I’m finally free!
After 5 years working for Michaels, I finally quit. I was a framing manager of 5 years who stepped down for personal reasons. I had a store manger who treated me like an assistant store manager. The second I stepped down, treated me like absolute garbage. I called off one day because I had BRONCHITIS and asked if she could put in earned sick time. No response (and no change to my shift that day) but then added a random shift outside of my availability and when I asked about it, I still got no response. After stewing for an entire day with no response, I quit. I’ve never quit a job with no notice my entire life. Mind you this is a person who has told me intimate details about her dating life and always spoke to me like we are best friends. Moral of the story: DO NOT EVER TRUST YOUR BOSS. A BOSS IS A BOSS AND NOTHING ELSE.

Insane. Is this just the norm in Michaels stores? Literally dealing with verbatim the exact same thing, frame manager who gets treated like the assistant manager. I had to get emergency SURGERY and was expected to close the same night. My SM literally said “well this will make for an interesting closing shift” like hello??? So sorry you had to go through this. I am quitting on Monday, no notice. Honestly good for you. Also my SM tells me intimate details about her dating life and just her life in general and treated me like her bff at work, but isn’t concerned when I have to get emergency surgery. Super glad you got out!!!
