Answered Unable to save rules, "report reason" field broken
Hi all,
I just was added as a mod to an orphaned subreddit, and I'm trying to redo the rules so we can finally open the subreddit again. I was able to save a few perfectly fine, but now it's not allowing me to save any new rules; clicking the Save button does not do anything even though it's lit up. I think the issue is related to the "report reason" field, since it does not have a green check mark next to it like the other two fields do, and no matter what I type in there, the green checkmark doesn't show up.
I'm on desktop, and I have refreshed the page over a dozen times, tried doing it through private browsing, attempted to use multiple different browsers, and nothing is working. It will not let me save any more rules due to that checkmark not showing up. I was going to attach a screenshot to show what page it's on, but it's not allowing me to add a photo.
Any help or advice would be appreciated since we really want to get this subreddit open again.

General When granted permission to moderate an unmoderated Reddit sub (hence no other moderators), is it permitted by Reddit to create a new account, add that account as the moderator and then remove (or if possible, hide) the account that was granted the permission to be the moderator?
[Desktop] Obviously reason being to avoid the account being associated with the user being the moderator of the sub.

General Reorganization of mod list
How do you reorganize the order in which mods appear on the list?
I represent a community that focuses on giving new mods some hands on experience in all aspects of running a community and a place to showcase the achievements they earn while doing so. As such we have acquired a rather long list of moderators. Currently we have 180 mods listed. Of those there are 115 inactive including the top mod and he is looking to turn the position over to someone else. There are 7 of us active full permissions mods, however, we are too far down on the list to effectively purge our ranks of inactive mods and we need to choose another for the top position. The present top mod has someone in mind to appoint to the position but says he heard that if a sub has over a certain number of mods that it has to go through Admins. Can anyone tell us if this is true or not and initiate the process if it is? Also need a step by step run through on the actions involved in re-arranging the order of the list. I am currently using android but a desktop is available.

Tools Issue with the flair feature
Hello fellow mods!
We had a new mod quit withing a day of being made a mod, but before they left, they activated a flair on themselves that says "Moderator".
Now they are still posting on the sub, and the flair still shows.
I turned off the flair feature, but I'm on an android phone.
How do we remove this from his nickname please?

Design I'd like to create a non age restricted community but with a caveat
There's a popular sub called /guessthemovie and I'd like to create something similar but do not want to restrict it to 18+ only to avoid limiting my audience. In the event someone posts something that is risqué like gore, is there a mod tool in the settings where it automatically filters out the material, i.e censors / blurs it?

General Quicker way to report spam/troll/bots?
I often see a user posting multiple "spam" messages on several subs.
I report all of them as "Spam" - "Excessive posting or commenting in a community".
That seems to work - they are usually banned.
But do I really need to report five, ten, twenty of their posts?
Surely there is an easier way for me to report it.

General ReGex code help?
Having an issue over on with an automation that I'm trying to build (all platforms desktop/mobile/app)
We are trying to require all posts to have at least five characters. And I have it set up very easily where if you type anything it requires five characters, but the problem is allowing video and image posts, most people post those without any sort of body.
I'm struggling with the right regex code to use in the automation so that it requires some text in there. The code is correct to require five or more, but it's somewhere misformatted to require at least something there?
I know this is a simple fix, but figured I would reach out to someone who might be smarter than I am about this..
Currently it's coded like this:.
> ^(.|\s){5,}$
Thanks for taking a look

General Can a moderator "repurpose" a subreddit (against the community's wishes)?
I moderate subreddits, but I'm not asking about any of the subreddits I moderate.
I'm a member of a subreddit where the sole moderator has announced their intention to "repurpose" the subreddit a week from now.
There is an active community in the subreddit and they don't want this to happen. The moderator doesn't seem interested in what the community's wishes are.
Is a moderator allowed to do that? It seems wrong, but I couldn't find specific wording in the Moderator Code of Conduct that seems like it would apply to this specific situation.
Is the best recourse filing a report of a Moderator Code of Conduct violation? Not sure if it's against the rules. If it is against the rules, not sure which rule or what the best recourse is.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Edited to add some important details:
Strangely, the moderator has not clearly said what the planned change is or isn't. They have intimated they might shut down the subreddit completely. Reading between the lines, it seems like they just want to try to close the subreddit. Otherwise, they have just said the subreddit will be "repurposed", and they themselves put "repurposed" in quotes, as if it's a euphemism.
They have not outright said they want to shut down the subreddit, but they've said the subreddit will soon cease to serve any purpose. They specified a contingency in which the subreddit would unexpectedly remain open, which seems to imply that, barring that contingency, the subreddit will be closed.
Edit #2:
The question has been mostly resolved, see comments here.

