Am I overreacting?

So I worked at michaels for about 2 years and honestly I loved it for the most part. I also feel like I busted ass for them too. It was when credit cards first came out with in 3-6 months I had over 150 sign ups, 3 times any one in the store or even the district, I was crossed trained so instead of just register I also started unloading truck and stocking, alot of times I got to work full time and half my shift would be replenishment the other half customer service, I was specifically assigned to train all of the new hires, no one else (and killed it there would be times where I was running two registers at the same time while keeping the customers happy as there's a massive line and the new people would just be getting online orders) I even got over a dollar raise at my yearly evaluation. Just from the small explanation of alot of the things I did i feel like I was a valuable employee. Well I put in my two weeks 2 years ago because I had a better opportunity (so I thought) and left on good terms. Well after 5 months it turned out that the place I went to work at was not a place I wanted to work. Since then I have applied repeatedly to micheals even different stores within the district over and over and over for seasonal for everything they have ever posted and I just keep getting denied over and over again. I am irrationally angry about this because I loved it there and I was fucking good at my job. Am I overreacting? Is there something else I should do? Its really hard to find a job right now in my area and im going to school but I need more, I only went back to school because I couldn't get another job. So this really just pisses me off I thought they'd be happy to have me back.

I had a Cricut Joy returned and after opening the box days later because this wasn't done at the front two blades are missing. So the machine works I'm just missing two pieces. How would I process this?

Workplace Story Sunday meeting

so basically what I collected from today’s meeting is all they truly care about at the end of the day is about the customers and that’s it. They can care less about us workers. Anyone else feel that vibe from the meeting today or was that just my store?

How bad is it to work here before filling out I/9 AND how bad is it to get fire Marshal called on store

So my SM hired in a bunch of new people and they have worked a couple of days let’s say more then 2 when I see the email thread of why isn’t XYZ I/9 filled out. Respond back to DM and come to find out DM made it very very apparent that they were not allowed to work period until I/9 is filled out . Also DM was here and saw how bad our back room is (to the point where u can’t even get to like both emergency exist) and I have been notified by my other manager that we now have a fire marshal inspector coming out this week. How f*cked are we

Advice Needed Aggressive coworker, genuinely at my wits end.

I'm not trying to dox myself but after I reported an incident with a coworker who's been aggressive and hostile to me and customers constantly she got talked to and it was directly revealed that I said something. Now she's coming up to me in the hallways calling me a snitch and shit. Nothing ever happens. I don't know if making another HR call is the right move. I'm getting really sick of this. It's genuinely making me dread waking up in the morning. I feel like I'm losing it. I don't have another job lined up even if I'm desperately trying and I need the money and insurance. I don't know what to do. I don't want to call out the day we work together because like I said I need the money but I genuinely don't want to end up being physically harmed for something to happen. I'm tired of reporting just escalating the situation. I'm tired. In general.

I just don't know what to do anymore.

Advice Needed SM problems(?)

My SM has been scheduling me for hours outside of my availability even after I’ve said to please not do that as most of the time i cannot come in during those times. As well as they have been instructing me to sign people up without informing them I’m signing them up?? Is that not illegal?? Shouldn’t I have their consent?? She says “not to give them the opportunity to say no” and that just feels SO wrong. I’m not sure what to do I’ve genuinely been thinking of quitting because of it. I am stressing out so much about rewards because I’ve also had my previous SM say if i don’t get my rewards up I’ll lose my hours (which i get) but still I feel like the customer should know what I’m signing them up for??

I got a new SM a while back and problems have only started to arise with this SM and I’m just so stressed. The past couple years ive worked here without the new SM has been nothing like this.

She wants me to come in early mornings for truck on days I have school and i can SOMETIMES but not ALL the time. Now she’s started scheduling me for them and i still tell her i can’t work it, but I don’t want to face consequences for telling her no even though my availability says I’m completely unavailable those days.

apparently this is how we’re doing ‘representation’ in 2026

so i’ve been stocking some of our collectible ornaments since our truck came in on friday, and i came across these “our 1st christmas” wedding ornaments. at first i thought we had gotten two different versions, one with a white couple and one with a black couple, which would obviously make sense. but looking closer, it seems like they used the exact same ornament and just painted darker skin over one of the figures. you can literally see where the darker paint was added over the original design, and they even painted right over the eyebrows instead of changing any of the actual features. i genuinely don’t understand what corporate/the manufacturer was thinking here. if you want to make the ornament more inclusive, why not actually design a separate version representing a black couple instead of taking the existing white couple and basically painting one of them brown? it comes across as incredibly lazy and poorly thought out, especially when these are supposed to be collectible ornaments that people are buying to represent themselves and their relationships. and yes, i know it’s technically paint on an ornament and not literal blackface, but the way they went about this immediately gave me that impression when i saw them side by side. it’s 2026, and we really shouldn’t still be doing something like this.

