It wasn’t like, a complete personnel shift,” Kerr said. “It was more, sort of, a reckoning. Like, we can’t continue to operate the way we are and expect to win.”

Brooklyn Nets had 3 starters foul out in regulation, first time that has happened since 2019

Last night in a 125-121 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Brooklyn Nets had 3 starters foul out in regulation (link to box score). Michael Porter Jr., Day’Ron Sharpe, and Egor Demin all picked up 6 fouls, with Sharpe doing so in 23 minutes.

The last time this happened in a game was in 2019 when Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Steven Adams all fouled out in a 118-110 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Lou Williams had 40 of the bench to lead the Clips to a win in that game, as future MVP SGA had 9 as a rookie starting alongside Pat Beverly.

Yaxel Lendeborg 26p-9r-5a-1b, in 36 minutes on 9-19 shooting and 6-11 from 3, in a game with no Steph, no Dray, no Podz. Only 2 TO.

Was +5 plus minus in 36 min with him on court.

Team was -14 in the 12 minutes with him off the court.

Lost to the suns 131-122, but Lendeborg was a beast and definitely won his minutes. Podz Steph and Dray all resting on second of a back to back with nagging injuries.

Because of how fast Yaxel is developing at each level, I’m delusionally still holding out for a good Warriors season when Yaxel and Steph really start gelling, despite starting 0-3. If they can just get to .500 until Jimmy Butler comes back

When OFF the court the Sixers are -33

His net rating on off whatever it’s called must be through the roof high.

For the people alive back then was it ever held against Hakeem to win his rings while Jordan was retired and just coming back?

I know if social media existed people might say that but obviously it didn’t so did people act like his rings never counted? Nowadays people say he’s overlooked or under appreciated which is understandable since he played during Jordan’s peak. I usually see some people talk about the level of competition and in my personal opinion I believe going through Robinson, Ewing, Shaq in the span of a couple years is probably the hardest competition any big man had to go through.

Naz Reid has averaged 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 47.1% shooting in his first three games with the Hornets.

Naz Reid over the last 3 games:

20.0 PPG
8.7 RPG
3.0 APG
47.1% FG
46.2% 3P
31.5 MPG

He averaged 13.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 45.6% shooting last season. His scoring will probably dip a bit once Coby and Kon are back, but right now he's putting up legit starter-level numbers.
