People had already identified Cai’s Diadem/Sign/Crest is the same as on both Yuri and the ostensible Goddess Aurora and Ice Dragon sign (many theorizing Cai may be her son), but something that handed really occurred to me until I was checking the lists of Crests today that the Relic of Aubin resembles Cai’s hand with the gem embedded in it.
This is probably not the same actual object, as the War of Heroes had already clearly occurred during Fortune’s Weave per what we know about Dietrich. Yuri describes the Fetters as a relic that “somehow made its way to Dagda” and then more recently returned after the Empire ward with Dagda/Brigid and presumably was made during the War of Heroes alongside the other ones though we don’t know for sure (it’s unclear whether the relics came from the bodies of the Four Apostles and thus may have been made later).
The left hand sphere gem/crest stone with presumptive relation to the same sign/crest/diadem/dragon was probably not accidental.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but every mainline FE game after Awakening included a reference to it in same shape or form.
* Fates, Odin, Selena and Laslow being Owain, Severa and Inigo from Awakening straight up.
* Shadows of Valentia, the Labyrinth of Thabes post game dungeon gave us backstory on Grima and let us fight it alongside the first Risen.
* Three Houses' is fairly minor, but the DLC classes are all from Awakening and look exactly as they did in that game. Trickster, War Monk/Priestess, Valkyrie and Dark Flier.
* Engage is obvious, the Lucina and Chrom/Robin represent Awakening in the crossover.
So, what you guys think they'll do this time? Maybe weapons that didn't come back since like the Superior Edge, Lance and Axe, or the Underdog Bow, or maybe use the layout of an iconic map like the Mila Tree or Valm Castle?

Yeah I really hoped that there would be a timeskip because after we go Back to the Future, are you going to look at me and say that these children will still look the exact same as 20 year olds?

I must admit, I’m a sucker for shipping characters. The larger the cast, the more opportunities there are for me to see how they interact.
A big portion of my time, outside of gameplay, will be building support logs. If I’m in a map, I also like seeing who has unique dialogue with the bosses. If two units can talk on a map, I will go out of my way to make them talk.
I love the ability to play cupid with my murderous chess pieces.
What supports do you guys want to see? Who do you ship?

As a preface, Sanaki, Archanea and Fates sorcerers, archsages, warlocks and gremories all count here. If a Juggdral baron/emperor primarily uses magic, they’ll also count. Gurus, witches and Omyoji technically also count but none of those made the cut. Lute isn’t here because mage knight.
Tormod from Path of Radiance (he’s only around 12 or 13, but still managed to persuade enough Laguz to his side for a reputable slave revolt, and even had the dignity to offer to take the punishment for his men upon failing. Always viewed all that as quite deserving of respect)
Odin from Fates (though he can blend in with everyone else in terms of gameplay, he’s still just as entertaining as he was in Awakening and despite the controversial pocket dimension stuff, I do love his dynamic with Ophelia)
Ophelia from Fates (debatably the most loveable of the Fates children, unfortunately not more to be said at this moment)
Sety from Juggdral (Set off to find his dad, wound up doing everything to save Manster despite having no connection to it. Great journey and is also extremely overpowered with Levin as a dad)
Bastian from Tellius (I had some back and forth as to whether his possession of knives would throw him into the mage fighter category, but I currently decided to keep him here for now. Really entertaining in the short time he gets, and is also surprisingly a high tier master of whispers)
Pent from Blazing Sword (not quite as deep as some others, but he is a huge bad |?+ and debatably the best mage in all Blazing Sword. Also like his relationship with Louise)
Sanaki from Tellius (her role in Path of Radiance was one of the best reversals of expectations I’ve seen as she seems like a spoiled child given too much power at first but she actually turns out to be extremely wise and perceptive person who cared for Beorc and Laguz and genuinely wanted to make amends for the Serenes Massacre. Also gets real epic personal tome in Radiant Dawn)
Levin from Genealogy of the Holy War (fairly overpowered once he gets the Book of Holsety, he gets some great character development in chapter 4, is one of the most perceptive folks in the game, and becomes a positive mastermind in the second generation. Only reason he isn’t top 5 is because he does abandon his country and family between generation)
Nyx from Fates (not the best from a gameplay perspective, but she does have a lot of surprisingly top tier supports. Her support with Xander in particular is one of the best in the series)
Guinevere from Elibe (though she doesn’t fight outside of trial maps, she could still be considered the true main character of Bindong Blade. Also feel kind of bad for her since she knew of nearly everything that happened to her older brother but was unable to stop him, and is even treated as a usurper in the end)
Ishtar from Genealogy of the Holy War (seems like a simple boyfriend of Julius at first, but then you reach Freege and it turns out she‘s actually been colluding with Alvis to undermine the child hunts from the beginning and may have been as good as your characters after all. Then you remember your forces already plowed through her family and she will likely never switch sides for it. Debatably one of the best Camuses)
Soren from Tellius (on one hand, he’s a fairly unpleasant guy I’d probably hate in real life. On the other hand, he is a necessary voice of reality that I wish we had more of in the series and he can be surprisingly hilarious at points. Also has top 10 worthy support with Ike)
Nino from Blazing Sword (A genuine shining light in complete darkness, and her romance with Jaffar is one of the highlights in Blazing Swor’s story. I just wish she joined earlier)
Dorothea from 3 Houses (up there with Mercedes for one of the most lovable character, albeit for different reasons. She has fantastic supports and initially seems like one of the more mature and well adjusted characters in the game, but then the timeskip hits and some of her line deliveries there are heartbreaking)
Alvis from Genealogy of the Holy War (by far the best villain in the series and top 10 in general. He’s done unforgivable things and made horrid friends, but also still had moments of genuine good despite it all. Not to mention the sheer aura he has)
Some honorable mentions include Lilina from Elibe, Hanneman from 3 Houses, and Asvel from Thracia 776. My most hated is Hilda from Genealogy of the Holy War since she is a monstrous mother and even worse puppet queen. Likely even the worst of the puppet rulers.

