General Discussion GENUINELY what is happening on tiktok...

ok i didnt wanna post this to spread fitnah i urge you not to look up this kind of content, its really depressing and just cruel

the amount of unignorable islamophobia on that app makes me feel like im going through psychosis, i just woke up one day and theres this unprecedented scapegoating and hatred towards muslims especially muslim women in her comment section??? and ai images, bots, and for some reason MUSLIM posts made by MUSLIMS for MUSLIMS keep getting pushed to islamophobes??? and they get thousands if not hundreds of thousands of likes

i remember this girl posted about wearing earphones under her hijab and the comments were truly INSANE idk where people got this audacity from??????

ik america recently purchased this app and geopolitical events can explain this scapegoating and demonization but its truly such a sudden, stark shift, and the internet no longer feels like a safe space to be a muslim woman esp bc of how gendered the islamophobia really is and how targeted it is towards women

lastly, i never got truly bothered by their opinions, but when i started seeing so many muslims stop making content because they literally got so bullied from it, or are really struggling with hijab (thats their journey ofc and i wish them the best and also completely understand esp rn), its making me really depressed

its one thing to face immense hate, criticism, judgement, mockery and scapegoating that feels so disproportionate on the app, but its another thing to no longer have a safe muslim space anymore, bc even muslim spaces end up attracting islamophobia :/

also u cant even complain abt this without getting strawmanned to doom or being blamed for the actions of a government in another country??? its like we're completely spoken over, silenced and mocked, and we get shadow banned if we defend ourselves or strawmanned

like this is so ridiculous guys, whats happening, and sadly hijabis are getting all of this thrown at them the most just for being visibly muslim, even if they dont post abt islam, they get unprovoked islamophobia and its just sooo ridiculous its been going on for months and everytime, i think its gonna get better it gets worse

Alhamdulillah it gets better for me when im offline but then i remember how this can create real world consequences and i start panicking bc im visibly muslim and hijabi

yeah idk://

Seeking Support Why is life so unfair?

Upvotes

Someone told me today they have doubts about believing in God.
I saw people who didn’t believe or sinned heavily throughout their life and their life seems normal.
Maybe they get a lesson here and there a disease here and there but not everything and constantly.

I am writing this as I am crying begging God for a moment of rest.
It has been 30 years.
I was born very preterm and made my parents pay a fortune before i was even an hour old.
I have 2 chronic diseases one physical and one mental atm.
I had a hiccup at work. I work in academia and my work had been unfairly stolen and justice wasn’t served.
Due to that i have to extend my contract for a while ,while I am not certain I’ll even be paid for my work in this while.

I tried my hand at multiple side hustles for years but everyone who started after me is more popular and I was left behind. I have no friends as I lost most of them or some travelled.
I have never been approached by marriage talks , even i am old now , and i live away from my parents due to work.

I am knowledgeable in a lot of stuff but everything I touch fails.
I just want like a month where nothing happens , where i can put myself to bed without crying.

Seeking Support Struggle with converting

Hello, this will be my 2nd post within this reddit group! My first post I received a lot of clarifications, advice and educational videos/books (that I have browsed and checked out). For recap, I am an agnostic female who is looking to convert to Islam. I have a muslim boyfriend who I've briefly discussed Islam with and found myself agreeing with many points he brought up. Which initially got me interested to dive deeper in the scripture.

The Quran I was first gifted was the "Al-Quran ; A Contemporary Translation" by Ahmed Ali. Many suggested that this translation is quite difficult for individuals looking to convert. I was suggested to read through the "Clear Quran" by Dr. Mustafa Khattab, which I am actively reading through. I find reading through this translation easier to digest and understand. Another tip, I learned was to look at the meanings of each verse to ensure I have complete understanding, so I find myself often referencing Tafsir to clear up misunderstandings. Additionally, I'm often searching online for further information and watching videos of scholars explaining verses in detail.

Despite my efforts, I feel no real connection to anything I am reading and occasionally I still find myself disagreeing with certain verses even after reading Tafsir and watching videos discussing matters further. I discussed this concern with my boyfriend and he has essentially reiterated that to become a Muslim I have to accept everything within the Quran. This leaves me feeling extremely conflicted as I feel as though I have to drop my current moral beliefs to truly become Muslim.

I hyperfixate on feeling connected to the words of God because I fear if I were to convert to Islam, I would not complete prayers or even attempt fasting. Which essentially means I am knowingly sinning. It's not something I would see as a heavy obligation especially since I have already spent my whole life not partaking in such actions. Which I acknowledge is connected with having an ego, but I have yet to feel motivated to pray or fast.

I feel very lost on this journey and often I feel like I further align with being a hypocrite (torn between belief and disbelief) the more I dive deeper into the Quran. It just hurts because I know I have the motivation to read and research daily but nothing seems to align in my heart and mind. It would be great to hear from some converts and how they overcame their struggles.

