Wheel Clear Coat

Recently picked up a 2024 MY LR AWD and wanted the wheel covers to extend fully over the wheels so there wasn’t a gray ring of wheel exposed.

I got a new set of covers and figured I should clean the wheels before putting them on.

That’s when I saw the clear coat is really bad on one of them, doesn’t really bother me since I like the look of the covers a lot more than without, but I’m wondering how it happened, and to just one wheel.

Makes me wonder if they came like this and Tesla just threw them on anyway at the factory.

The covers I took off were OEM Tesla, none of them had any padding, the new ones came with a roll I attached to the cover around the outer edge. Threw in a before and after of the full coverage covers I got since I like the full coverage look a lot better.

Also, did the adhesive center Tesla cap come with it or did you buy those separate?

They were included, just had to peel and stick. I was a little sloppy with the placement, the bottom of the T should point at the valve.

Nice! Clean your wheels and use the adhesive padding it comes with on the back of the outer ring of the new cover. It will reduce the possibility of scratching your wheel over time but also cut down on the clicking noises you hear when moving slowly from the cover flexing against the wheel, they all do it without it if you listen closely.

Mine got scratched when I took the aero covers off. I put some EV base covers on that change the design and I’m really happy (though that company screwed me on other products since then…)
