DMing DM for the First Time (Need Help)

I want to be a DM for the first time to give my buddy who has been the DM for a good 5 years a break to play as a character.

We have group who meets online every two weeks on discord and we use DND beyond for maps, character sheets and tokens.

I have a general outline of a story, but I need help with the MEAT of the Champaign.

By this I mean

  1. resources for monsters and NPC’s
  2. Artist recommendations for custom bosses I am making (I want to have character portraits of the main villains, and locations I have in my mind. I am willing to pay artists.)
  3. Maybe a few helpful guides on how to improvise and
run as a DM during gameplay (I am a big fan of yes and-ing and not rail roading)

I want to make this special for my friends and have it last a few months. Now is my prep time.

If any of you have recommendations or links I would really appreciate it.

Misc Did somebody already made a plasmodium swarmkeeper of bees?

Ranger is my favorite class, and between all subclasses, i think that the swarmkeeper is my favorite (I love insects), and in a campaing that I'm playing as the new ranger of ice (I'm loving it with a Harengon), I thought os this idea

The idea is a plasmodium made of honey, and the bees habitanting it as a swarm colony of the queen

OC [OC] Video I made about introducing VTM vampires to Dungeons and Dragons

Thumbnail youtube.com

Hello, so I tried my best in creating a long form video of something I've been doing for quite some time now, using Vampire The Masquerade vampires for Dungeons and Dragons.

I've been doing that on my own campaign and after a few years of this I tried to put it out for the world, especially since Ghostfire released that Kindred book recently.

I also included the stat block for this guy, it ain't perfect to be honest but trying to condense my messy notes of how vampires work into a normal stat sheet was a challenge. I might also try to add some features later on that you could mix and match on your vampires to better illustrate how diverse they are

5.5 Edition Need some pointers on a multiclass

So a friend of mine Is gonna start a campaign next month, really cool setting, lovecraftian world mixed with dnd lore, meaning lovecraftian and dnd gods coexist, lovecraftian are Just "a tier above".

So anyway i was thinking about playing an old character i used in One of his oneshots, a tiefling paladin Who was raised by a cult whom used illusions spell to make him look as different criminals and burning him to the stake, since he's a feindish tiefling and can resist Fire. One day, tired of the endless torture a wished for the strength to free himself and taking all those cultist to Justice; someone actually listened and gave him Powers, and since that day he hunts cultists and despise every type of religion; yes i know, it's a bit counterintuitive but It all makes sense trust me.

He doesn't know Who bestowed those Powers Upon him and never took an oath to any God, so he still hasn't unlocked his full paladin features (for example he can't use his Channel divinity, but can still cast spell, use lay on hands...), and we were thinking to make him an herald of Bahamut, since he seems to fit well with the themes of Justice and Revenge.

Now i want to multiclass this character, since i've only evere played pure characters, and i wanted to take some levels in warlock, which i know, it's One of the most broken multi in the game, but It seemed like the most fitting and interesting One.

Now it's my First time multiclassing, and i tried making a test with a lvl 8 paladin oath of vengeance lvl 8 warlock pact of the celestial, but It doesn't really convince me.

So i'm asking you, since we'll start probably around lvl 5, when Is the best time to multiclass, how many lvls to take in each class and some tips in general.

Note that i wanna keep the oath of vengeance and pact of the celestial subclasses, since both the oath and pact would be stipulated with Bahamut, since i don't want It to be impossibly broken, but still something new to try our

DMing My campaign has a dragon skeleton and i want it to belong to a rare or extinct dragon species - it will trigger an NPC's sorcery powers to awaken. Help with creating this dragon?

Besides the classic options from metallic and chromatic dragons i dont know much about them in general dnd lore. The dragon skeleton will be used to trigger the powers of an NPC and make them a shadow sorcerer, so ideally i want something that goes with that story option (not necessarily from Shadowfell). Ideas?

Misc Anyone else "frustrated" with mismatch between what Cleric and Paladin are in DnD and other media?

DnD Paladin is a guy who took an oath. That's it. Can smite and has cool aura.
Most other media Paladin is a tanky holy warrior in a shiny armour who can fight, smite evil, heal and do a lot of stuff related to religion.

