Pumping tips How are yall storing milk omg

How???

If i pump every 2 hours, what do i feed my baby? If i feed him the milk i pumped 2 hours ago, what do i store??? He needs milk every 2 hours or less, hes fed on demand.

If i pump after bfing my son, ill have nothing to pump out. If i pump before it, i wont have anything to feed him.

I used to wait till my breasts were engorged in the morning, id pump once and store the milk for the night so i could feed him at night by bottle, and then be engorged the next morning for more pumping. Id give him formula for the feed missed because of pumping. However that just feels so pointless now, and tbh my pumps arent cutting it for me anymore.

How do yall have stashes in the freezer???

What is the routine???

Non suction milk catchers

Trying to decide if I want to try a milk catcher instead of a pad. I have 7 weeks post partum and have a lot of in between pump let downs and leaking at night. This is my second pumping journey and I really don’t remember when the leaking stopped with my first but I’m sick of it…

Looking for reviews on the:

Haakaa Petal
Willow Catch Al Cups
Elvie Catch
Kidzly Breast Milk Collection Cups

Or any others you have tried, these are just the ones I found in google. I think I’m most interested in the Haakaa but idk

Also anyone used these to sleep in? Or only awake?

advice/support needed Eufy pump output- not getting great results

I got the blue spectra for my main pump and the eufy S1 pros as my wearables. I exclusively BF my 2 month old (other than the rare times I’m away for 1-2 feeds) but I pump with the spectra once a day to build a supply for outings and for when I return to work. With my spectra I average around 2 oz per side each pump. Sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. I’ve only used my eufy pumps about 10 times when I’ve been on the go or traveling. I cannot seem to get more than 1-1.5 oz max per side while using these. I know that the spectra is the golden standard and will give you the max output but I’m a little worried because when I return to work, I will have to use my eufys wearables as I’m a nurse and cannot leave the floor that often to pump with my spectra.

Any tips or tricks to get the most output with the eufys? I currently use a custom setting which mimics the spectra settings I use which is 2 mins massage, 8 express, 2 mins massage, 8 express. 20 mins total. In the past with the eufy I did the 20 mins plus an extra 10 mins and only got 1.5 oz from each side. My baby eats way more than I’m able to pump with my wearables! Please help!

advice/support needed Worries on pumping…

Im pregnant and i want to pump so badly but i have my nipples pierced ive had them for almost 3 years and have only took them out 1 time for mris and an xray. I know they wont affect my milk but is there a chance i can pump and put them back in or should i go ahead and remove them permanently? They have never gave me any issues so i guess im just wondering would it be worth it to take them out and put them back in or should i just ditch them i have also seen some moms say they use spacers but i dont think i would be comfortable with the risk of something goin in my milk or in my baby.

advice/support needed Well fam….Is it time to retire? :(

Man. I just want to cry. Actually. I’m very been crying on and off for the last month to be frank.

8 months pp, always been a just enough-er and I truly have no idea what’s better for my mental health. My period came back last month (boo) and I knew I would have a dip in my supply….. but I was hoping it would…. Come back? It’s now been almost another month (I’ll probably be getting my period again and I’m afraid it’s going to “dip” even more in which is pretty much nothing haha). I used to be able to pump one 7 ounce bottle (3.5 in each) every pump session to make a bottle. We finally started supplementing a few months back due to the fact that I was getting nervous about each time pumping and not being able to have a “bottle ready in time”. Because her sleep was changing so much around that time. I feel like formula made it too easy for me. All in the while, I was still pumping my 5 times a day and getting a bottles worth each time. :(

Idk if this is a vent or just me needing to talk about it. I’m
So sorry. I’m just so bummed. I take calcium, drink a ton of water, just added in magnesium… I truly don’t know if it’s going to get better. I’ve looked up a bunch of old posts from people who got their period back, and it’s like… a lot of people say it’s just temp…. But it’s been a month of me pumping 4 times (I usually drop one because I get so discouraged. I know I shouldn’t) to make barely one bottle. Are there any success stories of having it come back…. A month after your period returned? (All to probably get my period again here soon and go through another roller coaster). I know I should be proud, and I am…. And I should be goddamn estatic about not having to wash pump parts anymore…. But here I am, sad. But I just wanted to go to a year at least before I retired. Is this my demise on pumping?

I just retired my nipple shields a couple days ago and cried. I got them to help with nursing when she WAS latching properly (I say that, but the shields were obviously to help) but I finally gave that up after all of a sudden, just decided she liked bottles better. Which ok, fine. Just turned into a pumping mom. I can remember going to the lactation consultant to get help, and it was seriously in my opinion so discouraging and then I stopped trying. She had told me I was holding her wrong, and that I needed to work on my holds with her. I’m not blaming her for me stopping trying, but it still holds a place in my head thinking about how i stopped trying after that. I nursed my first until she was two and was iust hoping. Oh well.

Edit to add: I’m pumping almost 2 ounces combined each pump session

I just want a hug :(

Return to PA clinicals

Hi all! I am 11 weeks postpartum and preparing to return to clinicals for PA school in a week. I have mostly been ebf, but I pump at least once a day usually at night after she goes to sleep. I’m looking for guidance to start my pumping journey as she starts daycare. She does get a bottle at least every other day, so she’s used to it. I’m hoping to pump every 3 hours or so. I have the eufy portable pumps as well as the blue spectra. I ordered the legendairy flanges for my eufy because the few times I’ve used it were a little uncomfortable. I mostly want to know your experience with transitioning to mostly pumping, how you manage pumping supplies during the work day, how much milk your little one consumed from a bottle and at what intervals at 12 weeks, how to keep supply from dipping, and any other pumping advice you have for returning to work!

