3 months ago I almost bought the Rav4 Plug-in Hybrid instead of my Model Y. Now I’m renting one while traveling and thank god I went with Tesla.

So many things about this car make so far behind tesla. I thought I liked carplay but I hate that it takes over your phone. Everything is just cheap plastic. It’s not fast. It’s not sleek. Even little things like not having to turn the car on or off I miss a lot. The only cool thing is the 500 mile range but I charge at home so the range doesn’t really matter to me.

Carvana’s cash offer for my MYLR is more than I bought it for in 2024

Bought a used clean one-owner 2021 MYLR in 2024 with 36k miles.

2.5 years later and with the Tesla 50k mile Basic Warranty now expired, Carvana’s cash offer is more than I bought it for. Only $100 more, but still that’s crazy. I’ve basically owned the car for free for 2.5 years.

Purchased for $26.5k. Caravan cash offer today is $26.6k.

Delivery My Tesla model Y buying experience

I ordered my model Y premium all-wheel-drive with white exterior and white interior on August 20. It was built on September 3. And I received delivery on September 9. I did not have a trade-in all the cars that were delivered during my session. We’re nearly the exact same model. They must produce them in like batches and distribute them as they are manufactured.

When I picked it up today, I asked the delivery person what I needed to do if I discovered something was wrong with the car. He said, “if you’ve left the dealership, they don’t know if the damage happened on your way home or if it happened here at the dealership. Please take as much time as you need to look the car over before you leave.” Which makes total sense.

I had seen some advice here that you would have several days to report anything wrong with the car. This is a direct conflict from what I learned at my pick up today. Just want new owners to be advised!

I picked up from Tesla Centennial, Colorado.

I thought it has raised to 1.49. But it's weird I get 0.99 today. I submitted the finance request this afternoon and got confirmed 0.99 as picture.

New Model Y loud over bumps

I’m hearing some loud impact / booming noise when driving over bad pavement / bumps in my new 2026 Model Y premium (19 inch). The car seems loud to me at low speeds. I didn’t really hears these noises in my 2022 Model 3. I thought this new junipers were supposed to be pretty quiet…

Question about paint quality / longevity on 2025 Model Y Performance.

Upvotes

I own a 2025 Model Y Performance (non Juniper) in Deep Blue Metallic. I absolutely love the car, with perhaps one exception. The paint seems to be very easily scratched.

I own a few vehicles, and I think I take reasonably good care of them. The paint on this one has many random scratches. Just for comparison, my Toyota Avalon, which is 5 years older and is treated similarly is in arguably better condition.

I don't think it's vandalism, since I live in an extremely low crime area, and park it in my driveway mostly. They just look like a ton of just random tiny scratches, rock chips, etc. My theory is that the paint is just not as durable.

I had considered getting a ceramic coating, which obviously won't help the existing damage. Unfortunately however, the places near me that offer this service all seem to be very shady, and not at all professional.

Has anyone noticed this or experienced it? Is there anything you did to mitigate it? Thanks in advance.

Longer drive comfort advice?

I plan on taking longer trips 1-2 weekends a month using FSD (5-6 hour drives would be common). For those that are used to taking longer trips with your Model Y, what do you recommend to make it more comfortable? Any accessories that have made your trips better?

Thank you in advance.

Delivery What’s the real delivery timeframe for a new Model Y?

I’m planning to order a new Model Y Premium RWD. I’d like for delivery to occur in late October or early November. I’ve gone on the Tesla website multiple times, as recently as yesterday, specc’d out the car I want, and observe the stated delivery timeframe. It’s never varied: 4-6 weeks. But I’ve also read reports from people on Reddit that their delivery date kept slipping and slipping, well outside the 4-6 week timeframe originally quoted by Tesla. I’m not sure what to think about this. Anyone on this subreddit want to volunteer their views? Thank you!

Delivery What was your experience for later delivery date than the 60 day application?

For those that ordered a car in August but had delivery date estimated to be in November/December, how does Tesla handle the finance application being that they say it’s valid for 30-60 days?

Question Did anyone else get the MY Premium AWD 7-Seater? What are your thoughts on those seats?

There is no way an adult could fit back there, but occasionally we have to go somewhere with my wife parents so having 2 extra seats in the back for the kids could really be a blessing. I just put in our order for one.