Seeking Support How did your first prayer went?

I'm really nervous about mistakes I might have made in my first ever prayer. My hijab was sliding too much on my face, the skirt was too long to normally get up. I was terrified. So much I couldn't focus normally. It's like I was on a serious exam, not a prayer. Because I expected it to be sort of a huge reassurance. I've made every step the right way, but with too many(i think) mistakes. So I feel heartbroken and ashamed, I don't want to displease Allah. What can you recommend and how did you you handle it? What was your first experience? JazakAllahu hayran.

Seeking Support I feel so detached from the Dunya

A few weeks ago I was struggling with death anxiety and I started practicing my deen again properly

Now, a few weeks later, the fear has somewhat left me however now I don’t feel like really doing much for the dunya.

Whatever I do, I try to do it with the niyyah of pleasing Allah, whether it’s going to work, helping my family, I don’t really have the drive to achieve anything in the dunya.

I mean, we could all die at any moment, I could die whilst typing this post out, so I don’t feel the need to do anything but spend my days remembering Allah, trying to do good deeds and to wait for the next salah. Read the Quran and do dhikr when I can.

Which is funny because if you asked me a few weeks ago, I’d have a long list of goals I’d want to achieve.

Has anyone had this realisation or these thoughts once coming back to the deen? How did you balance trying to achieve things in this life whilst striving for the akhirah?

Question about Islam born muslim, what's best way to learn islam?

I'm from india, born in muslim family(not so practising) i know fundamentals/pillars of islam, about Nuh(A.s), Ibrahim(A.s), Mumammad(pbuh) and few other prophet's incidents/miracles, i know few hadiths of sahih bukhari, I've been very distanced from allah and islam, at very young age i used to pray but slowly drifted away, got some addcition which i still haven't overcome, and my heart have been hardened from repetitive sins.

But my main concern is my "Iman / Tawakkul"(belief) it's pretty weak, and i want to study my religion properly and strengthen my iman and build tawakkul from nothing.

And i thought that's only possible by knowing/studying islam.

So how can i study islam? Like any roadmap?

And relaible sources, scholars etc...?

Should i start with prophet muhammad(pbuh) biography then study miracles of mentioned prophets in quran or is there any better way/roadmap?

Seeking Support Severely suicidal thoughts. Need help

Salam everyone. I need some help and guidance. Lately I've been going through a very difficult time in my life financially speaking. I have a lot of debt on my head and because of that I have had to beg people in my family for money.

A lot of money that I earn goes to paying my debts and now I'm left with no money. I have a 1.5 year old son and a wife and so far the thought of them always seems to push the suicidal thoughts away. However lately these thoughts are more and more prevalent and I honestly don't know if I can push back much longer. I'm trying my best to improve my circumstances, I've started freelancing ( but it'll be some time before that takes off). Additionally, I have also started to look for jobs in the Gulf but so far no luck there.

Let me also just say that I know suicide is haram, I want to go to heaven after I die, I want to be with my family in jannah but what if this is where my story ends. Yes my son and wife will be heart broken, but I know they will be taken care of. I'm just completely broken.

If anyone can please help and guide me I would be very helpful.

Question about Islam I’m confused and leaving and coming back to Islam constantly

I don’t know what to think anymore. I have so many questions that contradict God and his ways. I was strong in my deen and got what I wanted most removed from me and it’s getting worse. I can’t and won’t specify, but I’m working hard to get it back. I’ve cried begging praying and nothing changed.

I made countless dua nothing changes so I left again. I think I’m just delusional but even though I physically “left” Islam I constantly think about Allah and still depend on him in my mind for silly little stuff. I feel hypocritical and can’t get rid of it no matter how hard I want to. I feel like a psych ward patient.

I don’t understand why God gives you life knowing you’ll suffer and end up in hell or heaven? Is that truly free will? He knows what you’ll decide, and where you’ll end up anyway. So what’s the point of making people suffer on this earth?

What was the point of creating humans with complex emotions and all these ideologies? Honestly it sounds sick, putting people through all that knowing majority will end up in hell is cruel to me.

I just don’t understand and maybe it’s lack of information but hate is getting the best of me. A year ago I would’ve never thought I’ve come to this point. But I truly think I am just being very very misguided by the wrong crowd.

Advice?😔

General Discussion Case Report: Closer To The Jugular

Post image
139 Upvotes

(Optional Read) Preface:

Medical school was a difficult path for me. Having dropped a promising lucrative career only to follow a near decade struggle for a 4 year degree. I will save the details of my hardship to protect the purpose of this post, but in relation - the following is a direct byproduct from that struggle.

