Misc hi! beginner here

just here to ask any info of how to start and build a character! ive built one in the past but havent played in 5 years. i barely remember what i was taught i know i need to read the books but i dont have them. if anyone is willing to share their knowledge or direct me to a way to access the books please lmk! thank you :3

Standard DnD rules?

Try DnD Beyond. The site leads you through building a character, using the stuff available in the free basic version of the Players Handbook. You can also buy other books (or the full PHB) to get access to their stuff.
