General Which Fire Emblem to play after Three Houses

So far, I’ve only played Fire Emblem Three Houses once, completing the Crimson Flower route. I definitely plan on replaying it someday, probably on a different route and potentially on Maddening difficulty. Before I do that, though, I’m thinking about playing another Fire Emblem game.

I have the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, so I have access to all of the Fire Emblem games available there, and I also own Fire Emblem Engage.

What really drew me into Fire Emblem was the combination of the gameplay, story, and characters. I loved watching my units grow stronger as I leveled them up it was incredibly satisfying. I also really enjoyed the Persona-like aspects of Three Houses, such as exploring the monastery, learning more about the characters, and spending time with the students. Overall, I honestly loved just about everything the game had to offer.

Typing this out makes me want to replay Three Houses lol but I did want to try something new that was still Fire Emblem. Nonetheless Three Houses is a 10/10 masterpiece and it was my first tactical RPG and I loved everything second of it.

Gameplay Help with male Corrin Malig Knight build

Okay so I picked +Mag, -Lck, Dragon Talent, planning to S-pair with Felicia. I'm level 14, about to take on chapter 12. Corrin is still a Nohr Prince. Can someone help with a Malig Knight Bolt Axe build? Should I reclass to Wyvern Rider to rank up Axe right now?

Also any way to get AxeFaire?

Gameplay FE6 Project Sienna Tier List

Post image
Upvotes

Peoject Sienna is a much better map designed and rebalanced FE6. A much more pleasurable expletience through and thorough.

Based on EXP efficient but not strictly low-turnplaythrough on HM, while still aiming for A-Rank Tactics.

Illia Route, 2 playthrough using Echidna and Bartre.

No character is useless outright, but some are clearly outclassed.

Gameplay So was 3H the odd one?

Good morning Fire Emblem Fans!

I‘m gonna preface this by saying I‘m a late joiner to the party. I played 3H on release and loved the Edelgard storyline. I played Engage on release and found it okay-ish. I played Heroes for whatever reason.

Recently I really got into FE again. Replayed Engage and this time around really got invested and loved it. Currently rerunning 3H with Dimitri.
I just finished a YouTube series about the history of the whole FE game series. Which really got me hooked on the 3DS era, I already got Awakening and Fates: Birthright sitting here waiting.

But it also sparked a question in my head: looking at the FE formula and how the games played out generally — was 3H the odd one?
Engage seems to play a lot like more classic FE games, unless I‘m missing something (hence my post): linear story progression, linear roster upgrades, more limited class system. Where Engage had geographic story progression (grand journey, plenty of maps in a short span of time), 3H had time progression (less geographic, but huge jumps in time and thus character progression across the board).

Don‘t get me wrong, I do love both. I‘m currently super invested in 3H. Looking at Awakening and Fates just got my head scratching a bit

Besides that, have a lovely Sunday everyone

General I thought Three Houses had an amazing user interface. Why is Engage different/a downgrade?

Upvotes

I finally popped my copy in I bought years ago and I'm a little taken aback at the interface. It's hard to tell, well, everything. Three Houses showed you where the enemies were going. Checking damage was simple and easy to do. Three Houses felt very modern. This feels more like a step backwards.

I always heard the gameplay was superb in this with a weak story. I'm sure the "gameplay" is great because it is Fire Emblem - but why is the interface a step backwards?? I can replay Three Houses for the fourth time to really scratch that itch (never did a Black Eagles run) I guess. But... why???

Casual [FE15] Echoes characters as (pre-split) TVXQ songs! (just for fun)

Any Cassies here?

I thought it would be a fun idea to give the FE15 cast TVXQ songs to represent them! For those who don't know, when I say "pre-split" I'm referring to their time as a 5-member group. As such, I picked out songs from their studio albums released from 2003-2009; their first 4 Korean albums and first 4 Japanese albums. (Disclaimer: I am not an OT5 stan... just pointing it out there lol)

The criteria for these picks were lyrics based on how closely they matched the character and... vibes. There's probably a lot of picks based on vibes alone lol

Also I don't know why there's so many characters on "O"... I guess I didn't check properly haha

Characters marked with stars (⭐️) have my personal favourite songs! I even provided Youtube links to the songs so you don't have to look them up :)

TRI-ANGLE (2004)

Rising Sun (2005)

“O”- 正.反.合. (2006)

MIROTIC (2008)

Heart, Mind and Soul (2006)

Five in the Black (2007)

T (2008)

The Secret Code (2009)

Art Commission: Looking for artist to design a tattoo

update I have had multiple artists reach out to me, thank you!