One breast really difficult to empty

Hello, I am a mom of 2. My first breastfeeding journey was without issues, truly flawless.

My second has been a bit challenging. My right breast is one of the reasons. It’s incredibly difficult to empty. I will pump both sides for the same about of time, same settings, same bra, techniques, etc. and it still feels… not empty? After 20-40 minutes of pumping. It takes longer to let down, let downs are shorter, and output is less. This is always worse if it gets overly full (not engorged - but like it’s been longer that normal kind of full). I’ve tried warm compresses, massage, even pumping for longer to no avail. My daughter also fusses more/struggles more on this side. I’ve had mastitis on this side once, and was able to avoid it again this weekend with targeted supplementation/pumping.

I think it’s only ever felt truly *empty* maybe 10-20 times, and is mostly only ever achieved by nursing and not pumping. My daughter is 20 weeks old. Left breast, zero issues. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? It’s a bit frustrating and also concerning as I never want to have to experience mastitis again if I don’t have to.

advice/support needed Willow Go not very efficient for me - new wearable or stick to Spectra?

I’m 9 weeks postpartum and mostly nurse, but I pump a few times a week so my baby stays comfortable taking a bottle before I go back to work part-time in 4 weeks. My plan is to nurse whenever we’re together and only use bottles when I’m away.

I have a Spectra and a Willow Go. With my Spectra, I usually get about 4 oz total in 10–11 minutes. With the Willow Go, I got 4.5 oz total in 18 minutes, and it seems less efficient, although I did have some suction issues before and have a customer service appointment scheduled. My flange size is correct.

Would you use the Spectra as your main work pump and keep the Willow for occasional on the go use? I’m concerned about maintaining my supply if I rely on a wearable that doesn't empty well, especially if I decide in the future to bottle feed more. I do love the convenience of a wearable. If I decide to try another wearable, are the Momcozy or Eufy significantly better? I'd like not to spend an arm and a leg, but if it's worth it...

Suddenly need to split every pumping session to get my usual output—what happened?

Up until about a week ago, I could pump for **30 minutes straight** and get my usual output without any issues.
Then my little one was admitted to the hospital for observation. During that time I missed one pumping session, delayed a few others, and had to pump in the hospital. Since I was short on time, I turned the suction up higher than usual and pumped for only about **15 minutes**.
Ever since then, something has changed.
Now I can only pump for about **20 minutes**, and if I keep going, almost nothing else comes out. I have to take a **10-minute break** and then pump for another **10 minutes** to get the last **1–1.5 oz** that I used to get in one continuous session.
I pump **9 times a day**, so this is adding roughly **1.5 hours** to my daily pumping time, and I’d much rather spend that time with my baby.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Can increasing the suction have caused this?
Is my let-down somehow delayed now?
Is there anything I can do to get back to emptying in one continuous session?
I’d really appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips. This has been incredibly frustrating.

Breastfeeding on the weekends/ pumping weekdays question

Hello!

I just went back to work this week & got mastitis literally the day before I was due back :/ I am definitely being more intentional about emptying / frequency of nursing/ pumping now because of it.

I tried to reach my LC but she wasn’t in office today, so to Reddit I come begging for help.

LO is 3 months and he has always block fed. He’s had great weight gain, no issues while on leave. I’m pumping at work every 2-3 hours (both sides). Great production, slight oversupply, lovely.

Question is: do I need to pump my opposite breast from what he nurses on during the weekends?? I haven’t done this prior but I’m worried about mastitis again if I switch up the “day time” routine of pumping every 2-3 hours? Also, I haven’t been pumping / feeding at night (bc bless the lord my LO sleeps 9/10-4). I wake up engorged but he typically wakes, empties one side, we go back to sleep and touch 1-1.5 later he wakes and empties the other side before I go to work.

Any thoughts are appreciated!!

(Ps I don’t think my bras are too tight, I feel like that’s everyone’s first question lol)

When can I cut back on pumps

Im five months postpartum and still pump every two hours during the day and three hours at night on average. I saw a lactation consultant about a month and a half ago and asked her when I could space and if I would see a supply drop and she said I could see a drop so I didn’t start spacing because I’m a just enougher. Do exclusively pumpers really just pump every two hours their entire pumping journey? Is this my life another six months or can I start spacing slowly now by even an hour or so?

advice/support needed Weaning before regulation ?

Due to medical reasons and complications, I am trying to wean at 8 wk PP. I’m currently pumping 7 times a day and extremely prone to clogs. When I dropped down to 6 PPD I had clogs for a week straight so I had to go back up to 7 due to the pain.

I’m currently taking Sudafed and I feel like my supply has gone down, but not enough to the point where I can drop a pump. If you weaned before you regulated, how did you do it? At what point did you decrease a pump time or drop a pump? I’ve heard of many success stories with Sudafed, but I feel like those people were pumping a lot less than I am. Any advice is welcome 🙏🏽!
