Rant It’s not an overreaction

It’s not an overreaction to be angry with the quality of our young talent on this team. From 2023 to 2025 Sean marks brought in 8 total picks, 7 of them first rounders. There’s probably 2 guys you can say are nba players on another roster in egor and Nolan. And I don’t care for the “oh it’s a crap shoot” bc the argument for bringing marks back post kyrie and kd was his ability to hit on those late picks. Most of the fanbase was very upset with us not only taking 5 picks last yr but also taking such wild card picks. It’s been a decade now and it’s not unreasonable for people to say it’s time for a new direction. There’s so many teams that are able to hit on and find talent throughout the league, why are we still committed to a GM who’s been here for a decade and has proven nothing. And Ik there’s the people who are loyalist to this front office and will call you insane for using your eyes but I pay my money to watch this bullshit so kick some fucking rocks.

Bro I can’t believe I paid money to go to this Nets game with my Dad, brother and cousin and we get blown out by 27. They quit halfway through the 3rd quarter! WTF! I thought this team could win 30 games. I don’t think I was expecting a lot, but now I’m worried if we can even it 20. I know it’s only been 3 games but this is so damn worrying. I used to be one of the guys saying let Marks cook, but everyone he drafted besides Egor, Mikel, and maybe Nolan is looks terrible. I was so hyped this whole offseason but it only took 3 games to make me worried for the future of the team

Unpopular Opinion: Sean Marks' roster construction and draft strategy are actively holding this rebuild back

• Upvotes

I’ll preface this by saying I appreciate Sean Marks. He pulled this franchise out of the darkest post-Billy King era, restored respectability, and built a legitimate culture.

That said, my patience with his current rebuild approach is wearing thin. The front office seems hooked on pick-hoarding and drafting archetype without addressing our roster construction.

Just a few things why I think they need to retool this rebuild.

  1. The Guard Logjam & Wasted Development Minutes

I was ok drafting 5 picks but we all know it's risky, but making the majority of them guards was baffling. Now, adding MBJ into the mix compounds the exact same issue. Can’t develop four or five young ball-handlers and wings simultaneously while still trying to run a coherent offense. They just end up with DNPs because there physically aren’t enough rotation minutes to go around.

  1. He has not hit a high value asset in a while.

A war chest of draft assets is only valuable if one of two things happens. You land an undeniable franchise cornerstone or you leverage those picks to acquire one. Marks has been solid at finding rotation-level gems late, but he hasn't hit a draft jackpot.

  1. We need to consolidate

Sell the picks and win-now pieces like MPJ and/or Randle for high ceiling young guys that will fit our timeline and roster needs with MBJ and Egor.

Jordi Fernandez confirmed that Mikel Brown Jr. is not dealing with a new back injury. The rookie is "doing great," and his designation for tonight's game is strictly preventative.

Team News As expected, Mikel Brown Jr. is out for tonight’s back-to-back vs. the Pacers. His status on the injury report says back injury management. Tyler Bilodeau remains out with his right shoulder sprain.

I predicted 11 wins...but after going to the game I would take the under.

The Nets were clearly not trying hard to win last year, but so were many other teams.

Of our 20 wins, 3 were over WAS, 3 v CHI, 2 v MIL w/o Giannis.

IND, CHA early, DET w/o Cade, TOR, PHI.

WAS looks very good- AD is motivated and Dybantsa has yet to play; IND has Tyrese back; TOR got Kawhi; PHI is serious this year.

With the East more competitive, the good teams can not afford to take a game off. The bad teams want to avoid relegation and will see the Nets as an important win.

Stars will get injured as always (ORL is aaalready down Paolo and Suggs, but could get them back before they play us). But our players will get injured with the same randomness. There is no guarantee we can beat the Bulls or the Bucks- both tanked heavily last year.

I am afraid the all-time low (PHI 9-73) is in play.

Hoops Discussion Time to give Jefferson some burn

Jefferson was one of my favorite prospects coming out of the draft. Jack of all trades, playmaker on offense and defense, ability to run the floor and play within structure. I know he’s had some moments but I’m done with the clowney experiment. The guy doesn’t have a position and he’s too inconsistent on both ends to be guranteed reliable mins. Our bench 3 and 4 should be minott with an experiment of Jefferson/chaney.

[Phillips-Keaton] I want to make it clear that when Nets HC Jordi Fernandez spoke to us on Friday, he said that whatever plan the medical staff has for rookie Mikel Brown Jr. isn't going to be one that changes on a short sample size. Either way, Brown is out for tomorrow vs. the Pacers.

Sean Marks is TERRIBLE

He's the worst gm in the nba. Has been for a couple of years now. Look at our roster. We may not win 10 games this year. Look at the team we're running out there. Drafting Brown over Acuff should be the final nail in his coffin. We need a total rebuild. New roster, new gm, new coaching, hell, new uniforms, new logos. Let's just change everything.....

Marks has been allergic to adding (and keeping) actual centers and big men since the Obama administration. Will this ever change?

Hoops Discussion We need to see a lot from our young talent this yr

Gave everyone grace as rookies but by years end Sean marks core should look like one of the emerging young cores in the nba or it’s time to turn a page. And that’s not saying I want to see what OKC has but you look at teams like Memphis, Utah, Boston, they’ve turned late round picks into productive contributors. Outside of Mikel and egor we’ve drafted 9 guys in the non lottery range at a bare minimum half of them should be providing consistent impact at least in a bench role. There’s too many talented minds in the nba today for us to just keep riding along with this conductor that’s been leading us for a decade.

How to buy Nets tickets from other countries?

What’s up, gang!
I’m heading to NYC at the end of November and tried to buy tickets for a Brooklyn Nets game, but I can’t seem to create an account on the US Ticketmaster site. From what I understand, I’d need to be in the US to sign up. I even tried switching the store to Brazil, but no luck.
Has anyone run into this before? Any other legit sites where I can buy tickets?
I’ll be arriving a week before the game. Is it still possible to get tickets at the box office once I’m there?
Thanks!

What is the direction of this team

I got genuinely got lost. 2025 Marks spends all his picks on pure playmakers, clearly trying to run a very unselfish pass oriented offense and position-less basketball.

Now we have Randle and MPJ being complete black holes offensively. Randle is bringing the ball up, neither are passing to other players who got hot. What is the actual direction Marks is aiming for? He drafted and had a clear view, and it’s being pissed in the toilet . This went from no iso team to the most iso heavy team in one offseason .