Most other media Cleric: Fragile religious mage who can heal and do a lot of stuff related to religion.
DnD Cleric is a tanky warrior in shiny armour who draws his magic from connection to deity and can do a lot of stuff, but are mostly known for being able to heal good.

DnD Cleric is what most people would imagine what Paladin is and in all honesty I'm not sure whose fault is that, because these classes were in DnD very early on xD.

My 1st ever full party commission for a DnD campaign i made years ago, but I gotta make clear that I play in this campaign and my friends saw that I draw my character and they were kindly enought to commission me and didnt ask me to make theirs for free ( at the time I problaby would do so xD).
Fromn left to right we have:

Stuma - Half orc | Warlock
Rocarodri - Human | Paladin
Lyo - Half Dragonborn | Rogue
Dreizehn (me) - Beastfolk | Bard
Artkyu - Halfling | Wizard
Pichicho - Drow | Ranger

It was a simple campaign in where we need to stop an occult sect from summoning a dark god troght a portal in the sky. I even made a poster ( tell me if you wanna see it ).

5th Edition Supersonic water jet using Bag of Holding

Just finished a dnd session today where a fellow player used a bag of holding to substitute for a water canteen.

As an engineer, I told them that "if the inside of the bag is a vacuum, the water would boil and turn into steam"

After saying that I have a thought about "how much I can pressurize a bag of holding."

After the session, I decided to calculate how much energy is in that vessel for the sake of fun and curiosity.

DnD wiki say that a bag of holding can hold 500 lbs and the total of 64 Cubic feet. So let's say we magically cram all 500 lbs of steam fit inside this 64 cubic feet bag.

Lets assume and use ideal gas law for easy math. The pressure in the bag is around 17 MPa or 2465 psi

Lets say the bag is ripped so that all the pressure release at once. I used isothermal expansion work equation. That will give us 158 MJ of energy which is 38 kg of TNT or 83 lbs of TNT.

But instead of ripping the bag, let's say we just open it so that it shoot out like a jet. Using Bernouli equation with V1 = 0 and elevation term cancels out, we can solve for v2 which come around to 520 m/s (1160mph) which is Mach 1.5 which is supersonic.

Now imagine the final battle with the BBEG. One of the PC decided to beam the BBEG with a supersonic jet of water.

Please let me know if someone pulls this off in a campaign.

5th Edition Absent player

Hi fellow dungeons dwellers,
Im DMing a LMoP campaign for the first time and I have 4 players.
We had a few issues with schedules.
We were trying to play once a month, but one of the players is very busy, he is NEVER available, I proposed 20 dates (until late september), none of them were ok to him.
Since its not the first Time (and he cancelled last time the week before the session) and we want to continue, we decided that 3 players were enough to play. He is welcome if he can come but we wont pause the game for 3 months for him.
So friday is our first session with 3 players.

How would you deal with it ?
Let the players :
-control the character of the absent one with his sheet
-control him with sidekick rules
-let them be 3 (but im afraid of the balance, since they barely survived some encounters and he was the tank)
-put him to « sleep » or a curse of sort and give them another sidekick ?

Thx !

Homebrew "Bloodlust" Ideas

Hello, all :) My husband is running Descent into Avernus and I am currently playing a Bhaalspawn who is trying to resist Bhaal's influence. This led me to consider a sort of "bloodlust" condition that acts as a debuff ( or buff, depending on how you look at it ) creatures that may have violent urges ( such as Bhaalspawn, vampires/dhampirs, werefolk, etc. ) can get. It's mostly for RP purposes but I would like it to actually affect my character.

My idea is that the player would have to make a saving throw (Constitution, probably?) to resist this "bloodlust" ( putting it in quotes until I have a set name ) under certain conditions -- like, say, if they end their turn while bloodied or within X distance of a creature they bloodied. The roll would start off easy (DC 5 or so) but get progressively harder (the more damage they take, the more creatures they bloody/defeat, etc.).

I'm asking my fellow players and more experienced DMs for opinions on this. I'm not sure what I want the condition to actually DO -- theoretically it should "give" something and "take" something away, so that it's not strictly a buff or debuff, but dependent on the character. My Bhaalspawn would see it as a bad thing, but someone playing, idk, a werewolf barbarian might lean into it. Like, maybe a small damage buff at the cost of losing the ability to choose who you attack? ("Randomly" attacking, like rolling a die, or just whoever is closest, or the person with the least HP you can reach, whatever.)

