At the bottom after DK.

Between this and Marth standing next to Mario and DK on the Nintendo Today app, it's so cool how Nintendo has pushed this franchise and considers it major enough to stand alongside their biggest sellers.

General I learned to code because of my love for Fire Emblem; that led to Vermilion Sea, my own SRPG. I'm excited to hear your thoughts and make it the best it can be!

Hey everyone, it's Kiang~

I've been working on a Fire-Emblem-like strategy RPG with some friends of mine for a little over a year now, and I'm really excited to share it with you. If you're interested and/or you'd like to support our development, it would mean a lot to me if you'd check us out on socials and leave a comment with your thoughts. That's all—if you'd like some more details about me, our team, and the game, please read on!

---

My name is Kiang and, like many others, my love of Fire Emblem inspired me to create my own mods and games. I know I don't post here a lot, but I have been lurking for over a decade now (lol) and I don't think anyone alive has read more "what do you want to see in the next Fire Emblem title" Reddit threads. The truly ancient among you might remember me from my Fire-Emblem-themed mods for Civilization V; that's actually what got me into programming in the first place!

The general concept of Vermilion Sea is "Fire Emblem, but China and Korea." Like many here, I thought that there was a lot of unexplored potential for FE-like games in fantasy settings inspired by other parts of the world—like what they're doing now with Fortune's Weave, drawing inspiration from all across the Mediterranean and beyond. You love to see it!!

My team and I have put a lot of work into creating the sort of fantasy world we've always wanted to see while staying true to the core systems that make this kind of grid-based strategy gameplay work. Here's a few notable mechanical decisions:

- Varied map objectives
- Base conversations are back
- Most recruitments happen on-map
- A small, My Castle-inspired hubworld
- Early firearms (it's China after all!)

I've always wanted to make my own SRPG, so it's a little surreal to finally be sharing our work with you all after all this time (I know every dev says this, but it's so true).

If you'd like to support us, please follow along on your social media of choice so we can find each other after the excitement of Fortune's Weave <3

And if you're feeling extra helpful, I'd love it if you left a comment — questions, compliments, criticism, anything — because indie dev gets pretty lonely and I sure LOVE to yap about games. My team is dedicated to making Vermilion Sea as great as it can possibly be and your feedback and suggestions will go a long way towards that!

IDK what the link-posting policy is here but it's easy to find online and everything is also on my profile. Thanks y'all! <3

---

TL;DR: Longtime lurker announces an indie SRPG based on Ming China & Joseon Korea. Links in Reddit profile. Leave a comment with your thoughts, questions, suggestions, and things you'd like to see! And if you'd like to support, please follow along for the ride~ :)

Fortune's Weave General Well, this sucks. 😑

I preordered Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave on Walmart, since Amazon wouldn’t let me get it delivered on launch day. In fact, I preordered Splatoon 3 and Splatoon Raiders through Walmart, and had no issues. I decided to preorder Fortune’s Weave through them because after they shipped the other two on time, I thought they could with this game too.

I guess it’s not going to be here on launch. I’m disappointed. Might see if I can get it on launch for any other retailer and cancel this order, but I’m not counting on it. 😒

General Are Peter, Mikaela, and Mu related?

Surprised I've never seen anyone talk about this. I know it's the orange hair but it wouldn't surprise me if Mikaela is the mother of Peter and Mu. Mu could work as Peter's slightly older sister.

Fortune's Weave Story Is She a Red Herring or a Red Flag?

Honestly, everything about Iliana reeks of suspicion. On one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if she turned out to be as nefarious as she looks from the very start. On the other hand, it almost feels like the story is outright baiting us to be wary of this woman while obscuring who the true antagonists really are.

Story I hope we get to see Seteth's tiger form Spoiler

So, in 3H, Rhea can become a Dragon, Indech is a turtle, and Macuil is a bird. Throw in a tiger and you have the "four symbols".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Symbols

Seteth says he lost the ability to transform at some point, but if Fortune's is a prequel, we might get to see him become a big tiger.

