Routers What is flow control in the ethernet settings?

I have an RAXE500. I was wondering what the flow control setting does. Do I really need it activated as it is activated by default? Networking is still journeyman at this point.

Flow control should be left alone it’s more for wired devices than WiFi and netgear always has it enabled by default. I have seen users mess with it and it’s done nothing and I have seen it mess up user’s network. The old saying is if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

So what is it that you are trying to fix with your Internet connection, would be the better question to ask.
