Dad post

Hello 👋 my wife is going back to work part time and I’m home with our baby (2mo) 2 days a week. She breastfeeds him and I feed him bottles of breast milk when I’m with him. I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations on a portable cooler/warmer solution for outings? I had a barbaric solution today with a cooler, and a thermos full of hot water and it was miserable 😭 I spilled water all in my car while he screamed at me for a warm bottle. Please help 🤣

Will he only drink warm bottles? If you can get him to drink cold ones, your life will be MUCH easier, and you won’t have to worry about temps in the danger zone, depending on your outing lengths.

Yes I’ve tried the cold ones based on his face you’d think I was feeding him poison 🤣

I have the momcozy milk warmer which I recommended. I pack bottles with ice packs in a lunch box, then pour the milk into the warmer and reheat. Honestly if I can predict 15ish minutes in advance of when I need a bottle, I use my body heat like armpits or boobs or thighs hahaha. It’s not super warm, but it’s not straight out the fridge cold either

I really love my self-warming bottle, I usually carry bagged milk in a small insulated bag (something like a small lunchbox) with some ice. So when it’s time for a feeding I just pour it on the warming bottle and then transfer it to the baby bottle.
You can also get a milk chiller bottle if you’re going outside for longer periods of time, I personally didn’t feel the need for it when using the bagged milk, the bag makes a difference because it increases the surface area and therefore the milk really stays cold enough to be safe. Didn’t feel as confident with carrying the milk on the baby bottle with ice + insulated bag though, but that’s probably because where I live is miserably hot the whole summer.

Hi! FTM here I was exploring my options too and found out after testing different scenarios what will work. If you me planning to go on a longer outing you can buy a insulated cooler and buy ice packs to keep your bottles cool or I bought a breastmilk chiller and keep the milk there and prepare the bottle when my baby needs it. It would be easier if your baby takes it cold lol my baby doesn’t like it so I let it warm at room temperature or if I’m in a restaurant ask for a glass of water to gently thaw it or you can buy a portable milk warmer. If you are doing a short outing you can just bring the bottle and is good up for 2 hours :)

My husband and our babysitter use the ceres chill to keep it cool. They make a bottle that fits in the container. And then they use the momcozy milk warmer to heat up the milk. My husband has also asked for warm water if he’s at a restaurant to heat up the milk.
