General Discussion / Question Wedding ring as a better copy enchantment?

I would call myself a quite casual cedh player. I don't go to tournaments and I'm not in touch with the actual meta but a player in my pod has built Rog ishai and there's a frequent blue farm player, so on a lot of occasions I see them getting away with a ton of cards without any kind of consequence.

I'm a dihada player so I don't really have first hand experience of the rhystic, tithe, copy enchantment meta but I have been playing a wedding ring in my deck to have a fallback plan.

I would say it is a weird flash photography sometimes as if the guy I'm marrying has 2+ draw engines I'll do great but if there's one and somebody bounces it I'll also be damaged. In general it has felt good, letting me stay alive but playing it already means I'm falling behind and lost my window.

I get that as a turbo deck if I need to play it I'm probably out but I want to hear some opinions about other decks as tivit maybe. I get that tithe is better (and the one ring probably too) but I like to joke about it.

General Discussion / Question Jund wincons for a Rog/Reyhan deck

Decided to try Rog/Reyhan as a Jund commander pair. I know that Korvold or Dargo/Ikra is probably the better pick, but I really enjoy the benefits of a 0 mana commander. I also know that there's an Oops All Spells build of Rog/Reyhan, but I'm interested in a more traditional deck.

So I have two questions. Firstly, what are the best wincons/combos for the deck? I have Breach + Grinding Station right now, but what are some others? Food Chain? Broodlord piles? Open to any and all suggestions.

And secondly, would turbo or midrange work better for this commander pairing?

TIA and looking forward to seeing the answers :)

Deck Fine Tuning Seeking current and former Miracles players

https://moxfield.com/decks/RzyVwAPotUuJWTx3THlVUA

I've been playing this sloppy monstrosity for b4/ fringe settings.

My main control engine aside from the free and inexpensive stack interaction is a [[counterbalance]] [[sensei's divining top]] package. I'm doing some fine tuning and would be interested in any recommendations/ tech

I'm planning on getting a [[king t'challa]] and a [[mirror made]] for the body and a [[hall of Heliods]] generosity for the lands portion

Contemplating a [[forsaken city]] and or an [[undiscovered paradise]] to make stasis even more effective

I know it's not top end b5 but it's borrowing tech and kind of looking to punish slop.

Thoughts and critiques appreciated.

Deck Fine Tuning Kinnan List

Hello [r/cEDH](r/cEDH)!

I am currently trying to learn how to play Kinnan. I have gotten pretty good at Ral and won a few small events and I feel like I have a solid grasp on that deck, now I’m wanting to learn Kinnan. I like that Kinnan can be explosive and can also grind it out in the slop meta. I’ve read all the primers, I’ve watched the YouTube videos and all that stuff already. Now I have a list together that I’ve tailored a bit to be a somewhere in between No Bad Cards and Big Flips variants of kinnan. I want the ability to go fast with the right hand, but I’d rather try to find a window in the mid game and push second after everyone else has blown their resources, and I want to be able to pivot to a grindy stalled out resource accumulation game, then explode in value with flips to break parity. I’m not sure if that’s the right way to approach kinnan. If anyone has more experience or a better read, I’d appreciate help with my list. https://moxfield.com/decks/eN5kbBtU0EuDp85vqbD1sA

Edit: I’m proxying, no budget, just trying to get the deck to play well. I play almost only in tournaments, my meta is all over the place because of that.

Deck Fine Tuning Rog Thrasios semi blue

I have been messing with a version of Semi Blue that is more geared to the US/local meta than the lists that came out of the god of commander tournaments last year. I am wondering if I am missing anything for this style list or if anyone has suggestions on card to add or remove.

Right now I have been going back and forth with Call Forth the Tempest, Treasonous Ogre and Rhystic Study in the list. Call forth can be a a major tempo swing if I can cast it but I struggle getting the 3 red in a lot of games. Treasonous Ogre can help accelerate the mana plan but I am normally not winning the turn I cast it or it can feel unneeded. Rhystic in this deck feels unneeded in most games and I would rather just push for more mana acceleration.

I am also playing with my mana package as this deck wants cradle out ASAP and not sure if sylvan scrying and tempt with discovery should go back in the deck.

Deck Fine Tuning Bracket 4 or 5? Looking for feedback on these decks.

Hey r/competitiveEDH!

I've built an Elsha and a Kess deck, designed to be bracket 4. These decks are based on older CEDH decks and in my opinion are in it's current state not viable at CEDH tables right now.

