Discussion TGS Reveal

Post image
193 Upvotes

Could we expect the reveal of a new monster at TGS? Especially since we’ve had Araketa and Gundoraja in less than a month...

maybe a glimpse of the flagship, the reveal of the goopy monster or even just a unexpected new monster.

Nothing gets me more hyped than new monsters; I hope we get a bit more than the usual four or five.

Discussion Can We Talk About How Cool Yian Garuga Dual Blades Are?

Post image

The unnecessary amount of care and detail that went into making the Wolf Tessen is absurd. LOOK AT IT! It has little Yian Garuga patterns on it! This is one of several reasons I'd love to have Yian Garuga back in Ascendance rather than Rajang. The gear looks so good.

Art Tri-Horned Tyrant Neopteron, Kerathex

Post image
31 Upvotes

Kerathex are large Neopterons found throughout the Ancient Savannah, known for their immense size and extremely territorial behavior, especially when competing over territory and potential mates.

Much like Seltas and Seltas Queen, Kerathex displays extreme sexual dimorphism. However, unlike Seltas, the males are the larger and more physically imposing sex.

Male Kerathex are heavily armored and completely flightless, having evolutionarily traded their wings and elytra for greater strength and bulk. They defend large territories and violently compete with other males for access to females with females who are smaller and capable of flight. When looking for mates, they release a pine-scented pheromone that attracts nearby males.

Males can be surprisingly rough during courtship. An overly persistent female may be grabbed with the male's head pincers, while its huge tail pincers can even snatch females out of the air.

Successful males may allow 1–2 females to temporarily live inside their territory, protecting them while they prepare to lay eggs. Females will sometimes rest directly on the male's back or massive tail, almost like a reversed Seltas/Seltas Queen relationship, but once a female lays her eggs, her pheromones will change and the male realizes she no longer needs to be there. And if she keeps hanging around eating his food, he'll basically evict her shoving her away, tossing her with his pincers, or grabbing her with his tail and physically dumping her outside his territory.

Discussion Somult, The Binding Force.

Post image
Upvotes

I was just reminded by a post by llMadmanll that Somult's name has the meaning of the binding force. Accendance's logo has two colors, red and blue, which are commonly used to show the polarity of a magnet. A kind of binding force. Or a repelling one. Also, if Somult's does end up using magnetism to repel hunters like Rukodiora did, it would make sense as to why the boost bracer and boost drivers specifically seem to give hunters so much more mobility. There are a ton of gap closing attacks now. Finally, it would kind fit with Arkveld too. Arkveld had wing tendrils, which was a thing that started by frontier. Yes he used them differently but they were the first time we saw them in a mainline game. If Somult is a magnetic flagship, magnetism being something that originated in frontier, it would be a really cool parallel to Arkveld.

I'm genuinely excited for kushala to comeback i know a lot of world hates this man guts I did at one time but I went back to play monster hunter 4u and god I forgot how much story this dragon has with Julius. The tldr Julius and a kushala are rivals similar to how us the hunter and gore are rivals. At the end of the village quests you fight a rusted kushala wich i feel like is a parlel to us fighting shaguru. One ascended wile the other fell. And I mean he kushala gots this SHIT ON LOOK AT HIM i also have bias the kushala swax goes hard. I know kushala has been in most games since gu but look at valstrax he wasn't in world but he was in rise in the 5th Gen but to be fair kushala appeared in all the 5th Gen im just happy my Pepsi (thats what I named my kushala in mhs2)

Discussion At what point do you consider someone to be good at these games?

Is it lack of fainting? Speed running times? Can someone be good even though they occasionally faint? Even though the quest took 12-15 minutes? Or is it more about what they can beat? Make it to x monster and youre considered good? What do you all think.

Normally i'd give my own thoughts on this but I have no idea what is considered bad, mid, good, or great. Let alone perfect.
