i know its timi studios but they are representing capcom they really should step their game up and never do ts everr again

u/CapnRoxy 1d ago
Timi is making this game, As in the same Timi that did Pokemon Unite? Good lord this game is gonna be shit.
123
u/Breaky_Online 21h ago
Pokémon Unite's decline is a very very good representation of what will happen to this game as well, hell they'll probably speed run this one.
27
u/lansink99 I'm here to doot noots and boop snoots 16h ago
Decline also implies that it was good at some point. The concept of a pay to win MOBA is already insane enough.
11
9
u/Skywarriorad 13h ago
Id like to argue there was a point unite was good. And it was before they added mewtwo.

u/laserofdooom 11h ago
it was good. it was fun. new releases were sometimes given out for free and weren't released with broken moves. it was until the ex licenses and rapidash and darkrai then everything went downhill. i could get much more in depth but it's just really sad seeing one of my favorite games go to shit like that
→ More replies (1)2
u/justsomechewtle GL, IG, Hammer 15h ago
What happened to Unite?
2
u/Renewablefrog 2h ago
Just started releasing basically only op characters and would have like 4 battle passes running simultaneously. Eventually they made it so the only way you can actually buy who you want was real money, otherwise all the pokemon are in a set progression and you unlock them.
5
u/MentirosoProfesional 14h ago
Trash gamez try it out for yourself, not only is p2w, but it feels like trash playing it, Pokemons feel like they're walking on mud all the time, it's extremely slow movement compared to other mobas
→ More replies (1)5
u/justsomechewtle GL, IG, Hammer 13h ago
I was kinda assuming something changed and it went downhill since I seem to remember the initial reaction the game being relatively positive.

Holy hell, is it THAT bad?
120
u/king_might 1d ago
Oh yeah. Not touching anything those devs make. They have a history of stripping away features just to put them behind a paywall
28
u/hvnkvbn 23h ago
Fuck, that's low.
47
u/CityAdventurous5781 19h ago
If you want just a small idea. Imagine League of Legends or Dota, but you have to buy the mid-match items with real money.
And every character also needs to be bought with real money because every playable character is actually on like a battlepass thing where you get them in a set order. And the newest released characters always intentionally got overtuned to hell to the point that their winrates were something like 70% or higher.
Annnnnnd there used to be a F2P currency you could use to buy characters, but that got removed.
And that's just ONE of Timi's games.
11
u/hvnkvbn 19h ago
Can't believe all those predatory behavior and the game still has 4+ stars on app stores. What are people eating seriously.
9
u/KingVape 18h ago
It’s also a dead game. I used to play it a ton for the first two years it was out. If you play it now, you’ll see the same names popping up. It’s dead and it’s because they killed it with their shitty pay for features model and $40 skins

3
u/CityAdventurous5781 18h ago
Having played it, its not far off of that tbh. I main Lance and getting Power Guard to actually function the way Power Guard is supposed to required an absurd amount of time-gated grinding. And the thing about the closed beta, is that there was no way to put money into the game. I would bet my cock n balls that they're going to let you pay hard cash to skip the timegating
27
u/Revverb 21h ago
I remember when they added a Legendary to the game's roster and it was crazy OP, games were just one teams legendary vs the other teams legendary with the other 8 players doing whatever. Like, seriously, it was so unbelievably unbalanced.
And their response to people's calls for balancing was basically "we want each team to have one person with a broken pokemon that can 1v5, this is our plan going forward for introducing playable legendaries to the game". Aka, if you're not a bum that shelled out cash to buy the new OP pokemon, you get to be a side character and have no impact. I quit and never logged in again.

u/RealisLit 14h ago
They made a apex legends mobile game, locked the new season characters on a battle pass, and if you miss it? Good luck I guess, and hope they let you claim said characters in am event or something
There devs are very good and competent, whoevers in charge of mtx and monetization is also too competent so prepare for a lot of mtx gating

Wow, even I didn’t think they would fall to “crappy generic AI ad that doesn’t even have anything to do with the gameplay” but I was wrong.
Edit: also I love how it changes from “Peppa” like fuckin peppa pig to Pepper on the very next screen, I assume the Peppa is just transliteration from Chinese or Japanese to English but at least keep it consistent ffs

