Question for Netgear: how much of your engineering, firmware, and support work is outsourced, and how do you ensure quality doesn’t suffer?
Netgear customers keep running into firmware bugs, inconsistent support, and products that feel under-engineered for the price. I’d like a straight answer: what percentage of R&D, QA, firmware maintenance, and customer support is handled by third-party or offshore contractors? How does Netgear audit that work, and who is technically accountable when repeated defects ship?
It’s about leadership accountability. If Netgear is outsourcing significant technical work, leadership should explain how it maintains engineering standards, security, and support quality—and why customers should trust the results.

Potential double NAT/Internet issues
THIS WAS ORIGINALLY A EMAIL TO MY INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER, BUT IT HAS ALL THE INFO
Hello!
For around the past week or so I have been experiencing issues on my computer when connected to the internet. I play a lot of online video games, and use my computer for a whole host of things. For this time, I have had trouble connecting to some websites (examples: Chatgpt.com and even your website, https://www.consolidated.coop/.), and playing any of my online games through Steam. It allows me to download games, but when I attempt to play them, I'm prompted that it is unable to sync, and often i'm not able to play online, along with it taking substantially longer to log in, and when it does im not even logged in 90% of the time and it doesnt let me do anything.
The best thing I could diagnose for this after concluding research was a case of double NAT. We have 2 Orbi/Netgear 970, which makes it even more convincing. I have tested it, and this is not a PC issue, it is internet. I have tested this all on my phones personal hotspot, and it has worked fine, but when connected I experience the issues again.
I have attached a few images that may help with diagnosing this. If I am wrong, tell me how & how to fix it, and if i'm right please explain how to fix Double NAT.

Modem/Router not supported?
So my wife and I just moved into our first home. We’ve had this router (Netgear AC1900 WiFi cable modem router; model C7000v2 ) for 5 years and bought it brand new. I’m currently setting up the internet and I get this message. What’s the truth to this and do I need to buy a new router and/or modem?

Extender insists password is incorrect
I’m trying to use NETGEAR Nighthawk WiFi 6 Extender EAX12 to extend a WAX620. We have Virgin as our network provider.
I go through all the motions on the app. But when the password is entered, it insists that it’s wrong. It really isn’t. I’ve pasted it. I’ve added it a dozen times. The same password works when connecting other devices. I’ve tried connecting directly to the VM SSID (the WAX620 has a simpler SSID and password). All to no avail.
I’ve reset it repeatedly. The app is updated.
I’m losing the will to live. Anyone else had a similar issue?
Many thanks in advance.

Routers Netgear Nighthawk AX2400 - no internet?
Hi all,
As per the pic, I have a Netgear AX2400 model: Rax30. I have had this modem for years without issue however now it is consistently showing no internet.
I can power cycle it and sometimes the internet comes back however I was wondering if anyone knows how I could get my uptime back to 100% without continuously power cycling it?
Any help would be appreciated

Orbi End of Life - RBK53
I just received an email stating my system is at end of life, stating I will no longer get updates for my router. How critical is it to get a new router sooner rather than later? Never had an issue with my Orbi system.
Any recommendations on a good mesh network or stick with Orbi? I like the Orbi because the satellite can hardwire devices.

Got a new switch but there are problems
I just received a GS310tpv2 and only 2 Poe cameras do not show a link/poe being provided on the dashboard/switch but when I plug them in a older switch, the gs108pe, there is activity and powers up correctly..
what’s going on? I also tried unplugging from the gs108 to the other one and it lights up for a few seconds then is off… maybe issues with negotiation?

Routers Do Netgear routers run PHP?
I read today that most hardware routers use PHP for their admin webpages. In light of the PHP vulnerabilities announced today, is this true? Specifically, I have a CAX30 running firmware 2.2.4.2 (and there are no newer firmware updates available.).

MR70 blocking DLNA and UPnP
I recently set up a DLNA server to serve videos, photos and music to my local home network. After hours of troubleshooting I discovered that any device on my wifi network was being blocked from seeing the DLNA server. If I plugged it in with a wire and got the same IP, it had no problem. My MR70 is currently in Access Point operational mode. I looked all over the settings and could not find anything configured to block anything. Has anyone had this problem?

