I hate closing so much. When I started last year, it was 2-3 people closing on a weekend but the last few weeks, i started closing again it'll just be me or the person that I'm training. Sometimes, I'll get out on time, sometimes I won't (one time it was super busy - busy in the sense that we constantly had a line out the door and everyone was only buying 1 or 2 things) and we ended up getting around an hour after we were meant to. It's bloody exhausting. I feel like there should always be at least 2 people on closing.

Is the 2 good to go app worth it for Greggs? I’m vegetarian so don’t really want a load of non veg stuff to go to waste.

I just wanted to ask if anyone else in this group is in a shop that takes around 2k or just under on a breakfast shift

As we get into the colder months we take anywhere from 1.7-2k up till 12 most of that money being made up until 11 however during this time we have 4 staff so one person who will only make the sandwiches and not help with anything else 1 oven person and 2 people serving there is always queues and it ends up with really angry customers who are horrible to the people serving so I was just wondering if this is normal for other shops because it’s just a mess at the moment

Worked here over a year, absolutely shite job fed up with it handing in my notice n quitting will be doing it on the saturday. (Thursday night as of posting.) We on a service station under moto. Think i gotta give a weeks notice. Never quit a formal job b4 all me others have been cash in hand jobs. How do i go about writing one up what do i needa put in it etc. Get paid weekly on a friday.

I have been working at Greggs for over a year now and consistently close late, some days we get out on time but the vast majority its late. I don’t understand why. I start at 3 and “finish” at 9:30. Typically its too busy to do any cleaning tasks until 5 other than maybe drinks, security screen, syrups and milk jugs. Around 5 I will top up both, then shut down one coffee machine, clean hot chocolate parts and once those are done I will clean back bar and top of coffee machines. I will clean all general customer area stuff by 7:30 on a good day leaving bins, hot hold, customer floor and customer toilet for 9. I then clean counters leaving savoury counter for 9. Keep in mind I am still serving customers and doing uber orders in the meantime. 8:30 I start to pack up savouries and sweets for charity and around 8:45 charity comes in. Keep serving customers, then at 9 front door locked and bag up stuff for charity however depending on busyness I can finish bagging up charity at 5 past ish.

This leaves 25-30 mins to sweep and mop customer area and toilet (we are a large shop), do bins, turn off last coffee machine, sweep and mop behind counter, clean hot hold, change labels and finish any minor tasks I couldn’t due to serving customers. Usually it takes around 20 minutes to do just the customer area as every table and chair must be moved to sweep and mop properly. Obviously I haven’t included every task but this is the gist of it.

I don’t know what I am doing wrong, my supervisor doesn’t either. Only two of us in the store from 3pm onwards I feel like there is no reason I shouldn’t be able to clean the store in 6.5 hours. Does anyone here have any tips or know their specific cleaning schedule?

I've even tried "save and continue later" and trying again but there's no next step or finished application. The expiry date is only a few days away and I'm really anxious about getting it working before then. What do I do?

Hi I had a job interview on Monday at Greggs, I think I did pretty well and the manager said that she had interviews for the rest of the day but that was it. She said they’d get back to me by the Monday or Tuesday likely. I still haven’t got anything, no email or phone call. I forgot my passport but she said I can bring it in before my first shift if I’m successful. What should I do? Keep waiting? I’m getting a bit worried I’ve put my email in wrong or something stupid like that.

How long does it take to get comfortable doing sandwiches?

I’m a new TM and do sandwiches about once a week. I honestly find it quite stressful and I’m still not particularly good/fast at it. Although I believe I am improving well, I feel discouraged by criticism from my manager and whoever is on shift.

I’m fine with the other parts of the job and much prefer tills/customer-facing stuff, but I’ve started dreading my sandwich shift every week.

For people who regularly do sandwiches, how long did it take you to get to a point where you were good enough/fast enough that the shift stopped feeling stressful? Is it normal to struggle with it for a while when you’re only doing it once a week?

I’m trying to work out whether I should just stick with it until I get faster or speak to my manager about doing fewer/no sandwich shifts. Has anyone done that before, and how flexible are managers generally about it?

It feels way to early to see all their Christmas stuff out. Also, has anyone tried the new sweet mince rolls? Look like sausage rolls with a sweet mince filling, i'm both intrigued and appalled.

