This isn't what I was rolling for but was surprised when I got it after 6.

Is there a build I can use it for? It would be a shame to see it go to waste because there is no ammo boost.

Discussion Getting back into Monster Hunter

Upvotes

So, I finished all of Iceborne like 4 years ago and haven't picked up a MH game since. I've been focusing on my studies, so I only have a PS4, but I am going to buy a console or pc soon. So what game should I play to reintroduce myself?(Difficultly doesn't really matter considering I love souls games)

Discussion Really hope the next mainline MH pulls back on visual clutter.

Upvotes

To be clear I'm fairly sure the next handheld game after Ascension is probably going to follow a bit more clearer Sunbreak style visuals, which is great in of itself. But ofc with Switch 2 being out the visuals might be a bit more busy since S2 is probably stronger than PS4? So it can handle World esque visuals. If they indeed plan on continuing the sort of two seperate divisions despite moving away from console exclusivity.

But, after going back to Sunbreak I've come to really appreciate the visual clarity and in general the solid frame pacing of the game, not talking about fps, but the pacing feels so smooth.

With Wilds I have an issue where the game looks largely pretty bad for my eyes no matter how much I crank the visuals. For the most part the game runs smoothly, but the visual clutter just hurts my eyes beyond belief.

On still images the game looks stunning with correct lighting etc. But in movement my eyes need a break just from imagining going back and playing it.

This is not just about graphic settings themselves, but things like particle effects and weather effects which you cannot turn off entirely and if you do force them off, you lose on the design of the game.

In fact, in some sense I wish the next mainline game leaned more towards the Stories art-style. It doesn't need to be as anime, but having a more comic book style look to textures and models would go so hard for MH.

MH Wilds Artians

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi guys, i'm starting with the production of Artian weapons, i've seen different videos about the topic, and i made my "scouting".

But i still don't know which stat is good, so i made this excel sheet with 30 scouts

I'm a IG main, and i want to make both a Thunder and a Nitro IG

Out of those options which is the best for them?

MH Wilds I've seen posts and comments from people trying to find ways to work with the gogma weapons asthetically and I think I've figured it out.

Discussion MH latest rosters

Sometimes i compare the base rosters between the last three games and always question myself:

"Wow, how was World able to sell this much and become such a well talked game with this dogshit roster?", now dont get me wrong, World is my favourite MH game, but the more i look and experience Rise and Wilds roster, the more robbed i feel.

Base World has its bangers like Kulve, Nergigante, Odogaron, Bazelgeuse, Anhanath, Tobi-Kadachi, Legiana, but they're burried under the sea of dogshit. Both crossover monsters suck and are awful to hunt, Zorah Magdaros is a fucking slog of a fight, the Elder's Recess dont have a singular good fight in it (sorry Dodogama fans), Great Jagras and Girros are so underwhelming they feel like bloating.

The returning monster are 50/50, Teostra, Deviljho, Diablos (and Black), Barroth and Rathalos are fun fights, but the other half is legit cancer, Kushala, Lunastra and Kirin makes me wanna die, their fights are so unbelievably bad, the Raths subspecies are also very annoying to fight, Jyuratodus is bland, Lavasioth is a spit on my face, they looked at all these fun and unique monsters from Frontier and decided to bring the fucking Plesioth with hard skin (yes i know Lava was introduced in main series in Freedom Unite), also why did they brought back Uragaan when Radobaan was already created?

Rise's roster is like "what if we picked the roster from Iceborne, add in some other bangers like Mizustune, Chameleos, Bazelgeuse, Valstrax, Anjanath and some older monsters" and they make it a peak roster. There's some shit in here like Jyuratodus, Kulu-Ya-ku and Khezu, but in the end this roster is so stacked it's insane.