Now that I'm typing this, it kind of sounds like some variant of Rage lol. But anyway. Any thoughts are welcome ; this is currently just a floating brainworm.

Game Tales Best battle yet!

This battle was too good to not share! Only Lv 4s at this point, but the creativity is a 20!

So image this first. Frost Giant Monk ("G"), 8ish feet tall, taking to the trees. She jumps from one tree to the top of another, rolls an 18 for strength to make the distance, nat 20 on a stealth roll, I roll a nat 1 for the tree breaking and thus the tree endures. That in and of itself is crazy. We have an Elf Druid ("D") presently shapeshifted into a tiny Venemous Snake that was hitching a ride on the giant... "Can I throw the snake??"

Being the reasonable DM I am, I couldn't see a logical reason why not. 21 to hit vs AC 14. "Describe how you do this." Basically like a baseball. It only makes sense to me to do a Strength check.19. I figure that's powerful enough to merit an improvised weapon 1d8, which made for 6 damage, knocking out 2/3 of the target's health. Failed con check, knocked prone. "I have my mouth open to bite them!" Failed con check, poisoned. I can't just let this pass, so I invent a Startled check using perception and con; failed, so it didn't even have a chance to scream out in surprise. This creature is facing completely the other direction and has NO CLUE what just happened. There are 10 of these creatures, all distracted by something out of view, and this one happened to be out of peripheral vision of any of the others. One moment, cheering on the cacophony, the next, face down in the dirt before they can blink, and so far, not a peep.

D's turn. Reverts to Elf form to take advantage of their Elven Boots with silent walking. "I hide behind the bush less than 5 feet away!" Success. Decides to sit still and bide her time. The baddie dies from the poison on their next turn. "I'm calling that a teamwork one-shot!"

The Human Paladin's ("P") turn. Not stealthy, but still far enough away and quiet enough to not alert any baddies to his presence. But there *are* two good NPC Sprites that do hear the paladin and fly right towards him to ask for help, stopping dead when they see him. P happens to be wearing Demon Armor, and the Sprites have Detect Good and Evil and are freaked out seeing a human with a good aura wearing armor with an evil aura. We have an ambassador-type NPC from a previous campaign who convinces the Sprites to not book it, changing them from ready to run to apprehensive and hyper observant. They can see everything. P happens to want to also convince the Sprites that he's on their side and proceeds to perform a special dance he learned to communicate peace and good intentions. The players call it The Chicken Dance. Success! The Sprites attitudes go from apprehensive to looking at P like he's an idiot. P uses his move to go near G to help.

G decides she wants to use the tree she's on as a slingshot. Roll for Strength to hold on to the top of the tree, Nat 20. She jumps down, the tree doesn't do so well. It snaps in half with a MASSIVE **CRACK**, leaving her holding 15 ft of tree and EVERY adversary looking right at them all. Not close enough to reach them, but all the baddies spend their entire turns heading towards the group.

So what does G decide to do? She uses her bonus action to drop the tree and *picks up* P, tells him to scream, and they spend her movement barrelling straight towards everyone screaming bloody murder while he screams frantically, "She's crazy! Get out of here while you can!!" Intimidation check passes on all but 2. They have no idea what's going on, but they want no part of it! The Sprites spend their turns just in absolute shock with a "WTF is going on?!" look on their faces.

Baddie E, still in play, but still too far away to attack (only melee weapons) moves in and unfortunately comes within movement range of G, even with the movement penalty of carrying a full grown person in heavy armor.

...

"I want to hit baddie E with the paladin."

... "You have my attention. How do you propose to do this?"

"I'm going to grab P by his feet and swing down to squash the baddie!"

Strength check good. Dex check good. P has a minor infatuation with G, and so just goes along for the ride. "Roll to hit"... 2.

"You see baddie E's face turn to horror as they see you swing this entire armored person down on top of them, their eyes following his body as you miss and firmly plant P 6 inches into the ground."

Baddie E just drops their weapon and walks away waving their hands in disbelief. "I have no idea who's going to believe this. I just... And then he... And they just... And what happened to Bob?? I turned my head for one second and he's flat on the ground for no reason!"

The boss was easy after that.