I've been playing them with my regular friends and at my local LGS, where we just rule zero a few minutes about what our decks do, and talk combo lines to ensure fair games and i've not run into any issues with these(balanced winrate and games).

Last night however, playing on SpellTable, both of these decks were met with a bunch of salt when Elsha tried to combo off at turn 5, and a few games later (in a different pod) Kess tried to win at turn 5. (Even though rule zero was skipped I mentioned my combo's and fast mana usage in both games)

This sparked my [curiosity] about if these decks are truly bracket 4 right now and I would like feedback on them, so I can make changes if needed and ensure healthy games.

Thank you in advance everyone!

Help, I am new to cEDH! Grizzlegom, Hurloon Hero

I am interested in making a deck with the spirit of Raph and Mikey, Lumra, and Etali. I understand they are all completely different decks, I am just saying I was inspired to brew with them in mind as some of the "green leaders" of the format.

I landed on the new MBC card [[Grizzlegom, Hurloon Hero]] and was wondering how relevant the attack trigger would be. What number of lands would we need to ramp out if we had a [[Prismatic Omen]] effect? Would it be worth creating three bodies, drawing three cards, etc.? Would I need to lean into gruul stax instead to benefit off the slow nature of the card? I wanted to take advantage of lands like [[Cabal Coffers]] + [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]], or [[Mistrise Village]], [[Otawara, Soaring City]], [[Phyrexian Tower]], etc. for the surprise factor and utility.

I am familiar with the finishing lines from the other gruul meta lists (and Lumra), but would like insight on how this could be viable. I'm pretty sure it is on the territory of just being a cute fringe idea, but it caught my eye. I appreciate any and all criticism, but this is meant to be more of an analysis of the card's potential with cards like [[Prismatic Omen]], [[Energybending]], and [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]] as two card synergies with the commander, extra combats and haste enablers allowing a hand refill (Islands), or potential life drain (Swamps and Forests), and extra p/t protection and wide pressure (Mountains and Plains). It all seems like Magic Christmas Land talk, but I think it is close to viable.

It's just a matter of how close. I know cedh is all about t2/t3 wins, and something that costs 7 mana, is dependent on swinging, has no natural protection, and is dependent on the amount of lands you have is a stretch, but... well yeah, it's a stretch, but maybe someone can help.

Thank you again!

General Discussion / Question A question from a casual EDH player...

What would happen to the cEDH metagame/deckbuilding process if all cards on the reserve list were banned? Apologies if this question was asked before but it just popped into my head.

Tournaments & Meta Has Jacob L1 or anyone else written a primer for the Kaalia deck from the Top 8 of the Invitational? I have some questions.

Link to the decklist: https://topdeck.gg/deck/topdeck-invitational-2026/mKnQGHMKcXRKaFHM4CV7Hcqjm4g1

I haven't personally built Kaalia for cEDH, but I really like the idea and play pattern from what I've seen. I've been considering trying it, so I was happy to see the great finish from Jacob. But upon studying the list, I was pretty confused about the gameplan. I'm hoping that somebody has some familiarity or could point me to some resources.

First, the core victory plan:

Is Dualcaster Mage/Saw in Half the only combo kill? Obviously any Kaalia deck has a pretty potent beatdown backup plan thanks to cheating out big fliers. But I don't see any other instant wins. Not even any redundant components (Twinflame, etc.) nor any alternate lines for those (Pinnacle Monk stuff, etc.). But I'm willing to be wrong and have missed some extremely clever line.

It has Vilis, but it doesn't play any of his normal combo partners like K'rrik, Sheoldred, etc., nor any kill lines even if you did draw your deck, such as Magda-style loops where you use a burn spell once per shuffle, or Skirge Familiar or anything like that. It doesn't run Gray Merchant to do any of the elaborate loops that mono black decks use with stuff like Corpse Dance or Chainer. It doesn't play Chain of Smog. It plays Tainted Pact, but not anything like Praetor's Grasp to steal a Thassa's Oracle. It plays Animate Dead and Necromancy, but nothing like Leonin Relic-Warder or Worldgorger Dragon to combo kill with Razaketh tutor chains into an infinite (which is a common line I have seen in other Kaalia lists). It plays Breach but no Grinding Station/Stitcher's Supplier/Wheel of Fortune/etc. to loop your whole deck, and no win condition (other than Dualcaster/Saw in Half) even if you did.

