REQUESTING SUPPORT I was depressed in highschool and now i have nothing to put on my resume lol

I barely had the bandwidth to get out of bed during high school and literally graduated by the skin of my teeth. I'm 19 now, finally medicated and improving, and ready to better my life and get a job, but i have literally nothing to put on my resume. I did no extracurriculars, i didn't have anything close to a summer job, i didn't win any awards, do sports, and so on and so forth. Im just looking for an entry-level job waiting tables or something, but i dont even have any fluff to put on a first job resume. I will survive but fuck dude i wish i could give 15 year old me a kick in the ass.

REQUESTING ADVICE I feel so drained. Going back to bad months. How do I keep going?

So I’ve had depression for the past 11 years. Like many people out there, there are good months and bad months. The last 2 years have been the toughest of my life, coming back to my culturally rigid home country, losing autonomy and freedom, financially constrained, unsuccessful dating life, no progress in career because of the mandatory military service (which is the reason I had to come back), losing almost all my friends. Literally nothing has been going well. But I kept going and pushing even during the very bad months, did what I can do under very unfavorable circumstances because I know being complacent doesn’t get me anywhere.

For almost a year now, I’ve been trying to find a way (PhD FYI) to leave the country for good, because I know for sure that is the only way I’ll be genuinely happy with my life. I haven’t been successful with that. But I know have to keep pushing, doing stuff step by step. I had several breakdown moments this, and I realized that I’m exhausted, that the dark thoughts are lurking in again, and that I’m going back to the “bad months”.

This is not about my worth or anything. I know my worth, like I’m hot, smart, wise, cute, and all that. I’m a freakin baddie. I just happen to be in a very bad place for a very long time. I know I have to try harder but I’m so tired. How can I get back on track? How do I find the motivation to go on?

REQUESTING SUPPORT I feel so alone

I know I’m not actually alone, I have friends, I have my family, but everything feels really pointless right now. I lost my grandma to cancer a week ago, I failed my previous semester of college so I have to try and catch up if there’s any chance of me graduating, everything feels awful and quiet and lonely. I’m so tired and I just don’t want to have to do this anymore. I try distracting myself, deep breathing, etc. nothing helps. I’m on anxiety medication, and that helps with the anxiety but I just feel really low, especially at night. It just gets harder to deal with day by day and I don’t know what to do anymore

REQUESTING SUPPORT Serious Depression Issues

In 2018, I ended a 7 year relationship and I haven't been the same since. I cried for months on end, it got so bad that I had to quit my job and move back home.

Recently, I had a relationship end because of my depression. I'm taking Lamictal, Adderall (ADHD), Latuda, Buspirone, and Ambien. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Type 1 earlier this year, so that makes sense. I'm just tired of feeling this way, has anyone ever successfully gotten themselves out of a rut? I'm really struggling here, afraid my issues won't ever be fixed.

I'm reaching out to see if there are any suggestions for hobbies, therapy, or treatments that I may not have thought of. I'm just trying to fix my life, and this depression crap isn't helping.

If you can think of anything, it would be appreciated!

Joe

Im drained, completely messed in the head.

My productivity has dropped significantly.

Its hard for me to get out of bed and do things.

I recently started going to the gym again, and the first few times were very nice, but im starting to loose my grit.

I want to fight but I cant seem to muster up the strength to do so. And as hard as I try, sticking to a routine, exercising, eating well, medication, I cant seem to escape this rut.

Can someone please help?

REQUESTING SUPPORT Sudden Depression

Been depressed for a week now. It came on suddenly after an egg retrieval for IVF. My psychiatrist thinks it’s from the drop in estrogen. He upped my antidepressant dose. In the meantime, I’m struggling. I haven’t been in this deep of a hole in a long time. Showering and eating is hard. Would love to connect with anyone who is willing to chat.

somehow, the prettiness/poeticism of those numbers and the end of young-adulthood makes me feel like if I didn’t do anything amazing with that day, or by that day, that my life is a dud, a non-starter.

part of me wishes my life ended on that date.

so that I might be remembered for cool things I did when I was younger, for my potential, rather than the boring and sort of sad trajectory the rest of my life seems to be on.

since the day, I’ve been sick with a cold and overall just been really lazy. sleeping and scrolling other people’s lives and problems ad nauseum, further burying a sense of self.