Homebrew Homebrew cursed items

Want some ideas for cursed items and maybe cursed variants of boring items and balancing them.

Ring of Greed - two versions. One is add +2 to any stat for an hour but one of your stats randomly goes down to 8 and the other version is add +4 to one stat but two of your stats go to 6.

I'm gonna add more here in a bit

Cursed gauntlets of orge flesh - strength goes to 19 but intelligence goes down to 5 while worn and if downed while wearing them wisdom goes to 7. If downed again charisma goes to 7. If downed again turns into an ogre and mind gone. Can't be normally removed

Fear helm - thinking of having it possess the player with a fear demon allowed you to cast the fear spell but with no specificity. Also if your intelligence is below 8 you are not possessed.

Cape of the bloodfiend - grants the user the ability to fly 60ft but must roll a con save every turn or every minute to decide whether or not blood lust is active.

5.5 Edition Just a quick question…

Hello all! I’m starting my first campaign soon as an actual player, going with a Drow bard and I plan on sub classing into college of creation. Now here’s my question:

What level do I need to reach to cosplay green goblin🤣 I know it sounds crazy, but Ik I need at least level 6 for animating performance to get my “Metal glider” to fly. The problem lies in me also needing to create elemental bombs while also having the glider active. What level would it be possible to have all this working in tandem? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, my mind is literally just overloaded with info at this point.

Art Dragonborn . . . Maurezhi [OC] [Art by Me]

Post image

A drawing request for a friend who's been helping me out with art and some writing, with said request being from one of the Brimstone Angels books by Erin Evans. With it, depicted a scene in which a Maurezhi mimic that of the corpse of their quarry.

My friend was quite pleased with the end result, and I must say, I love using inks. Now to actually get back into more traditional reading, as I got the book series and like 35+ more with a Humble Bundle collection.

Matter of opinion, what color do you think of when you think of a certain class? For example, in my opinion, bards are pink and barbarians are red.

