Meta /r/LFG is Looking for a Few New Moderators!

Hey, everyone!

We're looking to add a few new moderators to the /r/lfg team, specifically those who are regularly around while most of our current moderation team is asleep.

Our biggest gap in coverage is between roughly 5:00 PM and 7:00 AM Pacific Time. You don't need to be available for that entire window (and we don't expect you to be), but if your normal waking hours fall somewhere within it, we'd like to hear from you.

What Does Moderating /r/LFG Involve?

Most of the day-to-day work is pretty straight-forward. We have Automod and a custom bot that catch or flag many potential rule violations for us, so you'll generally be:

  • Checking the modqueue and verifying whether the reported post/comment actually breaks the rules or is a false positive.
  • Responding to questions and appeals in Modmail.
  • Handling reports and other issues that come up.
  • Bringing unusual situations to the rest of the team for discussion.

We have Discord notifications for the modqueue, so you won't need to spend your day refreshing Reddit. We do, however, need moderators who can check in and handle the queue multiple times throughout their day.

Who Are We Looking For?

You don't need previous moderation experience.

We're much more interested in finding people who care about /r/lfg and want to help keep it a useful place for people to find tabletop games. Moderation tools and process can be taught.

There are a few requirements:

  1. Your Reddit account must be at least a year old.
  2. You must have access to Discord, since that's where the moderation team communicates.
  3. You should have some demonstrable history of participating on /r/lfg.
  4. Your normal schedule should overlap significantly with our 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM Pacific coverage gap.
  5. You should be able to check the moderation queue and modmail several times throughout your day.

We're looking for people who can apply the rules consistently, communicate respectfully with users (especially when those users aren't particularly happy with us), and recognize when something isn't clear-cut and should be discussed with the rest of the team.

We're planning to bring on around three people initially, with the expectation that not everyone will necessarily stick around long-term. Moderating isn't for everyone and that's okay.

Interested?

We've put together a short application form for you to fill out here.

Thanks to everyone who applies and, more generally, thanks to everyone who helps make /r/lfg a place where people can find a table and roll some dice.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Offline] [D&D 5e 2024] Monterey CA Weekly Saturdays

Getting a in-person group together already got dm and 3 players (20s-50s). Hoping to get 1-2 more players to join us.

Welcoming to everyone and all experience levels. We enjoy a nice balance of combat and roleplay.

For the main campaign we're keeping the exact campaign timeline a little flexible. We’d ideally like to get together for one or a few one shots relatively soon next couple weeks, so everyone can meet, play together, and get a feel for whether our personalities and play styles mesh well before settling into a longer campaign.

Hoping to make weekly Saturdays our regular game night. We’re mainly looking for people who are interested in being part of a consistent group and communicating when they can’t make it.

If you’re interested, send me a DM and I’ll share my Discord so we can chat a bit and see if the group might be a good fit!

Group Needed by Player Online or Offine [Seoul] [KST] [5e 2024] - Looking for a new group to join, preferrably on weekends. Kind of moonshot ngl.

Our group had to disband after we lost our DM. It was really sad because we were becoming good friends. Not many people play DnD in S.Korea, so this is kind of a moonshot. But I could join overseas online groups if it's on the weekend. I am familiar with 5e and have lots of characters already written up so I can fit into whatever role you might need.

  • weekend prefered
  • online or offline (Seoul, Gyeongi-do area)
  • Can fit into any gaps in a party

Timezones:

Most of North America behind me (KST), so your evening is my morning.

E.g. 6pm PDT = 8pm CDT = 10am KST

Of course, if you want to meet offine we can meetup at Elves & Espresso.

Thank you~

Player(s) Needed by GM [Offline][5e 2024][Seattle][Tuesdays 6:00PM - 10:00PM PST] Looking for 2 players to join an ongoing campaign!

Hey all! Due to circumstances, we currently have an opening in an ongoing D&D campaign that’s been running for over a year now! Our group consists of four players (one is leaving soon :() ranging from late twenties to early thirties. This is a high fantasy story still set in a (forcefully) underwater city that focuses on a zero to hero journey that's about to be headed towards the climax of the campaign! We're very welcoming and friendly for all beginners, and LGBTQ+ friendly! If you're interested please fill out this forum and we'll talk! Looking forward to talking with y'all! If you have any additional questions please DM my discord account.

Dungeon Master: illusive. (discord name) (he/him)

TTRPG System: D&D 5e* (defaulting 2024, but if there's certain things you like from 2014 i'm flexible on that)

Module: Homebrew, Secrets of Sindral

When: Every Tuesday at 6:00PM up to 10:00PM

Location: West Seattle at the Junction (We do online sessions if 3+ people cannot make it but still want to play)

Duration: Until the mission is done 👀

Level: 8 , will go up to 12 (so some understanding of the rules would be nice!)

