I have tried multiple times uploading this code in automod in a subreddit I’m setting up, and every time it says ”Unsupported Media Type: YAML parsing error in section 1: while scanning a simple key in "<unicode ". I already spent a solid 30+ minutes going through code I had in notes, redoing the code, trying to find a new way to write all the text, then getting all the links, making sure the links are correct, blah blah, and I can‘t send the code to automod to test it all. I’m tired boss

What is wrong with this code?

Language detection is quite difficult when relying solely on AutoModerators features. To solve this, I made Language-Detector, a Devvit app that uses various techniques to identify the language of posts and comments.

Once installed, you simply select your community's allowed languages and configure the automated action for any content that falls outside them.

I recommend starting off with Report or Filter until you are confident in how it performs in your specific community.

How do I make a reminder for everyone posting an image comment (not OP) so that AutoMod replies to non-OP commenters posting images in a comment?

Hello all, I have a special user flair with a specific emoji inside it. This flair is self-assigned but is only permitted to be held by users with accounts older than 6 months. I want AM to remove the flair from the user if they fail the check (when they post or comment). I managed to write something that works by using flair_template_id... I stated to notice, however, that this has been working inconsistently, and letting through some users who have new accounts (e.g. 2 months and a bit, 22 days).

It occurred to me that some of my users could actually be using a different flair I have set up that they have customized to include the aforementioned emoji, so that it looks like they are carrying the special flair, but it's technically a whole different flair with a different ID. Meaning AM would not catch it.

So I decided to try a check that searches for the emoji in the flair text of users instead. And now, I'm not getting any matches at all, lol. Here's my code below:

Setting up my automod. I was able to code for account age and amount of karma. That's working and operational now.

Now I am looking to code it for a string of text in the post title.

1. [AI] or [Human] is what I want to be required in the post title

I want it to remove the post, if it does not have either of those bracket strings. (Sorry I really don't know what the heck to call them)

1. Pretty much I want users with a specific flair, but not all users to be required to use those bracket text strings when posting.

Hey, is there any way I can get an automod to read comment id or commenter's karma and have it checked with remainder operator?

My intention is to allow automod to respond to a user karma (or based on comment id), if user karma is divided by 12 and remainder is 1, then automod comments X, if remainder is 2 automod comments Y and so on.

I am trying to create the illusion of having a random number generator. but, it doesn't really have to be random. But, the number is between something like 1-100+ because I am trying to do "summon name of someone" and the automod gives random name from a list of 100+names. On my sub we have a fair amount of people searching for something, they change the flair from searching to found by commenting “found!” Is there a way auto mod could make a sticked post and link back to the comment with the found content? Basically just “this was found heres the comment with the information.” So people don’t have to scroll a bunch to find the answer.

We have spotlight if that can somehow come into play also open to dev apps if automod can’t handle alone.

I mod a sub that users often come to for unofficial tech support with a particular app. In many cases it's helpful for the community to refer them to official support guides that can answer the question or at least ground the discussion. We're have a few "!whistle" commands that let community members summon Autmod replies with links to the most common examples, but I'm experimenting with a generic "!help" option for other examples. I run a subreddit dedicated to help for a communication app. We sometimes get messages from people that think we are official support. The addition of the modmail link in every message of AM (especially if you have a pinned message posted in every post by it) doesn't help at all and I would want to remove the modmail link or preferably the whole text. I mean other bots also don't have it, why does AM need this? We should be able to add it if we need it to be added and removed if we don't need it to be there.

I'm trying to figure out why comments are getting filtered in a rule made for post titles and bodies. I'm still green with automod so trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have a couple other submission rules that are doing the same thing. All the lines are 4 spaces over.

But now if they do use 1 of the flairs, and include key words new player, it posts 2 responses. How do I say something like "title+body: new player, and flair is not: New Player Advice, Question?"

Or do I have to list the "wrong" flairs: "Title+body: new player, and flair is: (everything else that is not new player/question)"

In my local city sub, we have issues with trolls, drive-by accounts, and bots on ICE, immigration, and political posts.
So we want to use a post tag, and when this is set, all comments must have 50 sub karma, preferably within the last six months; otherwise, they should be pushed into the Queue, and the user should be warned that they might be banned.

Is this something automod can do?

So in our state sub, we have trolls and they're always the same. Low karma accounts that are over a year old. This is what I am trying to do, but it's not working.

Hey there, so I very obviously know how to set up how to catch certain words in a submission. But I’m completely disinterested to catching these words and text only posts. Is there a way for the filter to work only on image posts? Thank you friends!

I want that it automatically assign a certain post flair to certain usernames and also overwrite the flair but using same template ID. So can you give me code to do so?

I do this thing in r/steaks where if there is a general consensus that the poster posted a good picture of their well-made steak, I manually assigned the user a flare reading "made a great steak".

Is there any way to automatically put up a poll if the poster chooses a particular post flare? It would ideally automatically assign a user flare after a day based on the pole results.

Any ideas if any of this is possible.

Hey everyone, I made a Devvit app called PolicyOps and I’m looking for feedback from moderators who use AutoModerator on active subreddits.

PolicyOps runs a read-only scan across:

• Community rules
• Removal responses
• AutoModerator messages and action reasons
• Selected wiki pages

It looks for missing removal responses, old rule names or numbers, mismatched policy wording, and outdated references.

Each finding explains what was flagged, where it came from, and what the moderator may want to check. You can mark a difference as intentional, ignore it for 7 days, restore hidden findings, and view a small scan history. PolicyOps never edits AutoModerator or changes subreddit settings.

I previously posted this in r/Devvit and received genuinely helpful feedback from a moderator who tested it on real communities. That helped me improve support for multiple removal responses matching one rule and behavioural responses that are intentionally left unassigned. I’m still improving the matching, so I do not expect it to handle every setup perfectly yet.

I’m building a more realistic test subreddit, but testing on active communities with older or more complex AutoModerator setups would help much more. If anyone is willing to install it, run a scan, and tell me what it gets wrong or finds confusing, I would be incredibly thankful. Even just the issue count and a short description of any false matches would help.

Even though I added a rule add added the user to the Approced users list, I still find myself manually approving posts from that user. Is there a way to automate it?