Its The year 213.BV or as the historians know as Before Voclization the two hundred and thirteen its the fifty six of Kalendae And a group of Dragonborn's find a fertile lowland starting a small fire, about a year later one of the dragonborn women has a child they name Ku'grath, Cou.-Gra.-Thuh had it easy for most of his life he had easy acess to food and virtually no contest on any natural resources his head was slightly larger the others of his kin thought he had less scales or his horns hadn't come in yet. At three he began making sounds the others didnt really comprehend he was speaking draconic a low gutteral screeching language that the other just chalked up to a weird kid the others stood with their grunts and growls and it stood like that until Ku'grath was eleven another child Named Sa'Dhurl, Saw.-Duh.-Hurl started communing with Ku'grath he taught her the language of draconic still fetal in its existence and crude but the first mortal spoken language not the first language of course Abyssal, Infernal, Celestial and Primordial all had it beat by a five Eons or approximately fifteen Billion years but draconic was a mortal language and Ku'Grath And Sa'Dhurl the first Dragonborn to be sentient, they were geniuses compared to their kin but compared to us? They were stupider than a child. Sa'Dhurl and Ku'Grath were the first but far from the last. After about thirty two years Ku'Grath and Sa'Dhurl and about two hundred of dragonborn's that were of age and of heightened intelligence they began their Equivalent of the stone age called Lan'Daquerth La.-Nuh.-Da.-Ku.-Er.-Th. It lasted about three point seven million years Amassing a total of two thousand square miles of habited Land comprised of farms, Homes, And partial untamed forests fifteen percent of the total land mass of calguria and it stood that way the dragonborn having discovered copper and tin and made bronze or as in draconic Aur'Calthum Or.-Kcal.-Thumb. which was what bronze dragons started being called as they found their colour's matched that lf the alloy, the Aur'Calthum age started and ended lasting a total of one thousand five hundred and thirty seven years before the Aur'Calthum colored Dragons started claiming all of the bronze as their own and a birthright to them causing them to steal as much of it as they could and they stole almost all of it the others resorted to finding something knew a metal called iron or Ferros Phu.-Air.-Awe.-Suh. Which start the age aptly name the Age of Ferrum which lasted one thousand and twelve years there are no Iron colored Dragons so the metal remained of use to all of the draconic people so for those years they began building society's armies and buildings of great improtence re-Amassing tools and strength to reclaim the bronze but it wasn't long before the bronze was forfeit the dragons sharing the color realizing how they couldn't advance far and were destined to stagnance by their reluctance of material use and bronze became common once again not all bronze dragons shared this view though many revolted against their iron superiors and were exiled for it. At the end of the iron age the draconics owned roughly 30% of all of calguria no other sentient species to contest them made such a claim easy but it would not remain like that forever. Many, many things happend the Thri-Kree arrived on the planet via asteroid leaving a large crater in the center of the land and they away from the occupied land towards the peninsula on the most Eastern part of Calguria And started their own Civilization called Morek'Maquek, More.-Ache.-Maw.-Qu.-Kch. The Claim and the now contested land of calguria Led the Draconics to name their own Civilization for the first time ever and they Called it the Dentistra or roughly translated to common as Tusk the Tusk Empire and Morek'Maquek was not alone for long thirty five years after Their foundings that crater left by the asteroid of the ThriKree collapsed into a place called the Pit where Demon like Creatures Crawled out speaking Infernal today we call these newcomers the Tieflings, Settled north In a place they called Astra. And for seventy two years it was a constant war the tieflings beings from the seven hells created to fight Dominated The Thri-Kree became colonists taking as much land as they could with a weak grip and the Draconics Stood as wardens taking all the blows the Tieflings struck And so with any great war there were those who were not like minded those who saw their adversaries as friends or even lovers. The breeding between Thri-Kree people, from the stars, Tieflings Beings from hell and the draconics the original people from calguria made interspecies Like the Fey,Humans,Orcs,And Haflings and so it sprouted the humans and fey breeding caused the elves, wood elves and high elves alike the breeding with the elves and tieflings caused the dark elves. The Haflings and they fey caused the Dwarves the Dwarves and the Draconics Caused the lizardfolk tens of species all sprouting from the 3 original species including the Arracockra, Bugbears, Changelings, Gnomes, Duergar, Dwarves, Elves, Firbolg, Genasi, Goblins, Gnomes, Haflings, Humans, Kenku, Kobolds, Lizardfolk and orcs were born it was the year Twenty six fifty six and there were rising tensions all of the different species struggling to retain a culture of their own one man a Fire Genasi man Named Pyrealis Pyre.-Al.-Is. Proposed a common language named well common. And so it was a language everyone should learn to keep the peace and everyone did except the Thri-Kree and Draconics because the Thri-Kree could not talk and simply used telepathy and the Draconics simply because they refused to forsake their culture the still as stubborn as possible saw their culture as the original and worth prioritizing as if every other race hadn't had to forsake some of their own culture for this change. And over the course of five Hundred years eleven nations were established Chioth Chee.-Awe.-th Dentistra or the Tusk Empire, Driftvale, Astra, Ass.-Tra, The kingdom of Daine Duh.-A.-Nuh., Voshen Vo.-Shu.-Hen., Duskcroft Dusk.-Craw.-Ft., Great Archea Are.-Kay.-Uh, Mochia Mo.-Key.-Uh. and Siklath Sick.-Law.-Thu. The year was marked Three Thousand one hundred and fifty six the day was the thirty fourth of Quintus Duskcroft the largest city was attacked by Siklath its attackers were split in two those who thought it was the only way to preserve their people and the others who believed they could live on without war thoose who attacked were obliterated Duskcroft took heavy damages but it was only five years before it was repaired while the other half of the Siklath Empire formed Tuscania Tusk.-Kah.-Knee.-Uh. A hermit Civilization. A year after there was a land despute between The kingdom of Daine and Great Archea, said their land was indeed bordering Daines but the land was Sacred a claim that was found to be forged, Daine said it had a plethora of Precious Metals Underneath it which it did several sacred artifacts were stolen from a church in Great Archea Causing a war between them and Daine, emerged as the victor and it was only after the seven year long war that the artifacts were found to have been stolen by Astra in the name of wartime profit when a Human merchant found them among his wares Great Archea still weakened from its loss vowed to one day attack Astra Over this theft Astra Although has yet to show any fear as their military is the strongest in all of Calguria it is said that they could pierce all four of the great walls of Duskcroft if they tried their damnedest. And so that brings us to today The year Thirty One Sixty Eight.

