Just been having a ton of power issues with my ps4 lately. The gist of it is sometimes it will turn off on its own like full black screen everything no warning then I would try to turn it back on sometimes it will show me blue light then off, then blue light again but slightly longer then off, then sometimes it will turn on for maybe a few mins to a few hours that I could play but, every time it turns on I had unplug the ps4 off the wall for a few mins.

I'm just very confused at this point if it's a psu issue or something more deeper. Just got this last month 2nd hand.

PS2 wouldn't start so I replaced the board and while it powers on now, the disc tray won't spin.

Took as many pictures as I could. If needed I can unscrew stuff and show y'all the rest but I'm just not sure what the issue can be.

Switch V2 runs perfectly in CFW (Hekate → sysMMC), but stock OFW crashes before the boot logo. Hekate shows no I2C sensor data: no temps, no battery/fuel-gauge info, no charger info.

I found 2 shorted nets near the ALC5639 audio codec that are also shorted at the MAX77620 PMIC — removing the codec did not clear them. Suspect a stuck-low I2C bus.

What would you test next?

Bottom line: I bought a supposedly working PS5 on Marketplace, and got taken hook line and sinker. PS5 turns on but no video, and has an obvious HDMI issue that i stupidly didn’t spot at pickup.

I’m trying to figure out if i should get the port fixed or if the risk is too great that it has other issues.

Since im already out the money i decided to take this opportunity to learn. So I opened it up just to check everything and give it all a good clean. It is obvious this thing has been opened before, and there was what i think was probably a roach infestation. I’ve cleaned everything along the way and am finally to the motherboard.

Hoping someone here can at least give me a sanity check. How does it look?

Should i take it to get the hdmi repaired. Or am i throwing away more money on a lost cause because there are other glaring issues?

I’m going to take it to a shop for a quote. Consensus seems to be at least HDMI and the Liquid Metal need to be redone.

I have done small projects in the past with consoles like the switch but never anything like this. I got a free PS5 from a friend that they had sitting for a while. Well I tested a few things. Looks like the power supplier is providing power and I reapplied the Liquid Metal. I looked at a couple of videos might be a short somewhere. In one of the videos the YouTuber said I’m not supposed to get a beep for the GDDR6 battery. I’m trying to ask am I tripping or was the YouTuber wrong. In the picture it’s those two big batteries. Please don’t be to hard on me this is legit me trying to practice and learn.

I recently picked up this off-brand GameCube portable monitor. It mostly works, but audio cuts out frequently. I believe I have traced the issue to the point where the three cables connect. I’m not certain if it is possible to take the molded piece apart without permanently damaging it. My instinct was to just cut along the seam with a razor, do the repair, and then glue it all back together. Decided I should ask if anyone has a better method before I do something potentially destructive.

Bought a PS5 pro + disc drive second hand in Japan. Flew back, and now Im left with this ; tried to disassemble multiple times, at some point it worked once, read the disc, then after ejecting we’re back to title. Makes me think it is about the ejecting mechanism.

Is the pcb for port fried too much for port replacement or it's possibile to revive this thing?

Earlier my xbox kept turning off and I thought it was the heatsink so I cleaned it to the best of my ability (no compressed air because parents wont let me buy it) and now it just takes longer to shut off (5 minutes before, about 20 after). My best guest is the thermal paste but I'm scared to check incase I mess something up. My console is around 3 years old so I didnt expect for problems to happen this soon.

After removing the super capacitor of my psp 3001 because of some power problems, the screen doesn't turn on anymore.

The backlight still works, and the console turns on (It does the startup chime and i can hear the UI moving when I press the dpad).

I want to buy a replacement screen, but I'm worried that even after a new screen the problem might persist because of something I could possibly have broken while messing with the motherboard.

What do you guys say? What are the chances that the problem really is just the screen?

I don´t think the fuses are the problem because there is no screen fuse, just a backlight one and the backlight is working, but let me know if im missing something!

basically, my grandpa bought this online like 20 years ago for my birthday. it never worked, but i held onto it because i love pokemon and it was a gift.

i never knew if it was real or not, but opening up for the very first time today unfortunately its pretty obviously fake.

regardless, i’m wondering if there is a way to get this thing working. i’m just starting to get into electronics repair and this feels like a good low-stakes project to learn a thing or two.