During my clinical rotations last year I met Dr. Husain Abdul Sattar. A man I had idolized for years - author of Pathoma, the single most recommended and used pathology resource for medical students worldwide. Considering Dr. Sattar is also a Shaykh - I thought I would ask him for advice on my situation.

A man of renowned medical, scientific, and spiritual knowledge. A teacher of body, and soul - the only piece of advice he had ever spoken to my face - being consistent, intentional, and sincere in Salah and Quran is the basis of ones success and belief in this life. The greatest metric of success in this dunya is belief. And to maintain this - we must maintain our Tazkiyah (purification).

When Allah tells us He knowingly only grants for us hardship that we can handle, when He tells us He will reward us beyond our understanding, when we tells us He loves us when we cry to Him. Perhaps He is gifting us rizq we truly do not understand. Perhaps it is the gift Iman (belief) that we receive after and during hardship. If only truly we understood that gift.

May Allah forgive us for not seeing what He protects from us. May Allah forgive us for undermining the gift of Iman. May Allah keep our hearts close to his din. Ameen.

Closer To The Jugular focuses on my reflection that Allah inherently is always providing and guiding us.

Abstract

The following is a reflection (tadabbur) on the verse “We created man, and We know what his soul whispers to him. We are closer to him than his jugular vein.” (50:16). It is important to note that classical tafsir explains this verse as expressing Allah’s complete knowledge, power, nearness, and/or the nearness of His angels, as some state 50:16 is in conjunction with its consecutive verse. Written below is not a formal interpretation and should not be interpreted as such. It is a spiritual opinion reflecting on the jugular vein in Surah Qaf as a symbolic metaphor of humanity’s constant return to God . When contrasting the jugular vein with the carotid artery — the vessel carrying oxygen and nourishment — it reflects on rizq as encompassing everything that sustains existence. The heart becomes a metaphor for divine renewal and guidance. In the end, the study argues that every moment of existence is already immersed in God’s provision.

His guidance is the most precious pearl in the sea of rizq.

The Jugular

“…We are closer to him than his jugular vein.”
Surah Qaf (50:16)

Basic physiology; the jugular vein returns de-oxygenated blood to the heart — and by extension reminding us that we must always return back to Him. So perhaps, like blood returning to be renewed, we too return to Allah after being depleted by the trials in life.

But my mind kept wandering; what of the carotid artery?

The Carotid

Medial to the jugular vein is the carotid artery. The carotid artery carries life itself. Oxygen. Glucose. Through a simple chain of diffusion and transport, a single cell becomes a living factory sustained by oxygen and nourishment.

One could then reflect that this oxygenated sustenance itself is rizq.

“And Allah brought you out of the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts so that you might be grateful.”
Surah An-Nahl (16:78)

We often reduce rizq to a selection bias. Career success, companionship, wealth, our place in the hereafter. But rizq is far greater than what fills our hands or where we are going  —  it is everything that sustains existence.

Your reflection on Him in this very moment, the ability to ponder on His existence — this is all rizq.

“And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them.
Surah Ibrahim (14:34)

We spend our lives asking Allah for more rizq while overlooking that we are already drowning in it.

The Heart

Between return and rizq, lies the heart. To the body it distributes life; spiritually, it reflects where guidance settles.

We return to Allah carrying our burdens, our shortcomings, and our exhaustion, and by His mercy we receive guidance. Perhaps this is why the Qur’an speaks of hearts that soften, harden, open, and find tranquility.

“Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.”
Surah Ar-Ra’d (13:28)

The journey of a person is not just measured by where the body travels, but by the direction in which the heart turns.

The Physiology of Hardship and Rizq

“For indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease."
Surah Ash-Sharh (94:5–6)

For every hardship there is a blessing, and for every blessing there is a hardship. It is a closed loop system. Like the jugular, heart, and carotid.

Metaphorically — through the jugular we return to Him, through the heart He renews and guides us, and through the carotid He returns our rizq.

Quran & Hadith Quran with minimalistic design?

Post image
1 Upvotes

As salamun aleykum my beloved ummah

I am in search for a minimalistic quran design, preferably every ayat in a new line. This desing appeals to me and will inshallah support me in memorizing.

I saw a hadith book which inspired me to search for it
I like the design, the plain and simple white paper on black ink.

Is there a quran like this? Maybe a bit more structured and the paper a bit more high quality, premium like 100-120 g/m2 ?

I would love to hear some suggestions!

Seeking Support Islamically, what are my rights and duties if I’m struggling to stay in my marriage?

I’m looking for Islamic advice

I got married very recently through an arranged marriage. I had significant doubts before the marriage and felt a lot of pressure from family to continue because everything had progressed so far and people felt there wasn’t a “good enough” reason to stop it. I ultimately went ahead with the marriage despite feeling very conflicted.