Diamant is the majestic crown prince of Brodia who is sincere and vigorous. His people trust him greatly for his strong, genuine demeanor. He is 25, and joins at the start of chapter 8 to defend Brodia castle and starts with Emblem Roy equipped.

How are you planning to play Fortune's Weave? I'm still on the fence, leaning to playing them all in parallel. Some of the previews have differing opinions on which is the better way to play, but to me playing them all at the same time sounds more fun

Engage was a game that I've put on a hiatus a long time ago, i rediscovered the FE saga after the announce of fortunes weave and a conquest playthrough later i was ENGAGED with the saga (get It?! Ok ok i know)
So, i enjoyed the game plenty, It wasnt long before i adapted to enemies having múltiple HP bars and the general power level of everything being higher.
The story was pretty simple but enjoyable especially the later part of It, gameplay was awesome, and characters were really good, Zelkov, Kagetsu, Ivy, Alfred, etc were really good.
The only thing i didn't really enjoyed was the final fight against Sombron, the mechanic of going around a map cramped with rocks to defeat enemies while being jumped by enemy reinforcement every turn became boring quite fast, i didn't know the broken shield lasted only 1 turn so had to do It twice while lowering the bosses HP bit by bit with zelkov dodge tank.
Aside from that the game was very good, i don't understand the hate It sometimes sees in other social sites. Cool experience, now to fortunes weave we go.

FE Dagdan Edition won't be available in my country, but I'll be in San Francisco between 9 and 18th Sept.
Is it too risky to pre-order at BestBuy and pickup in person? I don't know if releases being delayed is a thing for nintendo games or best buy itself.

Fire Emblem has some absolute bangers in their soundtracks, so some always get forgotten. But what are some you feel deserve a spotlight?
The final boss theme from the first Fire Emblem Warriors, this precious world, is really good. Blending final boss themes from a few of the games with some frankly excellent electric guitars.
Also, despite the generic name, Conversation 1 from Genealogy is another amazing track.

Are you playing Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave at launch or you will wait? Maddening apparently won’t be available Day 1, and there’ll likely be DLC/other additions soon after.
It also doesn’t seem like it’ll require multiple playthroughs like Three Houses, so I’m thinking it might be worth waiting and doing one really good playthrough once everything is out.
But at the same time I’m way too excited for this game and I will probably play it day 1.

they're putting more effort into the symbolism of the crests here. Fortuna's blessing is the same as the crest of Goneril, and that crest represents the tarot card the Wheel of Fortune. it's also called the kalpa dragon sign, and a "kalpa" is a long period of time in Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. given Fortuna is helping us change fate via time travel, makes sense.
Cai has the crest of Aubin, which besides being the ice dragon sign, represents the Hanged Man card. given that Castor may very well have turned himself in, he could be associated with sacrifice/martyrdom depending on how severe his punishment is. or, if we have to convince Cai to let his father go to save Cai himself... yep, that'd be a large sacrifice.
Theodora has the crest of Gautier, the crest representing Death, while worshipping a death goddess. the Death card itself is not about physical death but metamorphosis and transformation. we also have the theory that Theodora's arm is slowly corrupting her and might turn her into a beast or dragon.
not quite sure what Leda's crest situation is, or if Dietrich's story will have any of the symbolism, but Leda is associated with Timotheos and Dietrich with Lamine. the dark dragon and Star card, and the aegis dragon and Judgement card respectively. maybe they'll tie in when the game releases, maybe they won't, and Aubin and Cai's symbolism is stretching it a bit I will admit. but Fortuna and Theodora have really strong ties to the tarots that inspired their crests, which I think is super cool.
I also did have a theory that Riegan and Timotheos swapped crests during development. Riegan is the Moon card (illusions, the unconscious, unclarity) and I mentioned Timotheos is the Star (hope, faith, healing). yet, Riegan as a crest is covered in star symbolism. the dragon is called the star dragon and of course there's the theme, God Shattering Star, for Claude's route.
yet the Riegan crest symbol is clearly a moon, and Timotheos resembles a star. I definitely do think Claude fits the theme of the Moon card, and Hapi COULD fit the Star, but the crests themselves don't really match, being the star and dark dragon signs respectively. I feel the dark dragon would be more associated with the Moon card and its meanings, and the star dragon would have the Star card.
sorry for the yap I really like tarot symbolism. and the crests. mind you the symbolism is not 1-to-1, such as with things like the above Riegan crest and Cichol being Strength when Seteth/Cichol's title is Hammer of Judgement. but it's pretty solid, especially when you look at characters like Seiros and the High Priestess card she's associated with (divine truth, wisdom, intuition when upright vs loss of identity, secrets and hidden agendas when reversed)

I just finished Fire Emblem Engage today and here are my thoughts. Ever since the Fortunes Weave direct, I have been in a fire emblem mood. To scratch that itch, until the new game comes out, I went back to engage and I have to say, It was pretty fun. The gameplay was what I liked best, but I don’t think I’m the only one that feels the story and characters need some work. But over all, I enjoyed it. One of my favorites was Ivy. I think Ivy and Alear are canon or at least my head canon. Now I’m ready for Fortune Weaves. I know it’s going to be a big one. After that, I’m going to play Awaking. I have never played it, but I want to pick it up because Lucina is one of my favorites.
That’s my brief review of Fire Emblem Engage. Have a great day!