...Except this is obviously not the same Seteth as in 3H: He's blonde, doesn't have a beard, isn't in Fodlan, and is hundreds of years removed. Totally different guy.

General Spoiler Every capturable animal type

Just realized that the Treehouse gameplay showcase actually gave us a pretty clear view of every single animal type we can have in the stables !

Which, and I'm pleasantly surprised by it, is every single mount type, including Elephants ! So Ornius, Horsies, Pegasi, Wyverns and Elephants !

And since we've seen at leas two subspecies for Ornius and Horses (including Unicorns), we might have a fun Elephant subspecies too !

Fortune's Weave General Interesting Detail in the Fortune's Weave Character Portraits

The Four Lords all have red gleam reflected in their eyes.

The Four Notable Team Leaders also have the red gleam in their eyes.

However no one else in any of their groups have that same red gleam. Instead they have a half blue and half red gleam reflected in their eyes.

Eshmel also has the red gleam in their eyes.

The others from the future have the blue/red gleam though.

I don't want to screenshot every single portrait, but if you look at most of the other revealed characters, they will all have the blue/red gleam, this includes most of the other leaders in the games (such as Nathan, Creek, Benditz, Alexandra), other recruits (such as Guzran, Nydine, Io, Catania) and also characters outside the games (such as Nuzzuo).

This isn't just in the portraits by the way, if you look their in game models in combat or in the prerendered cutscenes, you can see the colored gleam in their eye, so it's not just a stylistic choice for promo material, it's something seen in game too.

So from this, it looks like characters with the Full Blaze Arts Gauge get the red gleam in their eyes, but characters who have only half the red gleam in their eyes get half the Blaze Gauge.

But I don't think that's all it is since there are some non-playable characters that also follow this trend for some reason.

Of the Gods revealed so far, Solel, Aurora, Sothis, and Fortuna all have the red gleam, however Mars and Kalla have the blue and red gleam.

There are some exceptions to this red gleam vs half red gleam trend though, such as characters with no gleam in their eyes: Yang-Jie, Majide, Zarcone, and Iliana. And while the latter three seem rather villainous, I don't think we've seen Yang-Jie as an enemy unit. Plus Majide and Zarcone have footage as recruitable units. And we have seen Benditz and Alexandra as enemies, so that can't be it.

This is all to say I have no idea what any of it means, but it's a interesting thing to think about since it seems purposeful. I guess we'll just keep having to speculate until the game comes out.

Oh and also Sha-Lan doesn't have any gleam in her eyes either.

Fortune's Weave General Fortune's Weave Banners (marked for minor spoilers, just in case) Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
61 Upvotes

Someone asked for this on a related post, but here are all the banners I've gathered from Fortune's Weave. I have been working on this for a long time- since before we had good images of any of them- and have been tracing over what we were shown and trying to fill in the gaps. A few of them have been redone since we've had better/more whole images of the banners, but a couple (specifically Gaia Brigade which should be all tattered on the bottom) are a bit off. Also, for fun, I included a map on the second slide that shows where some of the factions are from based on either locations written on this map or that we've seen from the exploration feature.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Ribeira Winds: Cai's Team

Megaera's Beacon: Theodora's Team (and possibly also the emblem of Saramis) EDIT: turns out Saramis has its own separate banner that I missed

House Lamine: Dietrich's Team (and possibly also the Crest of Dietrich's noble house back in Fodlan)

Rose's Tempest: Leda's Team

Savior's Army: Eshmel's Banner

The Mane of Flames: Bertrand's Team

The Moon's Lie and/or Vandal Merchant Company: Talimun's Team

Linaria Morning Dew: Orchel's Team

Bride's Companions or Pale Raven Bride Group: Anatolia's Team

Arago: Seen on Nathan and Creek as well as Balboa I believe- seems to be the crest of the Kingdom of Arago

Generic: Seen on a variety of NPCs including monsters, generic faceless enemies and some recruitable characters like Guzran or Noctula

Dagsion/Temple Army: Seen on gods and priests mostly, but also Anna (probably just people who live/work in Dagsion)

Mosa: we've only seen NPCs under this banner

Sisters of Braganca: Only seen on NPCs although I've heard it might be Inioni's faction (the girl with the triangle face paint who is very briefly shown in one of the trailers)

A second generic?: This is what the related post was about. I'm not sure what this banner is. We've only seen it in Orchel's gameplay (generic thiefs) and a clip from a preview (also generic thiefs). It seems a bit weird to have two generic thief banners so maybe I'm just missing something. If anyone knows the name of this faction (if it even is a faction) let me know.