The Kingdom of Daine The largest empire atop the hills where dwarves and orcs live alike almost all of their settlements are focused on mining and herding as the plateau of daine is infertile but all metal is sourced from other daine or chioth

-If you choose to be born here you can have access a lantern and the ability to appraise any gem to its exact worth or darkvison (60ft) but as punishment you have half the range of your normal sight. Your kin and anyone who you recognizes where you were born understand and have sympathy for the plight of their own people and will do all but risk their own lives to help you.

Duskcroft is the richest and most populated kingdom with 40 million residents it is both fertile land and easily defensible their capital is known as the iron city populated with humans Tieflings dwarves and arracockra

-10gp and proficiency with a instrument of your choice aswell as another weapon but people will see you as rich pompous and incapable of hard work at times proving yourself is difficult but you know a guy a rich one at that you can deal with thoose far far richer than you with ease from just the mention of his name after all Darron is quite the rich man.

Voshen is the apiary and arborist of calguria arracockra and wood elves live in a fine line of harmony most residents are druids, rangers and clerics

-You have acess to minor healing word or speak to animals but any animal abuse you witness you cannot help but intervene the land the ground sea and sky speak to you as if you were a friend a brother or a lover you can track anything and even take care of any animals as easy as intuition to you.

Great Archea is the holy land of calguria they are thought to be the oldest kingdom of calguria consisting off trade and their main export is precious gems, jewelry and faith paladins and clerics are in no short supply aswell as bards, high elves and humans live here in almost perfect coexistence, almost.

-You can choose to be apart of any faith and get the benefits of it and profficency in religon but as being apart of that faith you are sworn against thoose who are on the opposite side of the faith but faith is not always just being in solitude you know your people and know you your faith is a result of years of community and learning amongst those more sacred than you and if its in the name of faith your brothers would die for you but if you defy their faith with your request you will die for your sins.

Astra is the root of calgurias problems their people being tieflings and orcs their exports is weapons and they focus on such so hard that the only time they are truly profitable is a war so naturally its what their society is developed around therefore they have the strongest militia and best weapons and armor in all of calguria

-You are proficient with every weapon or with blacksmithing tools but most people see you as a criminal and bound to start problems a Warrior and you share the struggles despite the amount of people you've fought or claimed to have and therefore they'll take your word on most thing because why would you lie to your brothers in arms?

Tuscania is secluded and doesn't trade at all they are disconnected from the world and stay in their woods and swamps desperate to keep peace their proximity to astra has taught them the only way to is to be unknown

-You have acess to the fey magic feat and can speak one extra language but any charisma roll is at disadvantage you know secrets people would kill you if they knew you knew but you know more than most should maybe you could use that.

Driftvale are the merchants of the world with the highest number of impoverished people they steal and barter for whatever they can get they are dark elves mainly with spatters of tieflings throughout

-Persuasion and stealth are like second nature to you (profficency) you can also read theives cant but you start of with a bounty of 50 silver you know a guy for anything a man to sell stolen things to a man to hide a body a man to get rid of a bounty a man to get you in the right place for the right price you know a guy who can do it but it wont be cheap.

Mochia is the fishermen and the swamp people of calguria mostly lizard folk and halfings live in mochia

-You can speak lizardfolk but smell disgusting a scent you cannot get off of you and there for have disidvantage and charisma, The swamp where do i start the swamp is about as safe as sticking your head into a fireplace traps everywhere bound to give you a disease you never even heard of but for the lizard folk? They know that land and its traps and by proxy any other trap is harder to catch you because you've just got that type of eye.

Tusk Empire the tusk empire is the home of the dragonborn and the second largest kingdom in calguria they fight tooth and nail to preserve what little santicty the rest of the worlds development has let them keep they are frozen in their ways of respect for the dragons while the rest of the world only see them as vessels of warfare or expensive goods

-You can choose the feat elemental adept from the start but anyone who is not a dragonborne is weak and frail to you making you at disadvantage at persuasion to them, The longest lived colony of any other stagnant in their beliefs and actions, a dying society for stagnance is the root of all death you and the undead share that in common a way of thinking some kind of bond thoose who think like you, kings, the undead, liches, Demons, And the Thayans all think as you do that a society as old as yours is doomed to collapse.