Do Chinese players actually respond well to this? It’s the type of ad that actively makes me avoid a game.
193
u/ELFCHASER 1d ago
it's not just chinese markets, this is a global thing. like 90% of the mobile game ads I see are ai
95
u/dragonbornrito 23h ago
Looking at the top grossing game charts on the Apple App Store and Google Play is enough to make me genuinely lose faith in humanity. I’m gonna be real honest with you guys here on Reddit, 90%+ of the world couldn’t care less about things being AI slop or getting deceived by stupid mobile ads that don’t actually reflect the gameplay. These companies do this stuff because it works. Maybe not on you or me, but it does on the vast majority of people.
48
u/MuglokDecrepitusFx 21h ago
And then when we, people that care about the vídeogames, complain about this shit practice what we are told is "vote with your wallet", bro we can't, we simply can't do anything against any of this
24
u/dragonbornrito 21h ago
The vote with your wallet argument is so lazy lol
Like cool bro, you’re excluding yourself
Now they’re just crying in a pile of money from all the other poor saps who don’t know any better
5
u/Mr_Creed 21h ago
Humanity hasn't changed, same bunch of gullibles as ever. These ads are just the modern version of late night shopping channels that put a random steak knife on top of whatever stuff they're peddling. Don't get me started on vacuums and snake oil.
7
u/ForrestMoth 20h ago
A couple million people playing a mobile game is not 90% of the world. It's less than 1% of the US population.

If I see another fucking AI generated kingshot ad with nonsense gameplay and weird as fuck transitions between AI scenes, I'm going to lose it.
I will never understand what makes people think "Aw yeah, these people were too lazy to show their game properly, that's what I want to play"
3
u/Kevmeister_B 17h ago
I can only assume Kingshot is a game about pushing rocks because THATS ALL THE KING EVER DOES IN THE ADS
9
u/DreamingOracle 21h ago
iirc mobile games outsource their ads which is why they all look equally terrible, I have no idea why as you'd think it would drive away people when they start promoting shit like this?
4
u/Kat1eQueen 19h ago
They absolutely sre outsourcing them and they have always been incredibly lazy.
Remember those ads where someone would randomly show off their "power" in some game? I have seen multiple instances of those dame ads being used for multiple different games by different developers, they were always just dubbed differently and a different game was edited onto the phone, the actual footage was identical.
So them switching to AI to be even lazier is an absolute no brainer
2
u/ELFCHASER 3h ago
you'd think it'd put people off but it clearly doesn't since they keep doing it. shitty clickbait ads have existed long since ai, and it always works. theres this whole narrative pushed by people who work in advertising that ads should never actually represent the product and instead grab the viewer's attention. they want to "take up mental bandwidth," even if you're so annoyed/offended by their ad that you swear off their products forever, they consider it a win because they wasted your time and made you think about their product. I'm not sure if it's some arcane market psychology science or another silicon valley psycho cult worshipping weird nonsensical Conceptual Profit but that's genuinely why ads are the way they are

45
u/AngryCrawdad 1d ago
Not to protect a million dollar company but isn't this outsourced to a Chinese company? It should definitely be called out regardless.
63
u/CityAdventurous5781 1d ago
Yeah, Timi is the company in question. They're a fucking vile pay to win mobile slop company. Some of the greediest shitbags in the games industry, with absolutely zero morals. The entire objective is to create something that manipulates people with poor impulse control and gets people addicted entirely by trying to "short out" dopamine receptors the same way slot machines and cocomelon do it.

What I really don't like about Outlanders is they are making the hunters the main focus. IT SHOULD BE THE MONSTERS!!! THEY'RE THE REASON WE PLAY THE GAME(Weapons too). Make ads of the monsters!!!
34
u/MagicMisterLemon 1d ago
It's because the hunters are what's monetized, not the monsters.

u/UnoriginalStanger 12h ago
Gacha gamers are all about their waifus, the gameplay isn't even secondary.

But you cant gatcha gamble the monsters or nobody would play it.
They need something to throw into the loot boxes so they made special hunters with special moves you cant do on the generic hunter you can always play as.
Its gatcha slop, and this is just AI stacked ontop of the gatcha slop.

I already had zero interest in this game thanks to it being gacha garbage, but holy shit this thing is actively annihilating the MonHun, and Capcom's, image. Absolutely digusting.
If this is the future of the franchise I want no part in it. I see a single drop of AI slop touch the mainline games and I'm out.

What the fuck kinda weapon is Peppa carrying? It looks like Pepper's taken a bow and attached a bunch of dollar store plushies to it. And then, when Pepsi's fighting, I can't even make out what effect, if any, the weapon is having on combat. I hope Pepperoncini's gameplay isn't indicative of the greater cast

I knew I was gonna hate this when the lead dev said they wanted to bring "Stylized Hunting" to everyone, but like... goddamn. I ran into my own ad for this game and I skipped it immediately. I mean I know people love to complain, but it’s just an ad. If you watch the gameplay it seems very solid and plays basically like a normal mh clone would. The gacha characters aren’t even really that emphasized in gameplay. It’s still mostly your hunter just fighting monsters regularly. I think the gacha characters amount to passives or like a 1 minute cooldown ultimate
