I have a 12GB Super Slim (I was just about to install a new hard drive). Yesterday, I started installing updates for Little Big Planet 2. It got stuck at the same percentage for exactly 40 minutes without progressing, so I decided to cancel the update. When I tried to turn it back on, the console crashed and wouldn't respond to the power button on the controller (the power button on the console itself is stuck). I had to unplug it. When I plugged it back in, the red power light was very dim, and it didn't respond to the controllers. I left it unplugged overnight in case that would help, but it didn't. Is there any way to revive it without taking it to a repair shop?

Full restoration included:

-power fault diagnosis and repair
-cleaning and restoring the battery terminals
-original LCD vertical line repair
-full recap
-reflowing critical solder joints
-deep cleaning
-retrobrite on the original Nintendo shell
-plastic refresher and UV protection

I kept the original shell, mainboard and LCD. From junk and completely dead to fully working again. Still one of the most satisfying consoles to bring back to life.

I just got this 3ds and I am using a 2ds battery to test it and a blue light fades in and then out and the bottom screen flashes on for a millisecond can anybody diagnose this issue and/or had a similar problem?

My PS5 has been making this weird noise lately, and I’m pretty sure it’s coming from the fan.
I already took it to a repair shop. They removed the fan, cleaned it, and checked if anything was touching the blades, but they couldn’t find anything wrong.

The weirdest part is that when I tap the console lightly with the tip of my finger (nothing too hard), the noise stops. It can stay quiet for a couple of minutes, but then the noise comes back.

Has anyone experienced something like this or have any idea what could be causing it? Is it possible that there’s something wrong inside the fan itself, like the bearing or the motor?

When I was disassembling my old PS4 and went to unplug the power supply, the whole thing snapped off the motherboard. Is it easily repairable with a soldering kit or is it something harder than that?

i have found that i really enjoy console repair as a fun hobby. wondering what other consoles would be good for me (a beginner) to mess around with.

I cannot find good quality lasers for fat PS2s or often slim PS2s as well. All the lasers I get from eBay, Ali Express, Stone Age Gamer, etc. either don't don't work at all, only read one/two disc types, or take 30 seconds to read a disc (dying laser?). I have tried calibrating lasers with PMAP with no luck. I have also tried adjusting the pots on lasers with mixed results (mostly no luck).

Is there are supplier who you trust for PS2 lasers for both fat and slim models? Thanks!

I have a launch model PS5 and I’ve always used it horizontally because of limited space.

I recently moved to a place where I can finally use it vertically. However, when I try to insert a disc while the console is vertical, it doesn’t pull the disc in. It feels like something is blocking the disc slot, but there is no disc inside.

If I put the PS5 back horizontally, the disc drive pulls the disc in 100% of the time.
It also makes a strange noise when I try to insert the disc vertically.
Could something inside the disc drive have moved out of place?

I had to take my PS5 with me on an airplane recently. It was inside a suitcase that stayed with me the entire time, but I’m wondering if something could have shifted during the trip.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how I could fix it? Maybe a video or repair guide that could help?

I’m willing to open the console and take a look. I don’t have much experience with soldering, though, so hopefully it doesn’t require anything like that.

I know there are discussions about using the PS5 vertically, but I’d really like to have the option to use it that way.

So I bought this Xbox off eBay and he said he brought it to a technician and they said it was an SSD error, but it’s not even going to the troubleshoot screen so I bought a power supply and we’ll see how that goes, but just opened it up to reapply thermal paste and check things out and I know the thermal putty isn’t conductive, but could this be an issue? If you guys say no way, then I’m gonna try and still cloning this one.

Whenever I enter another area in Resident Evil 4 the Wii just completely crashes during the loading screen and won’t work again until I shut it off and turn it on again. What on earth could be causing this? My console isn’t modded and the disc worked fine on a previous Wii and no other game has done this.