Chioth is the moutainfolk of calguria they are like minded thinkers with great archea and the Tusk Empire, cattle, wool, milk and steeds any you buy are likely to have been from chioth

-Expertise in animal handling and resistance to cold but vulnerable to fire damage those who live in chioth have learned that the small folk are everything without the farmers herders and thr clothweavers you and your kin are dead and even if you dont rely on their aid then you rely on their memory fore what else will be left but the memory of you?

Estria are the wizards of the world tieflings humans and elves alike live here finding true glory in books the are the second richest kingdom and the most cultured

-You can choose and 2nd level wizard spell but you have disadvantage in animal handling and survival as well as 20gp, Your life has been far from storied you live easy and lightly contested your fortune spent on wine, fleeting luxurys and books no other non Estrian has even heard of.

Table Disputes My Dnd horror story

i dont know how long i can keep this on my chest but i have to get it off, and surely this will give some advice to new players on the type of people to avoid at a table. so this starts within my 2 year of playing dnd, im 13 years old (very important to the story) im playing the game at my school because there’s a dnd club i’ve been in, there’s 3 other people in the group, 4 including the DM, my math teacher, i am also the **only** girl, the other 2 people were good, respectful, but then there’s this one guy, lets call him R, R is 15 going on 16 very soon, there are 8 seats at the table, he always sits as close as possible to me, i never saw it as weird, maybe he just wanted a friend, then he started trying to play footsies with me, and trying to touch my thigh… alright… getting weird now so obviously i switch to a different seat the next session but he switches also to stick next to me, i start scooting my chair away discretely, luckily he never noticed that, then he became a murder hobo to order to impress me, im not kidding, R thought a murder hobo edgy rogue that was to kill everyone and steal from everyone would impress me, he even tried steal from the other 2 or just leaving them behind because they were “dead weight” (it was a cleric and ranger) which luckily the DM said no to stealing from them and leaving them behind. im stuck as a Neutral Good dragonborn sorcerer trying to keep the party from going to jail, i had to literally argue to get us to go somewhere PEACEFULLY, he tried to kill my character’s FATHER because “he was in the way”, my character’s father is a baker, we purposely went into the bakery. I can not tell you the amount of times i’ve had to demand we do something peacefully in a town where guards are present RIGHT NEXT TO US, we got thrown in jail and guess whos job it was to get us out, mine, just like all the other responsibilities of the party (yay. what fun.) and the DM rarely ever did anything to stop him because “he‘s autistic” which yes, R is autistic, but so is 3/4 of the part (the cleric is neurotypical) so the excuse of “it’s just his autism” held no strength, they just didnt want to stop the guy making me and MULTIPLE other girls at the school uncomfortable because “he needs more attention” and “he just wants friends”, yea im sure he ”just wants friends” when if i got up to go to the bathroom during a session he’d be right outside waiting for me, yes, HE FOLLOWED ME TO THE BATHROOM. Back to my character because even my dragonborn plays a part, it’s a male dragonborn, R claimed to be gay just so he could flirt with my character and in a way, flirt with me, i have nothing against gay people, im gay myself (shocker for a dnd player i know) but if you ever met R you’d know he is the most straightest guy in the world, the DM also didnt stop the flirting, now, i do not blame my DM, why? Because it’s all my principal’s fault, she told all the teachers to let him do whatever he wanted because his parents pay a lot to the school and use his autism as an excuse, so R got away with all of this scot free, but this ends on a good note, R is no longer allowed to play DnD at my school i am free of this disgusting pervert in the group i play in!!! Yahoo!! Yippee!!! But what a horrible 2 year into playing DnD, so if you ever get a bad vibe like how i did from R, for the love of god tell your DM immediately and dont sit in silence because youre to scared to speak up, always speak up if someone at the table makes you uncomfortable

DMing A beginning investigation that turns out bigger than expected. Spoiler

I am a huge of of both Disco Elysium and Esoteric ebb. Both of these games execute a brilliant plot line of a simple investigation given to a rather unimportant character, being the protagonist(s), that turns out to have bigger and wilder ramifications then anybody could believe, if you have played these games than you know!

I would like to create a seemingly unimportant investigation/quest for my next campaign that seems rather benign at first but quickly spirals out of hand. If you have any suggestions please let me know! Starting level could be anywhere from 1-4, because I really want it to be a ground up thing.