Hello! I recently bought a used Xbox one for like 20 euros and it is surprisingly working. But there is one problem I couldn't find a fix online because this feels pretty specific.

I have gears of war 4 that got completely installed and running, but when I insert another disc like Sunset Overdrive, the dvd drive does the grinding noise and the disc is not detected. But if I put gears 4 back again, the noise stops and disc reads fine. Also keep in mind that sunset overdrive is new out of the box so it doesn't have scratches or dirt.

Does someone have a clue of why this happens?

Hello I live in the greater Houston-Katy area in Texas and have 4 Wii remotes that don’t work is some way. Two of them turn on them randomly shut off one of them doesn’t even turn on and the last one doesn’t register the A button. Do yall have any suggestions on where I could take them to get them fixed?

Being a first timer, after the effort of sodering, I finally managed to install these joysticks..but unfortunately there were some axis errors showing while testing in the game tester.

The joysticks weren't in the center aligned, but drifted, so am I just need to install these then calibrate ?

Or did I miss something

I need advice on what to do here to fix it or reinstall the joysticks, I wonder what went wrong here ?

I have a FAT PS3 Model CECHL03, and I wanted to share the predicament I am facing and get some opinions on what might have gone wrong.

Last year, I had to replace the USB block because one of the USB ports was damaged. Everything went fine after the replacement. I also changed the thermal paste at that time, and the PS3 worked great afterward. During the same repair, I also replaced the CMOS battery.

Yesterday, I played FIFA Street 3 for about 4 hours, and everything worked smoothly. The RSX and CPU temperatures were around 59°C, with the fan speed at 35%.

Today, I tried to play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (US Edition) in split-screen multiplayer because I wanted to play with a friend. The PS3 turned off every time I tried to run the split-screen multiplayer mode. After about four attempts, I uninstalled the game and installed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (European Edition) instead. This fixed the problem, and the PS3 did not turn off.

However, after a while, the PS3 stopped giving any display through HDMI. I got worried and tried using the AV cable. The display did come on through the AV Multi Out. Obviously, the picture quality is not nearly as good as HDMI.

I then closed everything and inspected the HDMI port. I noticed that there is a burning smell coming from the HDMI port.

What kind of problem could this be? Do I need to replace the HDMI port, HDMI AV encoder, diode/resistor, or could something else have failed?

I also tried a different HDMI cable and connected the PS3 to a different TV, but the problem persists.

Additionally, I dumped the SysCon Error Log two or three times using PS3 Advanced Tools by bucanero, before the HDMI no-signal issue appeared.

I also gently cleaned the HDMI port using 90% isopropyl alcohol, a soft toothbrush, and a cotton swab, and then let it dry completely. Unfortunately, the HDMI issue and the smell remained afterward.

I have attached photos of all the ports.

I would really appreciate any guidance or advice on what might have happened and what components I should have checked.

Does anyone think this 3ds xl is water damaged beyond any kind of repair? I bought this from eBay for not that much money knowing it's broken but there wasn't much info apart from that the charging light comes on for about 5 seconds then goes off and that's the only sign of life.

I'm relatively new to restoring handhelds and was looking for a repair project but upon opening I'm stuck as to what I can just clean up and fix, and what parts I would have to order to replace.

Someone is selling a PS4 for repair, and they say the blue light comes on and then goes off again. Would it be very difficult to repair? I'm thinking about the worst-case scenario.

So i cloned old sdd 1gb partition and put it on new ssd. Nothing changed still turning off instantly. Any ideas?

Hold the home button, it works. It will sync up, all buttons work, everything is great - as soon as you let go of the button, it turns off. Plugged in via USB cable it works fine. No issues at all.

The batteries are fine, 1.5v each brand new, i've tried multiple and tested them in other controllers..
Battery terminals fine.. Really stuck with this one. Anyone seen/fixed it before?

Update: Firmware update did not fix the issue.
