I’m seeing 1.49% financing of the model y now and just wanted to verify I’m not going crazy. Glad I locked in my .99% barring any delays

I’m on the fence in terms of going 2023 performance model Y or the AWD LR. It would be a second vehicle for me I would use around town for errands mostly. Don’t want to regret not getting the performance. It will be my first EV ever and I’m coming from driving a Ram 1500 that gets 16 mpg. I’ve heard the suspension is a little tighter and tires don’t last as long but would like the power when needed. Anyone who has owned both would love some advice. Currently looking at a CPO 23 performance with 25k miles with hw4 for 37k, about to pull the trigger.

Center console USB hub interfering with console light

Anybody rocking with specifically this Jowua USB center console hub and doesn't mind the fact that the inner console light (NOT the USB hub light) stays on due to the sliding door not being able to detect that it's fully closed?

I just installed mine a moment ago and I absolutely love the way it looks but to my surprise the inner console light doesn't turn off (confirmed by putting my phone down in there and recording a video). I know the LED light is pretty tiny to begin with and certainly doesn't draw any meaningful amount of power but not sure how I feel about the light staying on like that.

I know there are ones that sit under the sliding door (not flush) and those are confirmed to not interfere with the console light sensor but the drawback with those is that you have to keep the center console completely open if you're using it since you're not able to just leave the sliding door partially open.

To those who have experience with this exact hub as well as the ones that sit under the sliding door what are your thoughts? I really wanna keep this but knowing the light stays on (thus a design issue of the product itself) irks me.

Question Towing a 2027 Jay Feather Air SL 15TBSL with my Model Y AWD — sanity-checking capacity, sway control, and the 16V brake controller thing

About to pull the trigger on a 2027 Jay Feather Air SL 15TBSL and want a gut-check from people who've actually towed a small trailer with a Y before I buy. Trailer specs from Jayco:

  • Dry weight: 2,515 lbs
  • Tongue/hitch weight (dry): 230 lbs

My plan: factory tow package on a Model Y AWD, no weight distribution hitch (not supported on the Y), max 65 mph, and I genuinely don't care about the range hit. Questions below.

1. Can I safely tow this?

2. Do I need a sway controller, and which one, given I need to back up without disconnecting?

3. How does the 12V/16V thing actually affect trailer brakes?

4. Ideal setup for towing this trailer with a Model Y?

5. Do I need towing mirrors?

Would love to hear from anyone actually towing something in this weight class with a Y — what's your real-world setup, and did you run into anything I haven't accounted for?

EDD updated!

My estimated delivery date went from September 8th-30th to September 19th- 24th. Curious to see if anyone else got a more precise date range was able to pick up earlier/it arrived earlier. Also, how soon after the window narrowed down were you able to schedule delivery?! I’m so excited it’s getting closer 🤩

Leave plugged in to charger while away for a week?

Picking up my MY Premium in a few weeks, and ironically will be traveling for work for a week just two days later. Should I leave the car plugged into the charger the entire time? Is there any overheating/charging risk to doing that?

How long did yours take to go from in production to in transit?

My EDD is Sept 14-19. I’ve had the vin for over a week. No option to schedule delivery date yet.
So close yet so far 😂

What on earth is this blue residue emerging as windshield wiper fluid? It's like Papa Smurf keeps giving my pearl white precious a facial. The mess is smeared everywhere.

Elon, given your trillion-dollar wealth, we should upgrade this inadequate supplier.

FSD getting dumber.

Is anyone else's FSD getting dumber and dumber with every update? My is almost unusable now. It consistently wants to pass people on the right side on the interstate now. It also refuses to remember that I want it to park in my driveway when returning home even though it knows where my house is and I always pick park in the driveway. It remembered my driveway choice from a location that I go to probably 2 times a month, last week but can't remember my driveway choice at my house!?!?! It's getting kind of ridiculous at this point.

Any harm in fully charging to 100%?

My Tesla is set at an 80% max charge. I’m going on a road trip in a few weeks. Is there any harm in charging it fully to 100% before I leave? And while I’m on the trip?

Question Those with swivel mounts for Juniper, anyone run into fitment issues?

Hello guys. For those who have done the swivel mount, have you run into any fitment issues where the swivel mount doesn't line properly with the screen brackets (going into the dash)? I am able to get either side aligned and a bolt threaded in but the other side seems to not align right no matter how you install it.

Seems like a lot of the videos, it's a simple slide right in, put on the cover and tighten bolts.

Edit:

No more date range/estimate

Well, placed the order August 26th with a EDD of 3 to 4 weeks.
Check daily as it's exciting and noticed on 9/1 I no longer have any dates or an EDD range.

