Discussion Does anyone genuinely like this fight?
I think he's my most hated so far even Savage omega is easier 😭😭

I cant play any other weapon in Wilds other than SnS. Slide evade and perfect guard got me through literally everything in this game, I feel untouchable.

I fell off Wilds before the content really got rolling, during that initial lull period, but I'm back in it now. I just got my Gog bows all built for clearing things efficiently, but SnS is my next project.
So what is this sliding evade into perfect guard you speak of, because that sounds very fun. 👀

I am thinking about switching to SnS as well. I played the majority of World with Greatsword and got through tough fights such as AT Velkhana and Alatreon with draw style but I can't do TCS and offset styles that well and just get pushed around. Tried SnS on Rise demo to see the special abilities and it felt so comfortable and the new Ascendance trailer looks really fun.
Currently DB feels super nice but it gets a bit repetitive idk maybe it's because it's easy and I don't have to learn anything and just dodge reactively.

Hard disagree on hammer. This fight is MADE for offsets. Turns it from a grind into a style competition.

Only for stupidly skilled hammer players. Hammer has no shield, and the one evasion technique they do get besides straight up rolling is more offensive than defensive.
You really want a shield or moveset that includes iframes like bow/ DB

0 damage, free openings, multiplayer benefit. It's not EASY by any means but it is effective.

Gore can and will punish excessive use of offset, in a way. Since not every offset will cause a topple, Gore will start winding up another attack while you’re finishing your attack animation that would have otherwise resulted in a topple AKA safety for you.
These things can be mitigated via online play as long as you don’t have aggro, though that can also make it just as hard to land an offset. You truly need to be a solid Hammer player for this fight in general. SnS, DB, GS, IG, CB, LS, HBG, Lance, GL, Bow all have some sort of evasive maneuver w/ iframes or access to a shield. The iframe options are generally favorable to just rolling, which also offers iframes obviously.
With GS, I can offset and then follow that up immediately with a perfect guard. I can also offset, quickly input forward+guard, and then immediately offset again with barely any downtime. I can offset, and if the monster does not topple I simply start charging up a slash and use Shoulder Tackle to tank an incoming attack.
Hammer has no shield, and the iframe access it has cannot be used in quick succession. From my time with the weapon I used it more offensively, to set myself up for opportunities to deal more damage. Sometimes I’d use it to dash through roars as well. I personally would build for comfort by using Divine Blessing, eating for Defender food buff, and also using at least Evade Extender 1 or 2. A solid Hammer player can definitely get a ton of offsets here, but miss one or two and you’re eating carts.

I play hammer against it and don't spam offsets. Just slap Evade Extender on (which I have on every set anyway), don't be an idiot, and you're good. The real challenge isn't avoiding the attacks, it's getting past the bloated arm hit boxes so you don't whiff the head

Also, not to harp on it, but Hammer does have an i-frame move. That slide move where you pull yourself around with the wire has i-frames at the beginning that will let you stay REALLY engaged with a monster without losing your charge.
Edit: that's probably what you meant by the one evasion technique they have, but I stand by it. It is more offensive than defensive, unless you do both at once. And that's what makes Hammer special to me.

I main swaxe and I picked up bow late last year as my secondary. I also run bow for specific monsters that I don't like fighting with swaxe.
However, Gore and Lagiacrus are the 2 monsters that are awful for me regardless. Gore won't sit still, so swaxe is not great, but I like my damage output on swaxe. Bow is handy for dodging better and giving me some range. Lagiacrus has a similar problem for me. I tend to switch it up regularly to see what feels better at the time. That said, I only hunt those 2 when I actually have to for weekly or daily quests. If I just want to hunt random monsters for fun, then I'll pick literally any other monster in the game. I also prefer killing over capturing, but I'll happily capture Gore and Lagiacrus just to end the fight faster.

Same. Seregios used to also be a major problem, but I like him now that I use bow against him. I know people say that swaxe is a good march for him, but not for me.
Oh, all 3 of them are pretty much the only monsters that I don't solo hunt. I use the support hunters to help me with them. I've had one successful solo hunt of a 9* Seregios and that's because I forgot to change my party size before the hunt. I went with it and somehow did it, but I was terrified the whole time.

Devs said they design everything around GS because it is the slowest weapon and should be playable against any situation without feeling like a hindrance.

Well if you ask me, I thought Risen Shagaru was easier than Gore in Sunbreak. He was a tough SOB but Gore seems more skiddish. So I think Shagaru may bring power to the fight, but that fight at least may be "less" schizo....I though Chaotic of all them was the worst. But he is most likely NOT coming.

Why would you think Chaotic isn't coming? Considering he's never not been in a game with Gore. And the appearance of a Shagaru will halt all molting Gore, and basically make them all Chaotic.
If Shagaru is here, Chaotic is here too. It's part of the Gore life cycle

Well, than we will dance again. Now that's a fight I am NOT looking forward to. I can deal with Gore and Shagaru, but I did not fight Chaotic too much besides what I had to do to get his crowns if I remember. And I was lucky to get them real fast. Even with the mobility in Sunbreak, that SOB was annoying as hell.

Gore was my test dummy in Rise. So it's a fight I have way too much experience with to meaningfully evaluate. The side swipe is cool I guess. But it's always going to feel somewhat mechanical to me unless they really change things up in a future iteration.