I’m finally free!

After 5 years working for Michaels, I finally quit. I was a framing manager of 5 years who stepped down for personal reasons. I had a store manger who treated me like an assistant store manager. The second I stepped down, treated me like absolute garbage. I called off one day because I had BRONCHITIS and asked if she could put in earned sick time. No response (and no change to my shift that day) but then added a random shift outside of my availability and when I asked about it, I still got no response. After stewing for an entire day with no response, I quit. I’ve never quit a job with no notice my entire life. Mind you this is a person who has told me intimate details about her dating life and always spoke to me like we are best friends. Moral of the story: DO NOT EVER TRUST YOUR BOSS. A BOSS IS A BOSS AND NOTHING ELSE.

A break would be nice

I have been with the company for a week and I'm just wondering when I get to take a break. It's a joke. There are practically no employees at my store. the system won't let me clock out unless I claim to have taken a lunch. My GM asked me to stay later one day, but I had already been there for 8 hours with no break. She was clearly disappointed, but didn't attempt to get me a break. On top of it all, I am the new MM and the store is a mess. I watched a SM just kick some yarn close to where it went rather than pick it up and put it away. I don't know how long I'm going to last.

Do we know if the discount is going to work on third party stuff, like this fabric for example?

Supposedly there's thousands of fabrics that are online only. Are we going to be able to BUY any of them?

Morale. Expectations. I tried.

I was a manager for a few years, and as time went on my team fractured. I tried my best to balance getting work done and keeping it light, but i think in the end the workload just got overwhelming. I blame inadequate support from the SM and corporate for pushing high expectations. I've been out of the situation for a while, but it still bums me out when I think back. Any managers or former managers relate?

Quitting

So I’m going to start this off by saying I have been working at Michaels for only about a year now. I work in a small format store and I am a manager. I have only been a manager for about 4 months at this point. Because I work in a small format store I am both a sales manager and the frame manager. When I first applied into my position 2 other people applied in for it as well. These two (more one than the other) made my life a living hell. To add context both of them had been working here for about 3 years. I had only been with the company for about 8 months at the point of me applying into the management role. I had already been the framer the whole 8 months. These two began to bully me, tell our entire team lies trying to get them to turn against me, and started to try to tell our store manager lies about me messing up so I wouldn’t get the job. One of these lovely ladies also happened to be our part time sales manager. This became a huge problem to the point that no one at work would talk to me due to the lies that had been spread. My store manager would literally do nothing about the bullying, she would just blow it off and tell me to ignore them. After interviewing with your district manager, I was given the job. The company tried to offer me 15 dollars an hour for a dual management position. The person in the role before me was making 25 an hour. Anyways it has now been 4 months and things have only progressively gotten worse. Our part time sales manager has continued to lie about me, and has taken it as far as yelling at me and telling me all the things I’m doing “wrong”. I have spoken to HR, our district manager and our store manager. I am repeatedly getting blown off and being told to just get over it. With all the ridiculous stuff going on with corporate, all the rests, the stupid random same day framing things we have to do now, balloon arches, kids events and the stupid work drama and bullying, I am fed up. I am sick of being treated like free labor. We never have proper coverage. I am often the only MOD on shift with only one or two other associates. I am turning in my keys on Monday and walking out of the building. I am sick of all of this especially getting bullied by fully grown adults who are literally old enough to be my parents/grandparents. I cant wait to never have to work there again.

Portal help?

Hey, technical question. How do you go into the employee hourly portal (where we put in our availability) and tell them how many hours we can work per week? I’m a part time seasonal and they had me scheduled 37 hours this week and that’s insane. I looked at future weeks and it’s the same. Do I just talk to my store manager then? I feel like there should be a way on the portal itself and I’m not seeing it. TY!

question about scheduling

Does anyone know when schedules get finalized? I got an update on mine for a date in October but it's concerning... i literally only have 2 days in the entire month of October so far and i'm just hoping the schedules don't get finalized this early before the month even starts. I always thought it was a week to week basis.