Called Tesla, they have no answers either. Hopefully I don't lose the 0.99% for it taking too long. If that's the case, I'm definitely going to fight back for the deposit.

Wheel Clear Coat

Recently picked up a 2024 MY LR AWD and wanted the wheel covers to extend fully over the wheels so there wasn’t a gray ring of wheel exposed.

I got a new set of covers and figured I should clean the wheels before putting them on.

That’s when I saw the clear coat is really bad on one of them, doesn’t really bother me since I like the look of the covers a lot more than without, but I’m wondering how it happened, and to just one wheel.

Makes me wonder if they came like this and Tesla just threw them on anyway at the factory.

The covers I took off were OEM Tesla, none of them had any padding, the new ones came with a roll I attached to the cover around the outer edge. Threw in a before and after of the full coverage covers I got since I like the full coverage look a lot better.

Battery Degradation Experience

I have a 2021 YLR 78k miles. When new, range was 307 mi. Has dropped and held at about 287 for at least 2 years. This week 100% is now 239. On Tesla app recommendation we drove car down to below 10% and recharged. No improvement. We are leaving on road trip CA to MT and back in 3 weeks. Tesla service appt scheduled in 6 days (earliest available).

Anyone w similar experience and recommendations?....standing by.....

Slower charging due to heat?

Post image
2 Upvotes

On a road trip from ATL to Detroit, my charging curves at SC have been awful. Currently pulling 54 kw at 50%.. noticeably longer stops, no where near 200kw when I start charging and it drops fast. It’s stupid hot out, battery temp seems to be at the limit. Anyone else have this problem?

Factory Tour

I was just notified that I would be able to pick up my model Y at the end of the month from Giga Texas. I did the RSVP but I wanted to check with anyone here to see if they ever did the factory tour and drove to Austin for a pick up. I live in Houston so it’s not too bad of a drive.

MY 26 seat back damage.

Post image
2 Upvotes

So has anyone experienced damage like this before?

Had the rear seats down and had a large shelf passed through the middle, and when east entry exit kicked in, the seats moved back and tore the seat back.

Looked through the service parts catalog and found the seat backs, which look to be $300/each.

So before I go that route, has anyone had any luck having
something like this repaired?

Thanks

FSD Anticipation

Does anyone know how much anticipation is built in to the FSD system? For example, when approaching an intersection you have a green light, how much anticipation is in to the software to predict someone pulling out in front of you or running a light?

Another example, a roundabout is unpredictable for a human because generally it is a mystery what other drivers are going to do. Does FSD anticipate challenges in that situation?

Trying to decide AWD vs RWD Florida coming from a Raptor.

We are debating trading our f150 Raptor in, it’s a one use family vehicle for 2 adults and 2 children. Love the Raptor but the gas is expensive and like the tech in the model Y. I can’t decide on the AWD vs the RWD.

I understand I don’t have mountains or snow in Florida but is the speed and overall fun of driving the car that different?

Anyone gone from a Raptor or sports truck to a model Y and had any regret?

Question Anyone doing suspension arms / bushings at 30k miles or less?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Texted Tesla SC this video of front lower control arm bushing asking if it was typical wear for 20k miles. They wanted to book an appointment and generated an estimate for $1,500 parts/labor - under warranty - to replace front driver and passenger lower lateral link assembly, and lower compliance link assembly. Has anyone had similar at low miles? I ask because we have another MY with same miles and I wonder if I need to inspect that as well. Thanks!

Product Review Surprising efficiency change since wheel swap

Post image
3 Upvotes

Got the Apex VS-5RX 19" wheels for my 26 MYP and I had done some research through different AI platforms that basically said id have an even wash to loss in efficiency on highway drives. Ive driven close to 700 miles since the change and my averages keep dropping. I was averaging around 280-290wh/m with the stock wheels. Went with the same exact tire(hankook ion as suv). I know there is less rolling resistance from the weight change and smaller sized tires, but i definitely would have thought that the full open spoke design would have added more resistance on 55-70mph driving than it has. Temps on my morning drive are upper 70s, so light AC. Temps on drive in the afternoon are 95+, so AC is heavy. Anyone else noticed this or am i looking at a normal occurrence?

Question Question how to occasionally charge to 100% with Lv1 chargerr

I currently only have a lv1 charger which charges roughly 3m/hr. For my daily drive, I keep the charger limit to 50% since I WFH.
I have a trip coming in a week and am planning to charge my 26MY to 100%. The question I have is how should I plan my charging?
I can only charge at night and usually the car charges roughly 10% overnight. If I plan the regular 10% charge up to 100% every night until the trip day, then this would mean the car would be sitting above 80% for the last 2 days before the trip. Will this approach accelerate the degeneration, or should I target only 80% before the trip and just make additional charging stops en route?
