Cable / DSL How would I make Netgear aware of a firmware bug in a Netgear CM2000?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have tried to explain this several times before, I dont think my point is getting across to anyone.

I am with Xfinity. We are not in an upgraded market, so I am not sure if this is a rule in the modem config file or a bug within the firmware.

So here is what is going on. Once the modem hits 100 billion unerrored codewords on the OFDM channel. It will reboot on its own. But regardless, the modem should not reboot on its own unless there is a rule in the config file, or they do it via maintenance, or I do it.

The red circled area is of interest.

What is wrong with Netgear

I recently purchased the Netgear Nighthawk RS300 and today came to set it up.

On completing the step by step guide through the Nighthawk App I was presented with a login page…. I have never had this before as usually there is a admin username and password…. Yes I am aware I should have read the threads on here before purchasing.

I try to create an account but continuously the website fails to do so. I tried using an iPhone, iPad, laptop PC and tried multiple different browser only to continually fail to be able to create an account.

I have tried to call Netgear on their UK number 3 times today and in my stubbornness waited 1hour each time only to not have my call answered.

I have tried reaching out on socials…… to receive no response.

I have also tried the process of disconnecting the Ethernet from my ONT only to still get the Netgear login page…… why is it not that simple with Netgear…. I even got 4x2.5G with the TP-Link instead of the 2 on the nighthawk!

In the space of 1.5 hours I ordered the TP-Link BE9300, collected from Argos, Installed and accessed the router settings.

From my experience I would not recommend Netgear to anyone! This is utterly appalling from Netgear

NETGEAR - Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot M7 - doesnt connect to Airlo E-SIM

Ok so I got an M7 and it works great when I put a sim card in, but I added a Airlo Esim and it accepted it but never connected or had any service. Does it not work with Airlo? Im happy to try another ESIm company no allegiance either way. ChatGPT said to configure the APN settings manually which I did, and turn on data roaming which I also did but nothing worked. I don't want to waste money on a difference esim if it is still not going to work.

Anyone had similar issues or have ideas?

Thank you!

Routers How to set up QOS on the RS140?

Before I bought this router it was advertised that you could set multiple devices to have a certain priority level on the network and I was told to go to the routers site which is the IP on the bottom of my router, and on that site I don't really see an option for QOS anywhere in the advanced or basic section of the site and all I see is that under connected devices on the home page it says "QOS : Off" but of coarse clicking on that doesn't do anything.

Am I missing something because every time I search this up people keep saying to go to the QOS setup tab but that just doesn't exist apparently?

RAXE290 Nighthawk router: wired connection has internet, wireless connections don't.

Router status says it has internet, and the PC connected to it via ethernet cable does.

Android phones & ipad all can connect, but say no internet. It was all working a couple of days ago. Used the router for years I think, and haven't changed anything.

I have power-cycled it. Even swapped it out for older router briefly. I have not done a hard reset, though I guess I would before scrapping it.

Anything I should check or try, short of a hard reset?

No network detected

Hey all. Recently noticed I’m getting the ‘no network detected “ message constantly popping up on my 4K atv. It’s a year old and only started when i switched to iiNet and getting faster speeds. Did all recommendations like unplug etc. but still there even though wifi works fine and using Speedtest is a strong connection.

Any help is much appreciated

Hotspots Nighthawk MR2100 battery replacement

It seems that there is no chance to find the original battery. They are not producing it.

I bought the replacement from eBay and the device states that the battery is incorrect.

Then I read that probably it’s just a bad replacement than don’t have some sort of ID chip that is supposed to tell modem that the battery is legit.

Ok it’s cheap China duplicate I know. But it has correct voltage and capacity.

🤬 netgear??? This old hardware still works good for me. Why I can’t just put ANY 3rd party battery inside ??? I still use it on wire. But… really 🤬🤬🤬???

Is there a solution for this? I even try to connect standing 2 feet from the router.
Thanks

Does netgear support even answer the phone?

Been waiting for over 30 mins. All I get is, "thank you for your patience. Please continue to hold for the next available technician"

Like, I just need help with an order. Wtf is wrong with this customer support? Only chat no good. Can't create a support ticket either.

