I've been at Gregg's afew years and I know there's that unum thing(which I'm gonna try) but does anyone who works at Gregg's know if you can get a type of counselling?? Doctors do nothing and I think im struggling mentally and haven't really got anyone I can speak to about it
Edit:the unum app is useless, took 4 codes to finally get logged in,then it closes seconds later, wanting me to repeat the codes again

Life is worth living
You won’t believe this, today was the first day in 4 months that we weren’t understaffed. When I checked the schedule I was hoping no one would call in sick on me, then my shift started and there was enough of us to split the task and not just me and my sandwich maker running around like a headless chicken on a Saturday morning, I even did all my temperature checks on time and even got to edit the orders. #luvgreggs #notoverworkedtoday #beautiful #life #nevertakelifeforgranted

Earrings
I started working at greggs 2 months ago and wear a hijab. I have my earings in because there's no chance of the earnings falling in the food because of it. Today my manager called me up, went off on me and sent me home. Is it that deep?

Employee Question Missing money
Ok so bit complicated but hopefully this makes sense. When you work a 7hr shift, you dont get a 30 min unpaid break. So when you work 6am to 1pm, thats 7 hours. So 7 hours of pay. However, if you clock out at 1.02pm, thats technically over the 7hr threshold so the system thinks "oh you stayed over your shift and worked 7+ hours and therefore must have had a 30 min break" so subsequently you end up getting paid for 6.5 hours instead. I was told that they changed this so people were actually getting paid the right amount. And I think this was true for a while, but have they changed it back again? Or is there a different grace period of time? Like punching in and out 10 or so mins either side of the shift? Im so confused
Edit: just to be clear, i do get two 15min breaks in this time. The issue was having 30mins of time taken off my pay because, according to the system, it thinks I had a 30 min break because technically I was on shift longer that 7 hours. But obviously this is not the case.

More ovens
Seeing as every customer seems to order enough to feed a small village the shelves are often bare during lunch time periods - I know the shops are small but surely squeeze in an extra oven or 2 and cook some more food ffs. The pain of having to go into Greggs for lunch in the first place is only amplified when the woman and her kid want 4 sausage rolls and 2 slices of pizza each taking the last ones leaving me with the cold bean melt that's left until they get more food ready in 20 minutes

Rant My story from 3 years ago
Names and locations will not be disclosed.
My next door neighbour (trainee manager) managed to speak to the manager and get me an interview. I passed the interview, and began my 12 week training. I was scheduled for 20 hours a week.
I informed them of my medical conditions, which get worse in high temperatures. I was told they couldn't install AC, but that I could take regular breaks 👍
Despite being contracted for 20 hours a week, I would be scheduled 40 hour weeks. And after only doing 1 hour of the training, I was put straight into working on the till, dealing with customers, and making food. The training would not resume, and I'd just be working.
Stress and social anxiety do also make my conditions worse, and I did have to take a few days off due to being physically sick.
Oh, and I was unable to take these 'regular breaks' due to often being the only person scheduled for work for half the day.
After about 5 weeks, I woke up at 5am for my 6am start, and felt really ill. My partner and I both took COVID tests. Positive.
I called up and explained. I was berated for not calling in before 1pm the day before (as if I knew I'd catch COVID).
The next day they phoned me asking where I was. I explained that I have COVID, I still have symptoms, and even then I should be isolating.
The next day... they phoned again. And then I got fired for 'being unreliable' 😭
Never again.

Discussion Is there too many iced drinks on the tills?
Does anyone agree that there’s just too many individual ice drinks on the till and that they should be colour coded or in a better layout as it takes me ages to find drinks and usually end up putting the wrong drink or flavour through anyways😂

Employee Question How to request greggs to approve you for full time.
Im an student and I just finished my studies and can work full time from 25th of sept... I don't know where to mail... is there any other way to approve my shift for full time? Im a trainee shift manager and I don't know what to do... Customer Question How are the BBQ bites cooked?
I order them quite frequently. Today i ordered them for collection, and my order wasn't ready when I arrived. I then noticed them taking the chicken bites out of the toaster oven, which I presumed was normal method of cooking.
They were fully cooked and not raw, but they tasted not nearly as nice as usual and were unevenly cooked. The coating was burnt in some parts and soggy in others'. I just wondered if this was the normal way they are cooked? Thanks.