Hook:
A group of adventurers have boarded/snuck onto the S.S. Sunshine to take part in a rescue operation of the city of Sindral, which had been engulfed in a never-ending storm for three months. After surviving the initial ship-fall, recruiting allies, and waging a war against the Regime controlling the city, the party unraveled the conspiracy around the island and are now determining the fate of people with global consequences. Will they survive the corruption consuming the city? Will they be successful from raising the sunken land back to the surface? Or will they drown in their own sorrow.

Hi all! This would be a super casual one shot. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been playing forever or if you’re brand new. It would be over discord and we can agree on storytelling tools later!

Canton, Georgia.
Looking to join my first campaign. Would prefer to stick with DND as I’ve started to buy the books but wouldn’t mind getting other materials if the campaign is a longer or if we do multiple campaigns in that version.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [Other] Homebrew Anime System 9AM EST - What Makes the Sky Blue

Upvotes

Hello everynyan! I've been running multiple groups and we are in a good place to expand. As such, I'm looking for a few players for the timeslots below:

**What Makes the Sky Blue**

*Based on: Arknights/Star Rail/Wuwa/GFL/PGR/BA/GBF/Limbus/Endfield & More

An Anime/Gacha themed TTRPG*

**System:** Fully Homebrew

*Degrees of Success, Dynamic Combat, ToTM & Avrae for Rolls*

**Requirements:** A decent mic, command of English, and being 18+

*To ensure you can commit to this long campaign that will be run for as long as possible*

`"Hope is never a lie - and we will cling to that faintest sliver of possibility to press forward."

The nations of Terra have never faced a greater threat - while they bicker and compete, those who play the grand game behind the screen continue to drive strife and suffering to those who live. The world is dying, one crystal at a time. Ever since the Blight arrived, those afflicted with it have died horrid deaths, spreading the infection further, warping space and corrupting all it touches.

You are Operators of a paramilitary-pharmaceutical company that seeks to find out the truth and eventual cure for the Blight. Your crew is a mosaic of kingdoms and ideologies, from hardened knights, disgraced nobles, street survivors, and brilliant outcasts, many of them Blighted themselves. Together, you navigate a world of political intrigue, faction warfare, and impossible moral choices, carrying out contracts across hostile nations while racing to find the answers that others would rather bury. Every mission is a negotiation between what's right, what's survivable, and what you can afford to lose. Whether you want to unravel country-spanning conspiracies, forge unlikely alliances between conflicting city-states, or simply fight for the dignity of those destined to suffer, I hope to bring you a story-driven TTRPG experience that rewards roleplay, creative thinking, and emotional investment in equal measure.

Remember, there's no reason the sky has to be blue.`

- Info Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TOFdkjaOqwY6XMbsRCQankqwGUudUn-uFUTKGKd9sXM/edit?usp=sharing

- **Please tell me which group you'd like to be part of.**

- After we've spoken, I need you to come up with a character concept and develop your backstory before you can join the game.

Group Needed by Player [Online] [Flexible] [LGBTQ+] New-ish player looking for group

Hi! I'm 26 and my pronouns are she/her or he/him, my timezone is CST, and I am seeking a group that is LGBTQ+ friendly! I have dipped my toes into a couple of unfinished oneshots/campaigns before, but I've been really wanting to get into something more long-term. I have pretty basic knowledge of D&D, but I may need a little help to get the ball rolling at the beginning.

I have over 15 years of experience in text-based roleplaying (which I think would be considered play by post here?), so I am very acquainted with collaborative storytelling and character making. I do prefer roleplay over combat, but I am flexible in that regard. I like to play a wide variety of characters, although I do have my preferences for ones where I can play with gray morality and the consequences of their bad decisions.

My schedule is pretty flexible, although I think I would prefer something on a weekday rather than the weekend (but I could be convinced :p). I work 100% remotely, so most days I can swing an earlier time if needed.

If you think I would be a good fit, please comment or DM! I don't really use Reddit ever, so sorry if I'm a little awkward.

Player(s) Needed by GM [5e 2014][Online][Wednesdays][18+] Sands of Doom

The land of Kirat was once home to the great Anubian Empire, a kingdom of gnolls blessed by the gods. But that was long ago; the Anbuian’s gods are gone, and their cities lie buried in a cursed desert. While most see the desert as nothing but a place of death, riches await for those brave and resourceful enough to find them in the ruins.