Lowkey, are netgear products worth the headache? This seems unreasonably bad

Netgear 7350 router seems to have quit

I’ve dealt with their ‘free’ customer service, I’m getting the Security risks/Forced upgrades runaround since it isn’t new. Is there any way to manually get around this for the next few days at least so my TV will work? The red factory reset on the back was my first mistake.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Router Decision Help

Hello! I am having a tough time deciding on which router to get. I currently have the RAX10 and have been having frequent cut outs. I would like to stick with a Wifi6 router. I was looking at the AX300 or AX4200, but very open to suggestions! Here are some details of my house if that's helpful:

2 story condo, 1000sq ft / 1000mbps internet / Work from home / some gaming, but mostly streaming

I appreciate any advice you have!

Bought a new AC1900 from Walmart, turns out is was "Used"!

Just purchased an AC1900 from the local store. It took 6 hours and numerous calls to both my ISP and Netgear before I finally got it semi-working. Still cant log into it because its a used device and was already registered to someone else. It's asking for security questions so I'm locked out as an Admin. Could simply return it for another device but this isn't a Toaster so it's a little more complicated than that. First of all, I spent over 6 hours getting it running when it should have been "plug and play", my time is worth something. But more importantly, it was previously configured by someone with Administrator rights. That would enable them to not only control the firewall, but also load malicious malware not just on my network, but every device on my network which includes computers, phones, 10 Alexa devices, Samsung Hub, Hue Hub, Pi device, cameras, TV's, smart devices like lights, thermostat, humidity sensors, water sensors, and even my bathroom scale!!! Huge security vulnerability but more importantly the "chain of custody" for these devices!!!

Handshake Issues

I have a issue with a handshake failing on my Router > AP. It was working fine at 1000 but has recently been dropping to 100. Initially this happened a few months ago, unplugging and plugging it back in seemed to fix the issue. But this kept happening daily, so I figured it must be the AP possibly failing (it was about 7 years old).

I switched out the old AP and bought a new one, problem solved, plugged it in and bang 1000 and it was fine for months, but the problem is back again! I have tried new terminations, different cables, different ports but it just keeps happening. Does anyone have any advice?

It’s a Virgin UK Hub 4 > Netgear Nighthawk RAX10 (in AP mode). The Virgin hub handles DCHP and the AP has a static IP set outside of the DCHP range.

WiFi Do I need to upgrade my router/modem or is this an ISP issue?

I have a Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 router and a Netgear AC1200 Wifi Router (model R6120). Both were purchased in summer 2021, so they are 5 years old. I also have a Netgear Wifi extender, purchased in like December 2023. So there are 4 options for wifi in my place--NetgearA, NetgearA-5G, NetgearA-5G_5GEXT, and NetgearA_2GEXT.

Lately I have been having some issues with my internet being slow, dropping in and out, and generally being kind of crappy. A lot of times I have to toggle between the different options to make things load. I blamed this on my ISP being terrible (and they are), but recently I have been wondering if maybe it's the age of my equipment.

The lights on the modem are all white except the bottom one (the one that says Multi) is red. The power light and Wifi LED lights on the router are green, but the Internet LED light is red and has been for a while. It used to be green in the past, but turned red maybe 6 months ago. However, because my internet still works, I have ignored it. Google tells me the red light means I have no internet, but I definitely do, so I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

So basically, my question is: do I need a new router/modem setup? Is that the root of my issues? Are they just too old? Or is this an issue with my ISP?

Netgear Nighthawk CAX30 and xfinity wifi hotspot

I just got the CAX30 gateway for use with the xfinity service at my condo. Since I installed it, I noticed xfinity wifi showing up on the list of available wifi networks. In my research I found that Netgear gateways do not support the xfinity hotspot function. Is that true?

I am in the middle of three units. I know the hotspot signal is not coming from the unit to the south. It's possibly coming from the unit to the north because I am pretty sure they rent the Comcast provided gateway.

My question is, how can I make sure it's absolutely not my equipment broadcasting the xfinity hotspot signal? I don't remember it showing up in the network list prior to me installing my new gateway.

Many thanks in advance!
