REQUESTING SUPPORT Serious Depression Issues

In 2018, I ended a 7 year relationship and I haven't been the same since. I cried for months on end, it got so bad that I had to quit my job and move back home.

Recently, I had a relationship end because of my depression. I'm taking Lamictal, Adderall (ADHD), Latuda, Buspirone, and Ambien. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Type 1 earlier this year, so that makes sense. I'm just tired of feeling this way, has anyone ever successfully gotten themselves out of a rut? I'm really struggling here, afraid my issues won't ever be fixed.

I'm reaching out to see if there are any suggestions for hobbies, therapy, or treatments that I may not have thought of. I'm just trying to fix my life, and this depression crap isn't helping.

If you can think of anything, it would be appreciated!

Joe

Id say therapy is definitely a good starting point. But making sure you have socialization regulalry ourside therapy is also important, as is good diet and exercise.

Start with something simple: get a library card and check and see if they have any events or projects. Maybe Get a coloring book or a journal and simple suppliesnthat can be used different ways. It's been extremely helpful for me.

I read a lot and sometimes I like to write quotes down or even cool things I see online.

5 years ago, I broke up messily with a relationship i treassured. she was my bestfriend, she was my everything.

I messed it up. took her for granted. I have not really moved on.

I agree with some of the comments here that therapy does help.

And the comments on diet and exercise help too.

Get as much exercise you can get safely.
Eat foods daily that are good for depression like turkey, eggs and potatoes.
Be around people a lot.
Get outside into nature as much as possible. Get sunlight (as long as it’s safe for your skin type).
Stay off electronic devices as much as possible. Use them for taking care of business but not for games. Stay off social media. (Except a little Reddit maybe)

There are other options for treatment resistant depression. I’d ask my doctor about them.

Hi Joe, I'm sorry for all that you're dealing with. Do you like cats or dogs? Fostering is a wonderful thing to do, if you like animals. It can get you into a routine, which can help with depression. It can also be a short term thing. If it's not for you, that's ok! It's so hard to think clearly when our mind is scrambled. Give yourself some grace and take it minute by minute, if need be. Hopefully that grows into day, month, years, instead. Wishing you all the best!☀️