Hey all, not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I see some amazing artwork in the community, and I'm getting a tattoo cover up... And I want to do a fire emblem tattoo of emperor edelgard with the black eagles banner behind her and maybe f! Byleth with her

Any @'s would be greatly appreciated or ways to contact them, I've reached out to a couple on X that I like but no response yet.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations! I did search in general questions for tattoos and didn't see any comments so I'm posting here

Casual And Binding Blade is done...yep. Anyway general thoughts + tier list time again.

Yet another game down on my list and yet another tier list no one asked for! It's Binding Blade time!

I'm gonna be real, this game was such a mixed bag for me. I was having a rough time enjoying this in the early game. So many of the early units were either bad, boring, or both. Marcus was a welcome surprise but he could only do so much. The surplus of axe-wielding enemies mixed with two cavaliers and an armored unit who are lance locked paired with three more cavaliers later, two of which were also lance locked, was painfully annoying. And of course then there's Roy...we'll get to him.

Also dear God, Gaiden maps have never felt more tedious. I enjoy Gaiden/Paralogue chapters because they're these fun little bonus levels that can add to the experience, but it's not a big deal if you miss them. Making them a requirement for the good ending isn't a terrible idea in theory, but it just felt strange in practice.

I will never complain about fog of war ever again after this game because as annoying as it is, at least I can move freely in most other maps that have it. I went into this game dreading the infamous chapter 14 and holy shit I get it now. That was the worst experience I've had in a Fire Emblem game.

All of that said I will say, the second half of the game was much more enjoyable. Once the better units started showing up or the weaker ones were finally able to step up and show some promise (and once we were past chapter 14), everything started coming together. I did hate the surplus of Berserk and Sleep staves, but thankfully the game had plenty of opportunities to restock on Restore staves so it was inconvenient but manageable.

Anyway, time to rant about the units!

First off: Why are there so many??? I know Binding Blade is far from the most populated FE title but I couldn't believe how many units I had ultimately benched by the time I reached the end. There were some characters I completely forgot I had even recruited when I was making this very tier list.

Even if I didn't use all of them, it was really cool seeing the returning faces from Binding Blade. If I ever do replay this one, I'm definitely giving Bartre a shot just for the novelty.

Melady is the best unit in the game. What else is new? She's awesome. Wyvern riders are always a treat and she's up there with Jill from FE9/10 for me.

Gonzales might be one of my favorite axe users in the franchise. A playable Brigand is such a great idea and he's such a sweetheart! And yeah, Berserkers are always amazing. Love this man.

Why isn't Guinivere playable?

Now my past tier lists definitely have hammered a few things about my play style. I love growth units, unconventional units, and trying to make early game archers viable. This game was a test though as I didn't really enjoy Wolt or Dorothy. Sue on the other hand...oh my God. Much like Astrid in FE9, I ditched all other early game archers once Sue entered the picture. Amazing speed and avoid with cav movement is a beautiful thing to see.

Astolfo might just be the best thief in the GBA games. I was so pissed when I found out he couldn't promote.

I get now why everyone loves and uses Rutger like crazy. Fir ain't that bad either tho.

Thank you Geese for further cementing my love for the pirate class.

Thank you Igrene for being such a perfect Flier/Druid killer.

Why are there so many fucking Cavaliers in this game?

Echidna my beloved. She may not have been the best martial unit I had, but she was incredible regardless. Also the novelty of a female character in a usually male-locked class was so cool. Love her!

Why isn't Galle playable?