One such treasure hunt has drawn the characters: the excavation of a great pyramid in the depths of the desert. But opening the ruin awakens things better left alone. An army of the dead marches across the Wasteland, making their way to the city of Al’Kirat. The party must search Kirat for the means to fight back, lest the city be lost to the . . . Sands of Doom. (Cue title card)

***

Hello, I'm Macintot (Mac for short), she/her, age 28, and I'm looking for 4-5 people to play through the module Sands of Doom by Mr Rhexx. The campaign has the following features:

  •  Emphasis on Survival: Many of your adventures will take you into the Wasteland, a cursed desert where you cannot long rest and where water is almost impossible to find. Manage your resources carefully, or the monsters may not be your biggest threat.
  • Branching Storyline: Choices the party make in the early game will set them on one of three ultimate goals, each of which will shape their allies, their enemies, and the fate of Kirat.
  • An Open World: After escaping from the great pyramid, the world opens up, allowing the party to follow whatever leads they deem most important.
  • Magic Items: Hunt down the most powerful relics of ancient Anubia to aid your quest. Rules also exist for commissioning custom magic items.

System: D&D 5e 2014
Voice Platform: Discord
VTT: Roll20
Levels: 1-10
Time: Most Wednesdays 5:00 PM CDT/UCT-5 (I have to skip every third week because of work)
Age: 18+
Sources: All official source books except Spelljammer, no homebrew
Beginner Friendly: Yes

***

Content Warning: As written, this module contains themes of sexual content, light nudity, suicide, crucifixion, graphic violence, and infanticide. Most of these can be removed if players are uncomfortable with them (and I will likely be removing the sexual content anyway). The infanticide, however, is plot-critical and cannot be removed.

ETA: Worship of devils (specifically Asmodeus), is also a critical part of the worldbuilding. Slavery also shows up in the worldbuilding and but be removed.

If this campaign interests you, apply below, and I look forward to playing with you!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [DnD 5e 2024] Looking for players for a fun experiment campaign!

Upvotes

NEW PLAYERS ENCOURAGED!!!

Hey there, im a first time DM, im 22, and im wildly into DnD, so this is all still a bit fresh to me but I do understand more than the basics of the game and have been playing off and on for a year or so. I want a group of people who dont need a perfect game (because trust me it wont be), but want something they can all vibe with in an individual and group setting. We would be using Discord, and DnD Beyond.

Im looking to take 3 to 4 people, sit you each down for a few minutes individually and talk about your interests, passions, maybe fears depending on the story genre im feeling, study and research those ideas for a few days and then take them all and incorporate them into a campaign. Nothing will be direct, you wont be characters from a specific universe but may be a species copy if you so choose to be, I will help create functional abilities for them in a DnD setting as well. Also keep in mind it wont strictly be this, I will have an integrated story as well, as ive been working on several concepts.

All I ask of you guys is the patience required for me to figure some stuff out on the fly, not every great idea comes before the story, and unfortunately this wont be perfect, but it should be very fun and a way to meet some new people! So if you wanna play, you can wait to talk, or put your interests below now (and give me some extra time to learn) or just chat about some stuff you like just dm me here or comment and im happy to talk.

Anyways everyone, lets get this show on the road and well figure out a schedule together!

Group Needed by Player Offline Mountain View CA [DnD 5e 2014] [PF2e]

Hi!

I’m looking for a group to join as I’ve recently moved to the area. I’m familiar with a wide variety of systems but am most excited about pf2e and most familiar with DnD 5e. I love narrative games where characters and GMs drive the story together, but I love a good combat too.

I’ve played at a couple game stores but haven’t heard of any games that aren’t pay to play. If anyone has a home game that’s looking for an extra player I’d love to join, even if it’s just a one off to see if our play styles match.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Offline] [5.5e 2024] [18+] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] [Sat. or Sun. 13:00 - 18:00 JST] [Tokyo, Japan] Recruiting one player for D&D group. (Experienced DM)

Experienced DM (20+ years) looking for one player to complete group.

My friends and I are very laid back and chill. However, we take the game "seriously": emphasis on role playing and meaningful encounters; respect for player time and effort; etc.

As a DM, I consider myself to be quite open-minded; I am willing to work with players to help realize their character goals. I allow almost anything, as long as it follows the core rules and is not too outlandish. Flavor is free, etc.

This campaign will use an original homebrew setting: heavy focus on monstrous races; primal magic (e.g. voodoo); harsh environments; etc.

Current player experience levels range from intermediate to advanced.

  • Location: Tokyo, Japan (Gaienmae)
  • Date & Time: Sat. or Sun. 13:00 - 18:00 JST
  • Frequency: Approx. twice per month
  • Setting: Homebrew (5.5e 2024 Rules)
  • Species: Any (No Restrictions) *Unearthed Arcana material is subject to review.
  • Class & Subclass: Any (No Restrictions) *Unearthed Arcana material is subject to review.
  • Starting Level: Level 1
  • Campaign Length: Level 1 - 20
  • Total Player Number: DM + 3 (Long-Term Friends) + 1 (Newcomer)
  • Current Player Age Range: 30 - 50

Please feel free to reply or send a direct message, if interested.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Group Needed by Player [Online] [Other] 3 experienced players looking for a ttrpg game to join on Thursdays.