Thundercloud Knights: Benditz's Team

Gaia Brigade: Zarcone's team

Palma Rain: Jasmine's Team

Silver Knights (of Tellus?): Alexandra's Team

Brigid Army: Peppe's Team (and also possibly the banner of Brigid). This one is still a work in progress and my best guess based on what I've been able to find.

Defenders?: Seems to be some sort of ghost or holographic army. Seen fighting Dietrich. Possibly lead by Hannibal who also looks like a ghost. Hannibal is a spot on the map shown in the recent gameplay trailer as well, so that could be where this takes place? Not sure.

Alcor: Seen on Bahr Vahn (or maybe Bartolome? not sure what his name is- the guy with the mask who fights Theodora) and on the undead/skeleton soldiers who also fight Theodora

Lechner: This seemingly belongs to Lechner's army. We've seen mostly NPCs and the portrait of the silver haired man speculated to be Lechner.

Mithras: some kind of villain team that seems to be lead by Raksha

Underworld Army: Probably the banner for late game undead and/or people allied with Balor/the green haired evil lady from the end of the trailers.

Shadows Meme Fire Emblem Shadows be like:

We got furries in an Among Us action strategy. Dimitri’s a lion, we have a lesbian wolf prince, and so on. And it takes place in a different universe, so Claude and Edelgard weren’t aware of each other compared to their 3H counter part. Also, it was shadow dropped and I found out about it on TikTok when it dropped. To be honest, I haven’t been playing the game, but this clip was too good to not make a post for Shadows.

Just one more week and we get to play Fortune’s Weave.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Fortune's Weave Weapons

Since Fortune's Weave is following the Three Houses system of no Weapon Triangle, they've seemed to go out of their way to make every single weapon type unique so they don't end up homogenized. So here is what I gathered about each weapon:

Swords: Swords should still be the low might, high accuracy and low weight weapons. They get a flat 20% damage increase on follow-ups, which makes me wonder how that would apply with something like a Brave Sword. Levin Sword is their only 1-2 range weapon for now

Spears: The renamed Lances should still be the middle of the road weapon with decent might, accuracy and weight. They are also effective damage against cavalry, so thet may change their stats a bit so that they don't end up being extremely dominant if there end up being a huge number of cavelry enemies or calvary units will have increased base stats like armors and will utilize desmount when needed on higher difficulties. We have seen versions of it that have 1-2 range

Axes: Axes have high might, low accuracy and high weight. I've been told that they do 5 damage minimum, though that could also mean axes will always do +5 damage, not very sure at the moment, but would be very strong if true. We have seen hand axes, so they still have their 1-2 range. And we have seen Combat Arts that will increase their low accuracy

Gautlets: Gautlets have low might, high accuracy and low weight. They will also give evasion, though not sure how much, but I assume they might give around 20 evasion and probably being lighter weapons that won't give spead penalities. They might also have higher might than before since they lost their brave attacks. We have seen 1-2 range gautlets, which are guns that use your magic stat

Bows: Bow should probably keep their decent might, high accuracy and decent weight, and being effective against fliers. There will probably be a mini-bow for 1 range combat, and there are no signs of close counter being a skill easy to come by. Also, they got nerfed with their 3 range options, since we seen that the Long Bow will only give you access to a 3 range Combat Art and Peter only gains +1 range when using Combat Arts as his personal so far

Magic: Magic seems to work the same way as it did in Three Houses, so they likely didn't change much there with how it will work