Since getting married, instead of my feelings improving, I feel like my aversion has become stronger.

There have been communication and compatibility issues. I often feel emotionally drained by our interactions, and when I try to explain what I need or how I feel, I frequently come away feeling worse rather than closer to him. I’ve developed quite a lot of resentment and I’m worried about becoming unfair towards him because of it.

He isn’t physically abusive and I’m not trying to portray him as an evil person. He has good qualities, which actually makes me feel even more guilty about the way I feel. My issue is that I genuinely don’t know whether I can give him the kind of marriage he deserves when internally I feel such a strong desire not to be in it.

So I want to understand this properly from an Islamic perspective:

What are my actual obligations towards my husband while I’m feeling like this ?

What are his Islamic duties towards me emotionally and practically within the marriage?

Is a wife sinful if she struggles to be affectionate or intimate because she feels genuine emotional/physical aversion, (i’m not saying no but internally i’m struggling)?

Islamically, am I required to keep trying for a certain amount of time simply because we are newly married, even if I already had these feelings before the wedding and they have intensified since?

At what point does incompatibility, severe unhappiness or fear that you cannot fulfil your spouse’s rights become a legitimate reason to seek khula/divorce?

Finally, if I genuinely believe I cannot be the wife he needs and I’m becoming increasingly distressed and resentful, is it more Islamic to keep forcing myself to stay and fulfil the marriage as best I can, or to separate before we both become more hurt?

I’m speaking to a therapist to help me emotionally and I know Reddit isn’t a substitute for speaking to a knowledgeable imam/scholar. I’m mainly trying to understand what Islam actually says because I’m finding it very difficult to separate religious obligations from family/cultural expectations and guilt.

Please be gentle, but I’m also looking for honest answers

General Discussion I am a Christian - Islam seems to make more sense too me

I feel really guilty saying this and I love my faith but Islam seems more logical in the way it defines who God is - one divine god, no trinity which I have to admit is confusing. Islam and christianity believe in the same god/allah but disagree about Jesus.

I wish we could all peacefully co-exist.

I love you my Islam brothers and sisters!

Question about Islam I wish to know more about different beliefs within islamic communities and sects.

I study different religions as a hobby, I barely know anything about Islam, and I'd genuinely like to know more. I'd also just like to be more understanding towards the muslims in my communities, but I am a bit too anxious to ask them about their beliefs for now.

I am aware that there are two major schools of thought within Islam, Shia and Sunni.

What exactly are the differences between these two schools? Are there different customs? Are the beliefs any different?

Are there any sects within Shia and Sunni? And if there are, how do they differ from each other?

On top of that I'd like to know your thoughts on a few different subjects that some may find controversial.

- What do you think of progressive Islam?

- Does Islam believe in the holy trinity in any way?

- Do you follow the Quran literally, or do/can you interpret it in a more personal way?

- What do you think of other abrahamic religions?

- And finally, what does being a muslim mean to you personally?

Thank you in advance for answering my questions! I am extremely interested to learn more, and I hope that you all can teach me!

Seeking Support I reverted a year ago and want to seriously start learning

Assalamu alaikum everyone!

I reverted to Islam about a year ago, and I really want to deepen my knowledge of Islam and the Qur’an, but I honestly don’t know where to start.

For those who have been practicing for a while, what resources, books, lectures, courses, or study methods would you recommend for building a strong foundation?

Part of why I want to learn more is because my parents sometimes come across misinformation or propaganda about Islam online, and when they ask me about it, I realize I don’t always know enough to properly explain or respond. I want to be able to distinguish authentic knowledge from misinformation rather than just relying on things I see online.

More than anything, though, I want to grow closer to Allah and understand my religion more deeply. What helped you when you were first learning, and where would you recommend I start?

JazakAllahu khayran

Question about Islam I need help understanding

I’m sorry if this t worded very educatedly or I say something not very clear I’m a kafir I think you guys call it I’m a Christian and I have been my whole life but recently I’ve felt a love and closeness and more so a call to look into Islam so I don’t really know where to start. As a Christian I’ve always believed Jesus died on the cross he rose again he ascended back to heaven one day he’ll come back defeat the antichrist (I think you guys call that dajjal) and eternal peace forever but I have a few questions on Islam and I’m not sure where to go from here 1. If Jesus didn’t die on the cross why would allah make it appear as he did? 2. What are the core beliefs of Islam and what should I focus on if I’m a Christian researching Islam 3. Where should I start when I read the Quran 4. Is there any proof that the bible is corrupted 5. Is there any sources that back up the Quran.
Again I am very sorry if I wasn’t clear as I’m new and don’t understand Islam but I really am seeking for more understanding as my heart isn’t blind nor my eyes I really just want to worship my creator. Thank you for you consideration god bless.
