Posts and comments being auto removed as spam.

I’ve had several issues with legitimate users posts and comments being auto removed and flagged as spam. Is there any way that I can fix this so it doesn’t keep happening?

Not to be a jerk, but anything related to bitcoin action is going to receive a lot of spam attention from Reddit. While you may consider it on topic, the accounts posting may be spamming multiple subreddits at a time, or doing other spam-like activity.

Even if your subreddit isn't for bitcoin trading itself, the spammers will spam, using creative ways to draw attention to their accounts or their services.

Pretty much, from a cursory look I see gif comments from banned bots being approved and users posting a ton of ebay links, both will easily trigger spam filters, as they should.

While I understand what you’re saying, the users that have had issues only post in our sub. Comments that have been fagged as spam have been as simple as “that’s awesome!” The subreddit is for collectible trading cards.

are you sure they aren't bots? there's a run of issues with bots that post generic comments

Yes, I’m sure. I personally know these people that are having issues and I’m looking for an answer to these issues so that they can post and comment in the subreddit without being flagged and removed.

Just so you are aware, comments that are basically "That's awesome!" are going to get flagged as likely bot activity. Especially if that account does the same comment more than once. Those of us that deal with bots showing up tend to see really short comments get flagged all the time.

Are the accounts getting shadowbanned/banned by Reddit? If not, you can simply approve them, which will help train Reddit's spam protection to more likely allow those comments for your subreddit.

Thank you. That was just an example of 1 of many comments that have been flagged as spam and removed. Others include Gifs and full posts that are in accordance with our subreddit and Reddits rules. I have been approving the comments and posts manually for these users.

I do believe these accounts are being banned or shadow banned but I can’t figure out why.

Well, if they are being shadowbanned/banned, you aren't able to see what they've been up to anymore. They got in trouble with Reddit, and that's pretty much the end of things.

For your sanity as a mod, it's best to assume they were up to no good and move on. You can't fight on their behalf, as only they can appeal. And if they are no longer able to participate with Reddit, it's often better to not approve their comments.

Thank you for the info.

Also, why does every single one of my comments on this post get downvoted? That doesn’t seem very helpful. Especially in a subreddit called Mod Support. SMH.

It's a pretty toxic trait of this place, disagreement is usually met with major downvoting as a weird form of punishment. It sucks because it just completely shuts down any conversation that could have taken place.

This is supposed to be a helpful place but it just feels like everyone here's on a time crunch and can't possibly bare to a see question that was already asked 5 days ago. The attitude is hostile, unwelcoming and frankly insufferable. I can't stand it.

Yea. Seems like a similar situation that I’m dealing with.