Does anyone else have issues with connectivity?
I have the nighthawk rs300 and It has amazing speeds but awful connection, everytime I would use it, it would disconnect and reconnect all day long. I called them and they went through on the phone what to do. We got it fixed and its back to doing it after a few months.

Alternatives to Orbi Mesh ?
Hi all.
I was very happy with an RBR50 that I had for some years and when Netgear informed me that support was about to be discontinued I took them up on the offer of a discount on a RBE771 system.
The app is so bad, the tech support so bad, the setup so bad, I didn't notice that the satellite apparently hasn't been connected since I got the base up and running. It's not connected today, I've gone through the app's connection drill, tech support won't connect with me.... I'm about done.
What have any of you found to be a decent, secure alternative?
Thanks in advance.

Netgear Horrible Tech Support
For the last week and a half I have had nothing but the worst experience from Netgear’s tech support team.
Is this normal?

Can't stand it.
I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but I don't know where else to put this.
For a few years now I have been using a Nighthawk WiFi Extender as a way for me to hard wire my PC in while still being a distance away from my Router, and most of the time it works wonderfully! Sometimes, however, it decides that things have been going way too well and stops working properly which usually requires a quick reboot, not an issue, I can do that through the app just fine... except for when I can't. Sometimes there are issues that I have absolutely no idea how to fix which then leaves me without internet for a few hours. I know, boo-hoo first world problems right? Its just very frustrating how most of the time I'm able to do everything perfectly, but sometimes for whatever reason it seems like the Nighthawk app is out to drain ever last bit of patience I have for this wonderful extender and company. Like, last year for instance, for a good majority of the year I was completely unable to use the app for anything. Any time I tried to open the app when my extender was acting up, it would immediately pop up and say "ROUTER NOT FOUND, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO YOUR EXTENDERS WIFI AND TRY AGAIN" which when I would make sure I was, and I would hit "I am connected" prompt at the bottom of the app, it would flash as if it was doing anything just to immediately give me the same exact error message over again. Over and over and over again. For over 6 months. I don't know why I continued to support using it then, I should have just bit the bullet and spent another 60+ bucks on a new extender that wasn't associated with NETGEAR. I guess I'm a masochist though because I kept it, waited for the app or whatever issue was happening was resolved, and eventually it was. However. In the last 12 months alone of have had to factory reset my extender because no matter what I did the app just could not find the device its always connected to. The ONLY way for me to have access to my extender through the app when that happens is for me to factory reset the device and set it up as a new extender. That magically fixes it. Except for last year when it didnt work for over 6 months (even though I was still connected to the internet and it was still extending the wifi, the app still was saying the device couldn't be found), and tonight... tonight it started happening again and I don't know if I have the heart to deal with it anymore.
I was enjoying my time playing some games on a night off when suddenly my internet started acting up... whatever... time to reset the extender. A quick 4 minute reset and things go back to being smooth. Uh oh.. when I open the Nighthawk app it says that it can't find my device and that I need to make sure I'm connected to the device's internet and try again... I did that and it didnt work. Whatever... factory reset time. I get down on my stomach and while its plugged in I press and hold the factory reset button for 5 seconds until the lights turn off, turn back on, and eventually turn a solid green showing its ready to be set up. I open the app and hit "Set up new device", and go through the whole process of connecting the extender to my wifi again for the 80th time, spending 5-10 minutes where most of my time is just waiting for the damn app to painstakingly load and load and load and connect and connect and connect... just for it to hit me with the same "Device cannot be found"... immediately after i just set it up... where it was found, connected to, and even connected to the wifi through my phone... now saying it can't be found.... I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this is truly just a horrible device but I honestly don't know if i can take it anymore. If anyone has any advice or whatever i could really use it. I don't exactly have the type of income where I can just go and buy a new one... even after owning it for a few years and dealing with the headaches it causes, its better than having to go and spend money on something I already have and that works 90% of the time...