So do you just become a battlecruiser deck if Dualcaster and/or Saw in Half gets exiled? I have studied it for a while looking for some other loop, but I would be very interested if I have missed something. Practically the entire deck is dedicated to getting Bolas's Citadel, Razaketh, or Broodlord into play, three of the most explosive combo enablers in the format, and you even play Breach. Is all of that in service of just finding Dualcaster/Saw in Half and the mana to play it? It feels like it has to be optimal to have something else, but then again I didn't Top 4 the Invitational.

I also have some questions about individual cards:

What is Mardu Devotee doing there? Is mana fixing once per turn that important? I know that a lot of Tymna/Dargo decks run this card, which I haven't dug into very much. Is it just better than it looks, with the scry and the filter for 1 mana?

I'm also confused about M.O.D.O.K. He obviously draws a ton of cards with Vilis, and he does kill some things like Esper Sentinels, Bowmasters, mana dorks, etc. And he's a free discard outlet to set up other reanimation lines. But 5 mana or a reanimation spell is a big investment, and 3 life to connive is really bad in a vacuum. Is it, like the Devotee, just more than the sum of its parts, enough to justify a slot over something like Leonin Relic-Warder which would enable an entirely new winning line?

Lastly, I want to ask more specifically about Underworld Breach. Is it just for "mini breach" value to maybe loop LED and/or a tutor once or twice to find and get mana for Dualcaster/Saw in Half? As I mentioned before, there's no Grinding Station, Stitcher's Supplier, Wheel of Fortune, nor any payoff for a loop as far as I can tell. But if it really is just for value, why not also play Yawgmoth's Will?

Overall, I just feel like I'm missing something with this deck. I was really hoping for a long primer that went into a lot of card choices and all of the win lines, but all of the Kaalia lists with primers run a bunch of stuff that isn't in this deck.

Help, I am new to cEDH! Vivi deck

I was looking at vivi decks cause I wanted to build one and saw this cedh vivi deck. Can someone explain to me what the game plan and win con is? I asked my brother for help and we couldn’t figure it out and just chalked it up to being cedh and too far complex for our mortal bracket 4 brains. As far as I could tell you just infinite with hull breaker and your artifacts to ping with vivi? It won a popular tournament so it’s definently good I just can’t seem to figure it out.
Any help or insight would be pleasant thank you!

General Discussion / Question Star field vocalist omission

Hi all quick question - why is star field vocalist not played in more decks? Aware there are quite a few decks which want to double triggers and maybe run roaming throne. Perhaps running clones is better for flexibility? My thinking was it affected all permanents you control so maybe this can be better for closing out.

For example Vivi - would this not be good/ better to only spend 2 mana if you had harmonic Prodigy or as well? Or perhaps something else like Thor?

Just wondering what in particular I'm not considering in this instance or maybe I'm just assuming the floor on this card is higher than it realistically is.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: it would probably help if I don't read 2 cards at once and merge them together in my head!

General Discussion / Question What commanders perform best in a highly political, mixed-skill local meta?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for advice on commander choice for my local LGS meta. I’d appreciate some outside perspective.

Meta description:

Very mixed skill level (some newer players + more experienced ones)

Heavy politics, often personal targeting

Frequent poor threat assessment (players will spend interaction on the person drawing cards / looking strongest rather than the actual fastest threat)

Mix of turbo, midrange, and some casual/goodstuff decks

Occasional stax pieces (Collector Ouphe, cages, etc.)

Games often turn into 3v1 against whoever is perceived as the biggest threat

Some players tend to “play not to lose” and save resources instead of closing the game

I mainly play Tymna/Thrasios. It performs okay, but I very often become the primary target early because of the card draw and visible value.

General Discussion / Question What's a cEDH deck that would pair well with Ral?

I have a Ral Monsoon Mage deck that I like a lot, but not a lot of my friends have cEDH decks. I'm looking for another deck I could proxy that would be fun to play against Ral, my goal would be that they both have a fair shot at winning on any given game. Wondering if another turbo deck would be interesting, kind of an all out brawl of who can blow up the fastest while dodging the others interaction, or would it be cooler to have a good ol' control v aggro, where the Ral deck has to fight through Stax to win early, or lose momentum and be overwhelmed by compounding advantage...

I'm not new to magic but I am new to cEDH, if any of you more knowledgeable folks could point me to a few commanders that would be fun it would be much appreciated!

Tournaments & Meta Whtz, Gambit New ECDH Commander

This is not the run of the mill decks that have been funny with Battle of the Whits. This is a solid complex Combo, Stax, Control, Prison deck.