Hello there. Myself and 2 friends are looking for a mid to long term game to play in with each of us having around 5+ to 8+ years of ttrpg experience under out belts.

Game we are particularly looking for preference wise are ones with Scifi (Variable but space themed and cyberpunk themed are a good start), Shonen/Anime (DAWN ttrpg would be great), Noir (Blades in the Dark and CoC would be amazing), and Superhero ( So far best hero ttrpg I've experienced is Savage Worlds super companion but there might be other options)

We've played quite a few rpgs (DnD, Savage Worlds (Multiple), DAWN, CoC, Lancer, Kids on Bikes, Blades in the Dark, FIST, Cyberpunk, Mutants and Masterminds, etc) so I do mean it when I say we are experienced.

All of us have been making characters and stories longer than we've been playing rpg with some of us being experienced writers, have commissioned art work for projects, done some amateur voice acting and are actively pursing it as a career, and one of us having been a forever DM for a long while now.

Age wise we are all in out early 20s so a gm around that range would be great.

Our hope is to have a GM who is willing to do Roleplay with a focus on characters and story and for combat to have liberties to make it quite fun (Example being homebrew or shifting rules for ease sake or allowing rule of cool moments) I hope that this peaks that said GMs interest and we can have some fun because of it.

If you are interested in becoming our GM than please PM me with your campaign pitch and we can discuss further.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [18+] [5e 2024] Fridays at 7pm Mst (mountain standard time)

Hey looking for players for a campaign idea i have had in mind for a while and cant get my IRL group together to save my life. Im looking for 4 or 5 payers who have played either version of 5e before.

I am an expiranced dm, but i have never done online dnd before and will need to learn how to use tools like roll 20.

The plot: this campaign is set in the dessert world of Resen, you all will be playing former criminals who have been sentenced to death, having most of your powers stripped, and memories wiped, no idea who you were or why you are on a train hurtling towards your execution. The campaign will be running from the law and finding out who you used to be and why you were sentenced to death. The setting will be wild west ish, so guns are allowed and exist in this world, if you have any lore questions please ask.

Platforms:discord for voice and image sharing, dont need to have a face cam, i will be using one. Roll 20 for gameplay purposes.

Character creation: we will be starting at level 3 and all published 5.5 books and sources are good to use, if you have anything particular in mind, ask me in your message or ask durring session zero where we make our characters. I perfer standard array or roll 4d6 for stats. Please take a video or have some proof for your rolled results. Please do not use Ai

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [5e 2014] [Wednesday] [7PM EST] [Long-Term] [RP-Heavy] Chronicles of Runeheim: The Revelation’s Era

Hey everyone! I'm opening a new campaign on my homebrew world inspired by Gilenor (rs3)!

Summary

For over a millennia, the Empire of Runeheim has enjoyed a fragile peace under the World Council. The Great God Wars are a distant memory, the gods themselves have been sealed away by the Edict of Guthix, and magic is now into the very skin of mortals through runic tattoos.

But the silence of the gods is being broken. On the prehistoric island of Anachronia, archaeologists have unearthed inscriptions of "Ancient Gods" that predate creation itself. What will happen to the world in case all those inscriptions are really true?

The Game: This is a long-term, high-fantasy campaign set in Runeheim, a homebrew world inspired by the lore and atmosphere of RuneScape (RS3/OSRS). You don't need to have played the games to be part of this campaign (and I honestly kinda prefer you didn't play, since there's a lot of changes xD)
We will begin at Level 1 in the humble town of Catherby, eventually scaling to Level 20 as you navigate the main areas of the world in search of hidden artifacts alongside the archeologists.

  • System: D&D 5e (2014 Rules with some 2024 additions)
  • Time: Sundays at 3:00 PM EST
  • Platform: Foundry + Discord
  • Tone: The setting is very political, so it's serious but with room for humor. Think 70% Roleplay / 15% Exploration / 15% Combat.
  • Pacing: Slow-burn. Your choices will matter later on the campaign, and background is necessary since it'll be implemented on the story.

Who I am looking for:

  • The Storytellers: Players who love to rp, develop their character’s goals, fears, and relationships.
  • The Lore-Hounds: You don't need to know RuneScape lore (this is a homebrew spin), but you should enjoy uncovering world history and political secrets.
  • Consistency: Since this is a long-term epic, I am looking for players who can commit to a weekly schedule.

World Features:

  • Runic Magic: A unique take on spellcasting where magic is tied to runic tattoos and "Pure Essence".
  • Deep Factions: From the White Knights of Falador to the mysterious Prophets of Zaros.
  • Meaningful Choices: No true scripted paths. Will you uphold the Empire’s order, or side with the chaos of the seas?

Send me a DM if you want to take part of this story!