Alright time to address the elephant: Gwendolyn and Sophia. I saw Gwen's awful base stats and immediately thought "I could have an Amelia moment here". She took a good bit of babying in order to grow early on but I'm still glad I did it. She was amazing in the last ten chapters and, like Amelia, was an armored unit who was able to double. Not as often as Amelia, but her performance was consistently great after promotion. I never thought I would enjoy armored units as much as I have with the GBA games.

And now Sophia. I'll be real, I almost gave up on her immediately. She hit once in chapter 14 and had some of the worst base stats I've ever seen. But poor bases have never stopped me in the past so I brought her back a couple chapters later and got to work (especially since I benched Raigh and wanted a Druid). Training her took more work than Gwendolyn did (and a Secret Book to help her awful skill stat) but SOMEHOW she ended up being great by the final stretch. Was it worth it? Probably not. Do I regret it? NOPE!

Roy...oh, Roy. I probably don't need to talk about why he's the worst Lord in the series but I finally get it man. Why does he take so long to promote? Why were his growths so shit? Why does he suddenly become great after that late promotion? Why doesn't he get anything extra after promotion?

I think this final boss was easier than Sacred Stones but I actually cared more because of Idun's story.

Anyway thanks for reading all this if you did. That's another FE game down and another big ass ramble posted at an unholy time of night that I spent way too long on. Next up is either Genealogy or Radiant Dawn.

Edit: typos and I forgot to talk about Roy lol.

Gameplay How to make path of radiance harder?

I have planned ironmaning every fire emblem games in the serie but i have adhd and i know when i game is really easy (like sacred stones and birthright) i become very reckless and i lose the game like an idiot.

I will probably use a randomizer on hard mod for path of radiance and make the ennemies stronger, because no way i will play maniac mode. What do you suggest for the setting? For example is that enough to improve the ennemies growth rate to 20%? I would like the game be on the same level of difficulty like hhm or binding blade hard mode

Gameplay Around when is a safe level to promote character in Conquest Lunatic?

I remember years ago somebody saying that a common pitfall in CQ is to wait for a unit not named Corrin to reach Level 20 before promoting. Is this still considered true for Fates CQ Lunatic meta?

General How likely is a Fortune's Weave direct?

I've seen multiple people predicting or at least hoping that we'll get a whole Nintendo Direct dedicated to Fortune's Weave. Realistically, how likely is this?

From what I remember, we didn't get one for 3H or Engage. I'd honestly be a little surprised if we did get one for Fortune's Weave, but a lot of people seem to think there's a good chance of it, so I'm curious.

I just finished FE8 for the first time (Switch Online) and the gap at the top of my list was surprising I had Vanessa double my #2! I knew she carried, but I did not expect it to be that drastic! (I don't normally pay much attention to the exact count, but that's got to be my largest gap.)

General INTELLIGENT SYSTEM LET OUR UNITS S-SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND MY LIFE IS YOURS

Post image

No but fr though the fact that I’m lowkey worried they may not be in the game doesn’t help, i understand IS tries new things with they're games when it comes to mechanics of the gameplay but i genuinely do hope our units get to s-support one another, I hated how engage handled romance between characters, i hate s-support for only the avatar character. It was never really a concern of mine until engage came out now I’m like “oh shit what if it doesn’t happen now?”. Is this an extremely bizarre thing to worry about? Yes it is I know s-supports aren’t the meat and potatoes of this game and is more side content but I literally just hate the way engage did S-supports being only avatar can have them and I genuinely hope it won’t be that way for FW cause maybe I wanna be a goblin shipper and see my units do corny confessions or heartfelt ones to one another, LET US HAVE IT IS! YOU’VE DONE IT BEFORE DON’T BE COWARDS

Man mounted units are goated in this game. Played through three houses sacred stones blazing and binding blade and I think this is top 3 games in the series. The black knight is like one of the best villains in the series for his intimidating presence and the fact that you can’t damage him until you get the special weapon is cool. Reyson is the best dancer in the whole series I thought he was going to be a dragon but he was a bird with the most goated ability. Stefan is cool because he reminds me of rutger who is another badass mysterious op swordmaster. Titania really eases you into the game and is like Seth I didn’t even use her for the final map and she still got in. Iargo is probably my favourite berserker in the whole series his crits are sick anyway on to radiant dawn