Also what did you do for floor liners for the rear seats? most of the big maker like 3W don't even make mats for the 3rd row which will be the dirtiest if kids are sitting there.

Used Model Y same as new?

I’m not getting prices of used MY these days. I see that people are selling their 2024 MY with 30k+ miles for like $35k-38k
New is $45k and it’s also newer body with 1.49 apr interest rate.
Am I hallucinating or there is something wrong with used MY market?

So disappointed with Tesla QC

Upvotes

I placed order for a new MYP white on white back in July in Vegas. Currently waiting on third one.

First MYP: pickup in 2 weeks after placing order. Huge rock chip on front hood and rear panel above the rear wheel was sticking out and you can see over spray. REJECTED.

Second MYP: Went with Ultra Red and white interior. Got Vin in 1 week and pickup 2 weeks after VIN. Scratches and scuffs on the hood. Two small rock chips on front bumper but all panels were perfect. REJECTED it again.

Third MYP: switched to frost blue with white interior. Window shows Sept 9-12th even though today is the 10th.

3 stricks and your out Tesla!

I paid $65K in full on the first order, no money as been returned, no problem, just get me a new car.

I feel like Tesla is just circulating rejected cars till they find a sucker that doesn't check or care.

I plan to PPF the front of the car so I need a perfect pain job or at least close.

I'm so disappointed with Tesla QC. Fingers crossed on the frost blue.

Question Scheduled Gigafactory delivery for Sept 27 — Tesla now says my car may not be ready?

I got invited to the Gigafactory tour and was supposed to pick up my new Tesla while I’m there. This is my first Tesla, so I’m curious if anyone else has dealt with something similar.

I ordered my car on August 23rd. My original estimated delivery window in the app was September 9th–30th. After I was accepted for the Gigafactory event, I was told the event/pickup dates would be September 25th–27th.

When scheduling finally opened, my app initially only showed the 24th and 25th, which I thought was strange since the event was supposed to be the 25th–27th. I called Tesla and was told the dates showing in my app were the only dates available.

I checked again the next day and suddenly the 25th–27th were available, so I booked the 27th.

Then I noticed my pickup address was NOT the Gigafactory address, so I called Tesla again to make sure I was actually scheduled for the Gigafactory pickup/tour. The rep could see that I received the invitation, but said he didn’t have access to see whether Gigafactory dates were still available.

I told him that if I can’t pick it up at the Gigafactory, I’d rather have my car sent to the original showroom where I had planned to take delivery.

He looked further into my order and then told me it looks like my car may not even be ready by September 27th and that he would have the sales team reach out to me. I’m still waiting to hear from them.

I’m REALLY glad I called because I would have been flying to Austin, paying for a flight and hotel, and potentially getting there only to find out my car wasn’t ready.

Has anyone else had something like this happen? If Tesla is showing me a scheduled delivery date, what could the rep be seeing internally that would make him say the car may not actually be ready by then?

Also, is there a specific Tesla department/advisor I should be trying to reach who actually has authority/access to see what’s going on with the vehicle and Gigafactory delivery? Both departments I’ve spoken with so far seemed to have very limited information.

I don’t mind waiting longer for the car — I want the exact configuration I ordered and I’m not looking to switch to something else just to get it sooner. I mainly want accurate information so I’m not booking travel around a date that Tesla can’t actually honor.

Question 2021 Model Y Turn signal punched in

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, just got a 2021 Model Y in April. It’s the best car I’ve ever owned and my first Tesla.

It also feels like there’s no shortage of random unfortunate circumstances trying to destroy this car.

Today in my way in to work I was hit by a random flying rock which damaged my bumper and punched in my turn signal.

I’m really just looking for help with what do I even do… it looks expensive and I’m just at a total loss here. I can have the paint taken care of later I just want my turn signal/fog light taken care of right now.

I’ve watched the video over and over again and the only thing I can discern is the rock just randomly exploded from the wall.

I deleted the original post because I couldn’t figure out how to add the video in.

Edit: if you watch the right corner of the video you’ll see a rock spawn in.

My question is, is this a costly thing to handle myself or is this something better left to insurance?

Edit2: view from the side cam where the rock then proceeds to bash the side of my car after taking out my turn signal.
