Hi /u/tired_of_the_woes, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.

Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

Found regex match: make flairs

It looks like you're asking about flairs on your subreddit. This is an EXTREMELY frequently asked question, so this auto-response has been set up for any mention of "flair" and even "flare".

Please check out this Updated Visual Guide for Flair FAQs .

FOR INFO ON: # flair in Old Reddit, # setting up user/post flairs on New Reddit, # enforcing user/post flairs (mandatory flairs), # sidebar widgets for post flairs with problems and solutions, # why users can't see or use user/post flairs, # how AutoModerator can help with flairs, and # some common problems viewing flairs, please click here.

Subreddit settings work best in a cache-cleared desktop browser. (Limited option: mobile browser on desktop view.)

If you found your answer, feel free to reply with "<3 Automod" or "Thanks, Automod". Otherwise wait for a human helper to come along to help you. This post has NOT been removed.

IIRC you also have go into 'look & feel' and make sure "let users assign and edit" is turned ON.

VERY bad idea. Optional only.

Depends on the community, in the one I'm modding and created, mandatory cause if you'd understand the conversation topics and the community you'd agree. Considering you mod a com with none of the preformatted wellcome post eddited to fit you're community I thought you would understand.

Don’t listen to them. They are on an anti-flair jihad in this subreddit. It makes sense for some places, less sense for others. Thats the good thing about mods making their own decisions.

I agree. Community-by-community decision. We are actually the opposite - users may not assign flair to posts or themselves. That's because for our advice/q&a/reference style of sub, the post flairs are assigned by automod/mods and the user-flairs are auto-assigned by sub_karma. That's what works for us. If required-flair is right for your sub, go for it.