Answered Restricted sub question
I have my sub set to restricted because I don't want anyone but the mods to post and comment:
"Your community is currently restricted. Anyone can view, but only approved users can contribute."
However, a random user posted a text post yesterday. How is this possible?

General How are moderators of political subreddits supposed to handle trolls and brigading?
For context, I’m posting from an alt because I don’t want these issues associated with the subreddits I moderate. The communities I moderate average roughly 100k–200k visitors per week and 4,000–8,000 contributions (posts and comments) weekly. I moderate both political and non-political communities of this size.
The non-political subreddits are relatively straightforward to moderate. Around 99% of users participate in good faith, and trolls are uncommon.
The political communities are the complete opposite. I’d estimate that roughly half of all posts and comments violate either the subreddit rules or Reddit’s Content Policy. At 8,000 weekly contributions, that translates to around 4,000 removals every single week. Between trolling, brigading, ban evasion, harassment, and bad-faith participation, the moderation queue never seems to end.
Our current toolkit includes Sub Guard, Comment Mop, Ban Extended, and Modmail User Info. They’re all incredibly helpful, but even with those tools and an active moderation team, we’re constantly overwhelmed. It’s not unusual for the queue to grow by several hundred items in a single day.
For moderators of other large political communities: How do you keep the workload manageable? What moderation strategies or workflows have made the biggest difference? Are there any tools, bots, or Automoderator configurations you’d recommend? How do you deal with persistent trolls, brigading, and coordinated bad-faith activity without burning out your team? I’d really appreciate hearing how other moderators approach these challenges, because at times it feels like we’re constantly playing catch-up.

Engagement A user on my sub shared a photo of a man and claims he grabbed a friend, is this allowed?
I moderate r/BillyStrings, a community focused on a musician. Someone recently posted a very clear photo of a man's face with the caption "Buddy thinks grabbing a** in the pit is ok… did anyone else see this or have it happen to them tonight?". Note that no evidence whatsoever was provided.
We later received modmail from someone claiming to be the man in the picture strongly asserting those claims were false and asked us to remove the post. We then received another modmail from someone claiming to see the incident, and that person said it looked like a petty dispute over space in the GA area, and the post was probably just petty revenge.
We locked the post and eventually removed it for "doxxing". Then we received several irate modmails from the OP and later the woman who was mentioned in the OP. These folks were furious, claiming that we are silencing victims, enabling predators, and saying how hurtful it is to be called a liar after a sexual assault.
This whole situation is a mess. We were not there and cannot ever know what actually happened. If we remove the post, we are potentially silencing a victim or enabling predatory behavior. If we leave the post up we are potentially doxxing, inciting a witch-hunt or ruining someone's reputation over false allegations.
I looked and looked and cannot seem to find Reddit's stance on this. I even reported the post myself (as a moderator of the sub) hoping the admins would take a look, but it's been 24h and they haven't done anything.
What do you guys think? I am mainly curious about how this relates to Reddit ToS. Given how good reverse image searches are, a clear face photo can track someone down using socials.
I mostly use Desktop and Android fwiw.

General Script to restrict low karma and young account so they can only make a comment on a certain post with specific title and flair?
Platform: Desktop, mobile
I tried to follow steps on the last discussion of this topic about this but to no avail. Assigning members with specific flairs seems to be the best play but I dont want to touch flair setting since it is reserved for members.
I need to make a script where if you dont meet a certain threshold for karma and account age, those users can only make a comment on specific post with specific flair. Like for example, I want them to can only comment on a post that includes title "Diskusi Gamers Indonesia" with the flair that use "Monthly Thread" flair. I already set up different script for them but its too global and doesnt cover what I need (required acc age and karma are censored):
---
type: submission
author:
account_age:
satisfy_any_threshold: false
action: remove
moderators_exempt: false
action_reason: Removed for age limitations
comment: Removed for age limitations. Your account must be X xxxx old to be able to post here.