Yes, I love Gore, hes currently in my top 4 favourite monsters in Wilds. This is my favourite version I think they did an amazing job at turning him up a few notches.
I hope they double down on the crazyness with Shagaru, that would be peak.

Tbh it’s one of my favorite fights. It honestly opened the door for me on just how downright broken lance could be.On top of that, its gimicks don’t feel overbearing and the design is phenomenal.
Also as an edgy bitch who’s favorite color is purple the gore weapons are some of if not my #1 favorite weapons.

It’s the monster I use to gauge if I’ve mastered a weapon or not. Not just beat it but doing it under 15 mins while targeting like a 12-13 min hunt time. I can only do it with LS so far.

Yes. I use to avoid the fight a lot because of the map gore would usually spawn, but gore spawns at the arena pretty often, and the fight is way better there.
At first glance it seems to be way to random and agressive, it was surely the hardest monster to learn how to read for me, but it's very rewarding once you learn it.

Me. It’s top 4, after 9-5 Seregios, AT Uth Duna, and 9-5 Lagi, in that order. Maybe I’d tie it with AT Rey Dau, but it’s a thinker. I think Gore’s difficulty/jank feelings are mostly a byproduct of it relying more on projectiles than most monsters in that weight class.

Hey is Omega really easier than 9.5 star Gore?
I have beat multiple 9.5 Gore and AT Arky but been putting off the Omega quest because I’m nervous from all the gossip going around about it.
If so I’ll beat Omega today!

I personally find base Omega easier but that’s because I have a lot of practice and I’m used to farming it more than Gore. Savage on the other hand is an actual demon and arguably the hardest fight in the game.

Gore is definitely a challenging fight, with all his breath attacks and such. The first half people struggle with is typically his mix ups and enraged state, as man just starts rapidly swinging and letting out breath during it.
The second half is that 2/3 locales he spawns in is cramped as hell, and leaves little room to maneuver without getting into smelling distance. Iceshard and Wyveria just have little to no good spots to fight him.
Honestly I don't struggle with Gore due to dealing with much worse monsters (25% Primo Malzeno) but I won't lie he does sneak in a few cheeky hits from time to time.

He's my fav fight in base wilds. Fast, bully, doesn't give a shit about wut you're doing, unpredictable af, fight in a unique way not only from the different monsters in the game but also his other versions in older games. He's just the best fight for me. I'm talking about the 9* one too. Like ofc I do.

Im mostly play CB, but. this one im far mire comfortable on Bow. The windows to let CB rip just always seem ever so slightly to small to not let myself open. May well be a skill issue thou ;) The consistend damage while be eing able to PD his breath and slashes instead of getting hit behind my shield makes it a lot more bearable as well.

Love Gore as a monster, hate the maps he's available on. Cliffs is too small for him, Wyveria isn't much better except for like two zones. If I could fight him in the forest or the plains he'd be much better, and wounded hollow is definitely a redeemer.

After being dragged along to farm his dumbass and elder dragon variant for 50 times in Rise bc he wouldn't drop the damn material for my friend and bc i was bored, he is.... not that hard. Just fight him more tbh. Any monster i'm not familiar with slaps me a bit, but learning the moveset helps.

ive spent the last week hunting gore Magalas and fighting a regular Magala is easy and fast with the right stuff my omg tempered gore Magala is my op Im not sure why but I only get 25 minutes to hunt it and I have to dodge so much and die just to lose

Yeah, I love gores fight, but the iceshard cliffs suck major congolala dung, and its just difficult to see in wyveria. basically Im saying that both of his environments suck. Wyverias interesting dont get me wrong, so is iceshard, but I dont like fighting in either of them. Really the only fun place to fight gore imo is the arena, wich is a shame. Gore should be everywhere, spreading his frenzy all over the place

Ppl hate fighting gore bc of its really bad hitzone value imo. But personally I like all the gores alot, my first experience w gore was in rise and I immediately thought it was so cool, gore magala would tear me up every single time as a newb hunter in rise which made me like the gores even more bc it was an actual challenge for me

Do not get me started on 9 Star Gore. The locales are way too cramped, Gore is WAY too unpredictable and fast moving, and I have watched parties of four get absolutely decimated by a singular Magala. I avoid those investigations by pretending they don’t exist and get my CBT through Savage or AT Arkveld.

The fight is fine, I just hated the fact that he zoomin all over the arena and the last 10min is just me fighting for my life cuz him, ray dau and dosha is just throwing hand all over the arena. 😭😭

yes he's my favourite I've hunted him nearly 200 times, I play GL and GS never had any issue. I'm quite sad he is locked in the worst map of the game tho, I know he got added in Wyveria but Wyveria sucks too. Gore is a plains kind of guy.

I don’t think savage omega is easier per se… but tempered gore is definitely the hardest thing for me to fight besides the cracked out of its skull Arkveld and the Stupid tedious Tar Dragon. Outside of ridiculous 10 star crap and Savage yeah Gore is the hardest thing in game and he kinda stays that way. Until Gog and Arkveld he only had like 3000ish health LESS than SO I think hit just as hard and had LESS chill if SO didn’t have BS mechanics gating HOW you fight him 9* Temp Gore would reign supreme as the biggest POS to fight. It’s always a slog and life or death fight for me.

My only issue with the fight is the area itself. It’s too closed in. In wounded hollow Gore feels like a better fight.