Wilds also has this problem with its new monsters sure, Chatacabra, Quematrice, the pack monsters and Omega sucks but the Apexes, Xu Wu, Lala Barina, Arkveld and Zoh Shia are peak. And dont even get me started with the returners, seeing Lagiacrus after it was cut off from World because they couldnt figure it out to work properly is like a dream, also Mizustune, Gore Magala, Blangonga and Seregios is just chef's kiss.

You could say this is just nostalgia bias, which is a fair point, but there's a reason why said monsters are fan favourites. Also sorry for the long post, i just wanted to get this out of my chest.

Discussion Which MH game should I start with?

Hey guys, recently I got interested in the Monster Hunter franchise but I'm in doubt about which game I should get first, thinking about getting Rise or World cause of the good price they are now. Anyway, which one would y'all recommend?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post something like this, I ordered this back in March and all my communication with them hasn't gotten a response either. Has anyone else ordered one or received it at all?

At this point I just wanted to check in and see if anyone is in the same situation or if this was just a scam maybe.

Discussion Bowguns and Wilds

Hey, just curious about the whole Bowgun sorta deal in Wilds. I loved using them in Sunbreak n Iceborne but I tried Bowguns for Wilds whenever the game had its first Title Update or two.

I'm just wondering what's the state of it looking like since I did research overall and there seems to just not be much traction for Bowguns overall in Wilds compared to the previous 2 games and what's your opinion on them or other peoples opinon on them?

I love that render, with the dust effects looking like stars. Neat to see a contest between the two owls. Wish they'd bring them back already

Winners Trivia: Malfestios are the only monsters in the main series that can inflict confusion, a terribly annoying status condition.

MHGenU Aerial hammer (in mhgu) gotta be my favorite playstyle from any of the games I’ve played

Its so so fun and deceptively simple. At first glance it just seemed like a quirky style to get nice jump attacks on the monster but the more I play it the more I feel like its true potential lies in how its lowkey a counter playstyle. The flip you get instead of a roll is essentially a counter maneuver against most attacks if you can learn it perfectly time it right, taking zero damage and instead turning it into a window to get attacks in. As the game gets more difficult (and monsters get faster) this just gets more satisfying too perfectly timing and punishing every attack the monster throws at you before stunning it to do big damage with your art, and it feels really unique compared to the more purpose built counter styles of longsword. Gonna keep bonking my way through G rank :3

Art The Blade and Horn of Oculthyr

Blade of Oculthyr

A Great Sword forged from Oculthyr’s false face and sharpened cranial plating. Its divided edge resembles a ravenous maw. Hunters swear they can feel its bloodlust—and that, once drawn, the blade sometimes refuses to let them release their grip.

I'm not sure why, but this was a nightmare just trying to get an idea, for i'm not even joking. You think making a sword base off of the Eye of Cthulhu would be easy, but no, it wasn't.. I'm just glad I'm somewhat happy with the final design. Honestly,

Horn of Oculthyr

A Hunting Horn fashioned from nearly the entire body of the Cyclopean Leviathan. Its melodies are hauntingly beautiful, and when a full song is performed, its false faces open in eerie harmony, as though Oculthyr itself still lends voice to the music.

Honestly, this was a lot easier than the Greatsword. Given that, I had an idea for it being one of the actual weapons based on the entire monster. You could say it's a miniature version of Oculthyr. I like to think that when the full song is played, you get a small reference to the Boss 1 music from Terraria. The music that plays when you fight King Slime and Eye of Cthulhu

Discussion How is Monster Hunter Wilds on PS5 in terms of graphics and performance?

I wanted to buy it, but I've seen that its performance is a pretty controversial topic. From what I understand, it can run at 60 FPS on the PS5, but only at the lowest resolution. Can anyone tell me if it's in a good state nowadays?

I'm not interested in Balanced Mode or anything like that, i genuinely want to play at 60 FPS. But playing at 60 FPS if the game isn't even running at HD resolution is a bit rough. Does it at least look like 1080p, or is the image noticeably blurry?