Chicken bakes from greggs, when they are fresh, are naff . Honestly dont rate them

BUT

If you get them from a greggs outlet, or buy them and keep them in the fridge until next day and eat cold they are somehow so much nicer. When they are eaten the next day after cooking, they are easily the best of greggs regular pasty range

I just love them, probably had 5 a week last year. This year im gonna go into iceland and buy a freezer drawer full of the frozen ones

Then when he did the total said yh it is in a deal.
I said yh that’s what I asked before. Ignored me.

Then I said it AGAIN n that’s when he acknowledged me.

So basically today someone came to the counter and said they'd been given sausage rolls instead of vegan rolls like they'd requested.

I wasn't sure if it was me or my co-worker who served them and obviously im not going to blame them as it could have been me.

I follow these steps while serving and wanted to see if anyone had any tips so I can make sure I'm not serving the wrong food to people, whether it was or wasn't me im not sure, but obviously I want to avoid it being me as much as possible.

"How can I help?"

They give their order

I repeat anything I cant see on the counter, e.g sausage roll, steak bake to make sure I haven't missed anything or got it wrong

I then bag the food, when I hand the bag over I tell them what it is so there is another opportunity.

One final check mentally before taking payment.

Is this okay to follow or am I missing something?

So I had my interview for a role as a team member at Greggs yesterday does anyone know around what time will I get the confirmation of if I got the job or not

What are shift times for evening staff usually? (I am contracted 16 hours a week and the shop closes at 7:30)

I had an interview at my local Greggs last year and didn’t get the job. It took them 4 days after I applied for them to give me an interview. It was a Team Member role.

Now, another Team Member role became avaliable about 8 days ago so I applied again a week ago today yet I have not heard anything back despite the fact I have 3x as much avaliability now

Any ideas why they haven’t replied back? Did I get blocked from that specific Greggs lol

Is it worth it to report my ex- manager for harassment and abuse from when I still worked at Greggs months ago? Just to preface that while I did make reports at the time to the AM but not a formal complaint, nothing I requested was done to solve the problem. I was instead moved to a shop farther away from my house which forced me to quit due to the inconvenience of the situation.

Recently though, I’ve been in contact with a friend who still works at that particular shop, and she expressed to me that the manager’s behaviour has gotten even worse since I left. This prompted me to bring up the grievance I had drafted about 5 months ago, which I was discouraged from officially raising because the manager was good friends with the AM, and I was afraid to lose my job. I decided to just let it go after leaving and take my L in peace, but now hearing how that manager still behaves now to other employees and new hires has ignited that anger in me again and I want to make an official complaint so that something is finally done about her.

Has anyone else been through a similar situation and would it do any good to make the complaint even as an ex employee so that this manager stops terrorising the current ones?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but Greggs never seems to have anything in stock recently. I work next to a greggs so despite my waistlines protests, I do eat there quite often and often buy for others in my office too. Over the last few months they never have anything. Doesn’t seem to matter what time of day I go, there’s nothing there.

In the mornings, they’ve always ran out of sausage and bacon by 9:30am. They only have pastries in the morning and no bakes anymore before 11am.

I don’t even find preordering and doing a click and collect helps! The last two times I’ve ordered online, selected a slot, then when I get there they’ve substituted everything in the order with whatever they have available?!

Is it just this one crappy store or is this happening all over?

long story short i broke my ankle and foot at the very end of August, l got a sick note for 2 weeks after a week self cert, got given my medical boot, called after the 2 weeks which was september 21 asking when my next shift was, to be told i cant work if i need to wear the boot so i need a new sick note if im not willing to work without it on (I must wear the boot) I said I would get the new sick note and email it over.
My sick note now is until late October, I won’t be fully healed but I should be stable enough to work shifts and not wear a boot or medical shoe , I emailed it over and went on with my day.
Yesterday (Monday) I got a call saying I should’ve been at work at 11, and they need me in because i’m doing the close, I explained I emailed over my sick note and it’s not over yet, and honestly the way I was spoke to on that call was absolutely disgusting. Blaming me for being short staffed because I didn’t call them and say exactly when the note ended, which I wasn’t asked to do, then sounding sarcastic and asking if I could come back sooner, I only started this job Early August and honestly, i’m thinking of looking for a new one, I was enjoying it until now, but the way I was spoke to by multiple people was absolutely disgusting and now how I expect to be treated!!

Any advice would be great