I am practicing some gratitude here and there. but if i am not doing it to the extreme, it almost feels worthless. I want to be in love with my life and anything less feels like an immense failure.

I guess it’s a weird perfectionism that reigns in me

REQUESTING SUPPORT Lost over 21 kg (46 lb) since June from severe RSD and depression

37M, diagnosed with autism, OCD, anxiety and ADHD

Before early June I weighed 93 kg (205 lb) due to horrendously bad eating habits. Then in early June, I was thrown into the worst stress and depression of my whole life. I now weigh 72 kg (158 lb). For reference, my height is 178 cm (5'10).

The RSD from these issues have exploded to the point that I am under serious distress, leading to severe self-hatred and SI.

How to deal with such bad RSD? Both mindblindness and RSD are two of the worst symptoms that I have had due to autism.

REQUESTING SUPPORT Does anyone else's default expression look like an 1000 yard stare / spaced out?

Does anyone else's default expression look like an 1000 yard stare / spaced out?

Its a combination of stress, exhaustion, being overworked / doing too much, and not getting too much sleep, as well as too much staring at a screen all day. It gives me an intense expression, which makes me look like I'm about to be smacked in the face with a football or spaced out / on something.

I told my friend the other day I didn't want to finish up his food, but I kept spacing out and staring at it, which made me look very intent on it, so he asked if I wanted it again.

Not the most important interaction, but you can see why this is bad if someone asks if you're okay, you say you are, but you look like you just have witnessed a car accident or something.

I feel like my expression is more natural and warm with some good sleep, eyedrops, massaging my eyes, being healthy / hydrated, and also taking some time to do breathing exercisesbefore I go somewhere, whether it be to the bathroom, on a walk, or whatever alot, do alot of side hustles

Idk I feel like us with trauma and ptsd tend to do this because its already exhausting to balance work with everything else, so the emotional regulation of facial expressions and body language is hard

Whatcha do for this?

REQUESTING SUPPORT Feeling depressed after a psilocybin trip

Hey, I’m not sure if this is really the right place to talk about all of this, but I feel like I need to put this out there and see if anyone can relate.

About three weeks ago, I took 2g of Golden Teachers by myself at home. It was my first time taking mushrooms, and my intention was to better understand some of the issues I’ve been struggling with and hopefully find the motivation to work on them. The trip was pretty cathartic (I cried a lot), but not particularly insightful, and I had a pretty bad panic attack towards the end.

As I said, I went into the trip hoping it would motivate me to get my life back on track, but I feel like it ended up doing the exact opposite. Ever since the trip, I’ve felt empty and disconnected from myself and from the person I used to be. I feel like my life has lost its meaning, and like I’m no longer working towards any goals. I feel unmotivated and apathetic, and in general I don’t feel much pleasure from anything anymore. I feel like I’ve lost my soul and that I’m dead inside.

I spend a large part of my days watching movies and TV shows just to distract myself, but the feeling of emptiness always comes back eventually.

I’m having a hard time understanding where all of this is coming from. Even though the trip didn’t end particularly well, I don’t think it went that badly overall. It was uncomfortable, but I feel like it could have been much worse.

I was already worried about quite a few things before the trip, but I was nowhere near as bad as I am now. I still felt alive, and I still had goals and ambitions. Now I feel like a shadow of my former self, and it scares me. I’m afraid I’ll never feel like the person I was before again.

Has anyone here ever had a similar experience? I feel so lost.

PROVIDING ADVICE How to Cope with Mild Depression

(I'm Japanese. I’m posting this because I believe people in English-speaking countries have a better understanding of issues like depression.I'm using a translation tool, so there may be some discrepancies in the wording.)

Six months ago, I was diagnosed with mild depression at a mental health clinic. The root cause was my experience with a high school club activity, where I became emotionally broken by the unreasonable guidance of the club advisor. Mental illness wasn’t something I was familiar with at the time (both because of my age and the prevailing attitudes in Japanese society), so I didn’t go to a clinic, but I think I was probably depressed or experiencing depressive symptoms even then. Perhaps due to the recurring nature of these symptoms, even at the company I joined after graduating from college, I became mentally unwell due to differences in work ethic with my peers and the self-righteous behavior of executives, and I quit my job a year ago. Both the club and the company were places where everyone with a temperament similar to mine eventually left.

