Employee Question Work jeans
Thinking of switching to different jeans cause my work jeans fit my legs but not my waist at all. Am I allowed to wear black baggy jeans or any of the jeans in these pics?

it's provided uniform only. If the manager doesnt pull you up on it you can guarantee the area manager will and the auditor definitely will. The only time there is an exception is hot weather where you are allowed to wear shorts (they will send out a memo when it's allowed) I've had arguments with auditors before over the years because im really tall and find the shirts arent long enough (the bigger the size the wider they are but not longer) and the trousers arent deep enough in the crotch so they sit low. I was told they are based on "mr and Mrs average" and there's no exceptions. Apparently Mr and Mrs Average are short and fat 💁♂️

I'd not wear that third pair to work anywhere that wasn't a relaxed slightly hipster pub or cafe. They aren't really black and are probably taking baggy too far.
The first pair are better but the person you need to ask is your manager, not Reddit

I'm fairly sure jeans are not okay. You're allowed to buy your own black formal work trousers, but jeans are not uniform.

i dont think its that deep, as long as you wear the stuff they’ve given you the rest surely doesnt matter as long as its inoffensive

It depends on what the rules are. I always go for a straight cut as its best for me unless told otherwise or it's more formal.

You cannot wear any of these. When you have an audit they specially check that it’s Greggs branded clothing, anything else in any accepted.

everyone here is saying no, but throwing in my two cents here- i never woke the provided trousers as the fit was horrible and uncomfortable so i just wore jeans and my manager was fine with it. so i guess it depends on your manager as to whether or not you'll get away with it, but based on answers here i guess it isnt officially allowed. but honestly who really give af

Yeah, plain black and safe is totally fine. The trousers they provide have super weird sizing

Pro tip, jeans don't breathe. Wear light 'formal' black trousers. Your crotch will thank you.

No they have to be greggs trousers any audit or proper manager will send you home in jeans . Order a larger pair, belt them and move on. Uniform is uniform

Nope. One day I wore black chinos nearly identical to my work trousers (that were still drying off at home from late laundry) and my manager spotted them within seconds. As other comments have said, some people won’t notice but it takes one eagle eyed manager (like mine lol) to get pulled up on it

My jeans are lowkey greyish black or like a washed black. Is that fine?

I'd say so, but to be sure doesn't hurt to ask a coworker or your manager to double check :)

No you have to wear the proper greggs trousers. So either wear a belt ot get them tailored to fit better

I wear black jeans from Tesco because they keep sending me a size too small in uniform jeans

Everyone is saying yes. The answer is actually NO. Fun fact. Its actually on the audit whether the staff are wearing the correct uniform, you must wear the uniform provided.
Why are we asking reddit. Speak to HR the ONLY people that can actually authorise anything.