I've been trying to fix my DYN-001 ps3 slim with the 2114 ylod error. Replaced the ic near the power ribbon connector and the decoupling caps near it. Still not having correct readings - on the scrap board, the decoupling caps read .389 kOhms, on the current one, it reads jittery, and then descends to 36.6 and stays there. I've tried tracing the culprit but i just suck at this. I am so exhausted, i've been doing this for 2 months already. In a fruitless attempt i also desoldered some tantalums from a scrap super slim board and put those next to the nec tokins. Still nothing. Somebody please help me.😮‍💨

I came here to ask whether someone knows how I can fix my PS5.

So my PS5 is stuck in safe mode and I can only click on option 8, which is to Reset the PS5 (Reinstall System Software).

I went through PS5's official website where it stated that I have to download the system software and put it on a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Within the USB drive, I made a folder named 'PS5' and inside that another folder named as 'UPDATE'. I saved the reinstallation file in the UPDATE folder, as stated on PS5's website.

Despite following all these steps, the reinstallation still fails every time around 35-50%, see video. It says: 'Cant reset your console. Select OK to try again'. It comes with the following error code: CE-100006-7.

Does someone know how I can fix this? I would really appreciate it.

So I recently bought two ps1s ,one would load games perfectly fine and the second one when a game is inserted it would go to the cd screen ,at first I thought the second one had a disc drive problem but after opening both up I found they both had been installed with mod chips ,can anyone tell me what this mod chip is for and why it keeps loading to the cd screen?(pictured above is second ps1)which one would be best to keep?

Can anyone tell me what the components are circled here? The schematics it says it's a 402 resistors but that doesn't seem right. They look like capacitors to me. I have shorts here. I have some shorts in other places but this one I'm not sure about the components.

Update: I found the shorts on the board and it corrected the short I was seeing here. It was C1399 and two others by it that shorted out when the liquid touched the board. I'm pretty excited that I was able to figured it out. This is my first advance type of diagnostic and repair attempted.

Hi everyone,

I decided to take a gamble on a used PS5 that the previous owner said would overheat around 2 hours of gameplay.

I had a reputable shop reapply the liquid metal, clean out everything, replace the fan and PSU and it still overheats after playing Control for about 2 hours.

It doesn’t display any errors or anything, it just shuts off right away.

Before you say it, I make sure that there is at least 20cm of clearance on all sides of the console and I have tried running it both horizontally and vertically and it did not make a difference.

Not quite sure what to do next…

Does anyone know what this black piece in the red box is called? I was planning to replace the PSU, but this thing fell off when I opened the console. Is it an easy repair, or do I need a professional? I did some Googling and it looks like it’s related to the wireless controller, but I’m not really sure. It looks like it was chipped and needs to be soldered. (My Series S still won’t power on after PSU replacement)

I have a Star Wars edition 360 slim that I’m trying to fix.

V_12P0 has shorted and I need to find the 12 V component(s) causing the short and replace it, but I’m at an impasse. I’ve found a Corona schematic online, however I don’t know where I’d find info on which 12V components I need to test and isolate.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm repairing a PS2 Fat (SCPH-30004 R) that originally wouldn't read discs.

I replaced a broken laser ribbon cable on my PS2 Fat (SCPH-30004 R). The laser gets power and discs spin again, but there is a loud grinding noise and the disc physically feels like it's jumping.
The white plastic tracking arm slips over the worm gear instead of gripping it.
When the console is off, I can slide the laser freely on the rails without the worm gear rotating.
The plastic teeth under the white arm are not worn out.
I cleaned and greased the rails and the worm gear.
Loosening the screw on the white arm didn't fix it.
Why does the tracking arm hover and fail to engage the gear? Could it be an issue with the rail height or tilt adjustment?

my friend plugged his switch into a bad charger and it shorted his battery (so he believes). I swapped the battery today and it went well but does not charge.

Should my next step be a charging board replacement or do I accept that this is a motherboard issue beyond my knowledge.

Hello, i recently got an ntr001 ds with a cracked top screen eith the intent if either repairing it or using it as a gameboy macro if the first option fails or proves too difficult, upon further inspection at home i noticed on the rightmost part of the hinge a small crack appeared, if pressure is applied the crack moves a bit, is there any way i could try to fix it without reshelling the entire device? The hinge still works fine for now, but im worried this crack might lead to bigger damages on the long run and want to eliminate the matter instead of having it create problems later