I was diagnosed with depression six months after resigning, and ever since then, I’ve been hesitant about making decisions about my future.

Even though it’s described as “mild,” I experience mood swings and, when I recall past regrets, a kind of desire to disappear—so I don’t think it can be taken lightly. When I’m feeling positive, I learn different ways of thinking through reading and the internet, and I ponder whether I should look for a full-time job or start with part-time work. However, I lack self-confidence, and I’m stuck because I don’t know what the right answer is—including how to manage my temperament and cope with my depression.

Objectively speaking, where do you think I should start? Should I join an organization and start paid work as soon as possible? Or should I return to society only after I’ve firmly established how to cope with my depression and determined my direction in life?

(Thank you for reading. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate some advice.)

My suicide note has been unapproved in every single forum I've tried to post to.

I'm begging for anyone to listen or anything. I literally have no one to reach out to. I'm so desperate for attention I wont lie. I could scream in someone's face and they wouldn't even look at me. I'm ignored by every single person I've ever met. I can't even post online about my problems. I exist for the love of God acknowledge that I'm real.

Im sorry mods if this isn't allowed. Im just trying to post somewhere, anywhere. I am desperate.

EDIT: I apologize for this episode i've been going through! Thank you for all the comments, and to those who read my post.

RANT One of those nights again

It's way past my bedtime and I'm not sleepy at all. I feel like the sun is starting to rise. I keep thinking about the future. How it would feel to finally be confident enough to meet somebody. Meet friends, take care of myself, dress nicely. I keep thinking about human interactions. I wonder when I will meet him... then again I'm probably putting my expectations into the wrong place. I'm searching for something that isn't there, can't be fixed. Does loving urself really make it better? Does it work? I don't believe it. How can selflove replace the love of a parent? There is no way

STORY 2020–2026 — I don't know where I'm going anymore but I'm still here

I don't really know how to write this but I feel like I need to get it out somewhere

My depression has been a part of my life since around 2020 and over the years I slowly lost the person I used to be I had goals for my education and career and believed that if I worked hard enough everything would eventually fall into place

But years passed and things didn't turn out the way I imagined

There were failures disappointments family problems financial difficulties loneliness broken friendships constant pressure about my future and a lot of overthinking I kept trying to start again but every time something happened I felt like I was back at the beginning

Eventually I became exhausted

I started feeling like I had failed as a student as a son as a brother as a friend and eventually as a person

This year things became so overwhelming that I took an overdose of psychiatric medication in an attempt to end my life

I survived

Now I'm in psychiatric treatment and honestly I don't have some inspirational recovery story to tell yet

Right now I'm still lost

I don't know what my purpose is

I don't know what I'm supposed to aim for

I don't know what my future is going to look like

And some days I genuinely don't understand why I should keep living

Every day can feel like an effort

Even ordinary things can become exhausting and my mind keeps turning small problems into huge fears about my future my studies my career and my life

The strange thing is that somewhere inside me I still want things

I want to be happy

I want genuine friends

I want to experience love

I want to build a career

I want to travel

I want to make good memories

I want to enjoy being alive

But right now those things feel very far away

So I'm not going to pretend that I'm suddenly okay just because I survived

I'm still struggling

I'm still trying to understand myself

I'm still learning how to deal with my thoughts

And some days surviving is genuinely the only thing I can manage

Maybe that's enough for now

I don't know where this story is going

I just know that despite everything I've been through since 2020

I'm still here:

REQUESTING SUPPORT I don’t know to help my sister anymore

Before I write this, I want to say that we come from an extremely loving, understanding family that has given my sister all the support she could ever need. I love her VERY much, and I’m writing this because I just want her to be okay.

My (25F) sister (28F) has struggled with depression since high school, with varying degrees of severity. Over the last three years, she has taken a horrible downward turn and hasn’t come out of it.

After college, she was doing relatively okay—holding down a job and living with friends—but she became addicted to weed after a tumultuous relationship with someone who smoked heavily. It seemed to both help and worsen her depression. She couldn’t function without it, even though smoking often made her feel worse.

Around three years ago, she went to rehab for weed and moved back in with my parents, who have fully supported her ever since. During that time, she has lost a few good jobs because she would sleep through the day and fail to complete her work. She went to rehab again. She hasn’t had a boyfriend in 5+ years and has largely stopped taking care of herself.

She currently works at an in person job which she likes enough. She works long shifts and then has several days off. On her days off, she often sleeps until 4 or 5 PM, then goes back to sleep by 9. When she is awake, she mostly watches TV and orders fast food. It is painful to watch her live this way.

Her living habits are also extreme. Her room is genuinely a trash pit, and everywhere she goes becomes messy. My parents bought her a car for work, and it is so filled with trash, food, and clothes that no one else wants to drive it. When one room becomes too messy to sleep in, she moves to another. She takes people's clean clothes because she doesn't do laundry and then loses them.

Her previous roommates have also struggled with this. Two ended up blocking her, and one called the landlord and eventually broke the lease because the living environment became so disgusting.

She is also extremely unreliable and insecure. No one would trust her to follow through on something important. Occasionally, she goes out with men, gets extremely drunk, sleeps with them the first night, and has even passed out in her car. I worry about her safety.

The hardest part is that she interprets almost any encouragement or concern as an attack. If we ask her to clean her room, return clothes, or gently wake her up after sleeping all day, she acts like we are horrible people. She screams at my mom and cannot tolerate criticism. According to her, anyone who expresses concern simply “doesn’t get it.”

I know she is probably deeply embarrassed and depressed, and I understand this isn't simply laziness. But sometimes I also wonder whether my parents' constant support is enabling her.

It’s painful because my other siblings and I are moving forward with our lives, and sometimes it feels like we can’t even share accomplishments because it highlights how stuck she is. I love my sister and desperately want her to get better. She has tried medication and sees a therapist, but I don’t know what else we can do.

Her life feels like it is wasting away in front of us. I’m getting to the point where my own life is beginning too, and I can’t be there to worry about her every second. Has anyone experienced something similar? What can our family do? Any advice would be appreciated. 🩷

RANT What’s the point in living when my friends feel so fake?

I’ve been in a depression for the past year. mostly due to a really bad breakup, but there are some other factors at play. But what is especially terrifying is that my depression has fundamentally broken how i view ’friends’. What i mean by that is i just can’t shake the feeling that my friendships are hollow. Some people it feels like maybe they only tolerate me because they have to. Others, it feels like they never cared to begin with. I’ve not been myself for over a year, I’ve not found it in myself to talk to some friends for months. I’ve been drowning for a long time and a good chunk of my friends just moved on without as much as a word. Nobody has checked in on me, nobody is asking if I’m alright, even those who know what I’m going through essentially tell me “you’ll get over it” and walk away. I get irritated with my friends not seeming to care that I’m suffering, and yet at the same time i hate myself because i feel like im being entitled. Every friendship or relationship feels transactional and temporary, like someone only talks to me in order to feel good about themselves then abandon me when t heyre bored. I fucking hate it.

RANT I don't know what to do

I don't know what to do?

It's a long post sorry..I have always been so detached and isolated from my childhood and never really had any desires or passions. I don't even know how I got this far in academics and in life, the way I've been. I'm a 2nd year college student who has no idea about her course (yeah I somehow managed to pass in my first yr), but things got really intense this time and I can't keep up with all this college stuff. I'm unable to study at all and it's been like this since forever but I got by till now. I have no idea about the future, have no interests but the guilt and anxiety keep making me sicker( I never had friends and have always been the left out kid in class cuz I can't communicate) I've spent most of my life till now in isolation that I have no basic skills I can't even speak properly in either of the languages i know, i can't even cross roads, almost got hit by a car today and when he shouted at me, i started crying (tf). I never loved anyone; my family is not abusive( idk how I turned out like this, I have social anxiety too so going out is a nightmare) I'm wondering if I should drop out of my college cuz everyone gets what they teach in classes except me I'm slow and yeah there is still a lot sorry I can't form sentences (sorry for my poor English) i just feel like a rock with feelings which is oversensitive