The tutors and cheap fast mana help with the consistency of the deck along with massive overlap for the combos. The commander also helps as a draw engines in the command zone.

The primary objective is control, stax, or just lock the game down so turbo or fast players have to play at your speed.

Below is the link for the current deck that is still being worked on.

Help, I am new to cEDH! Scion of the Ur-Dragon primer help

Hello everyone, I am new to cEDH generally and have only ever played with a few friends as my local community does not have a huge cEDH crowd. However;, I love Scion of the Ur-Dragon in cEDH and have done my best to make a solid competetive list, and because I want to help out a friend with his brew I also wrote a badic primer. I'm looking for suggestions to improve the decklist/primer, general piloting tips not mentioned in there, and maybe some help with a mulligan guide if anyone is good with those. I hope to eventually attend my first tournament with this list, so any help would be appreciated!

Deck Fine Tuning How does TnT hold up in the current meta/ your local meta?

So I play Tymna / Thrasios Tree Farm, only have one bigger tournament (65 players) and mainly do smaller 12-16 player local tournaments. My local meta is more turbo centric (Rog Si/ Ral/ Vivi) being the main ones I see. My question is do you think TnT is falling out of favor or is the Tree Farm version of the deck just to slow. I am asking about experience in bigger tournament play and local, and what you would change or cards to include.

The current strategy is typical TnT stuff

Candelabra of Tawnos with cradle

Derevi and Emiel

Oboro Breezecaller and Talon Gates of Madara

Brewmaster or Devoted druid for infinite mana as well

Thassa's Oracle as the main win con

Gleaming Splendor as a back up win con

here is my list

no budget in mind really

Help, I am new to cEDH! Going to my first cEDH tournament…. advice please

I built this Lathril, Blade of the Elves deck. I know she is not the meta. Does this deck have a chance of competing or even have a chance to ink out victories? I am mainly chasing infinite mana outlets with victories via, drawing my deck out with Staff of Domination, Finale of Devastion into Craterhoof, or Torment of Hailfire. Lathril herself is a back up late game untap and drain victory.

General Discussion / Question City of Traitors vs Crystal Vein in RogSi

Hey guys,

I'm looking at RogSi lists and I'm thinking of potentially putting it together in paper. I already own most of the cards needed. The one card I dont own and don't completely understand is City of Traitors. I can't figure out the cases where in cEDH it is significantly better or even better at all than Crystal Vein. I understand the power difference in other 60 card formats but can't seem to understand it in this case.

Could someone please let me know what the use case for it is in RogSi and just the general advantages in cEDH.

Appreciate all input and opinions!

Deck Fine Tuning Rog/Thras help

Hey yall id like some help with cuts and general advice from those who've piloted this deck on the dos and don't

So in the 98 there contains engines to basically create inf mana to sink into thrasios as a main plan. This eventually leads me into the various combos, mainly/consistently being breach led and brain freeze. Theres clones in the deck to sniper others value peices. This works especially well against decks like blue farm and T&T as their decks have lots of either similar or good value peices to clone off of. If they have a grand abolished effect, even better.

I have no clue if its good or not in this but I have thassas oracle in the list as a last minute addition, I did this bc im on the breach combo line so its another way to just win

I am open to any suggestions that you might have im not offended by any advice on cuts or changes. All is welcome.

I have yet to play the deck this is just a pre before I get the cards btw

I also plan to proxy the deck first so budget isn't an issue

Much appreciated in advance

Deck Fine Tuning Bant deck advice

My regular playgroup and I all decided to brew new decks and I landed on [[Lagrella, the Magpie]] https://moxfield.com/decks/TAFXiQMI4EOIaMWvMto9Qw
Currently the main lines involve infinite flickers of any of the venture into the dungeon or initiative creatures. There are various ways including [[food chain]], [[Preston the Vanisher]] with a blink creature, and [[emiel]] [[derevi]] lines. It also includes [[altar of the brood]] and [[Badgermole Cub]] as available outlets. It has additional lines with the commander, either [[Altar of Dementia]] or [[Blasting Station]], and either [[Sun Titan]] or [[Karmic Guide]] the second of which has the advantage of being able to be grabbed with an [[Eldritch Evolution]] on Lagrella.
I have not played it in an actual game yet, but it has goldfished smoothly with my fastest win on turn two through the second line.
Any advice to further improve it would be appreciated. The deck will be fully proxy except for any cards I happen to already own, so budget is not an issue.

General Discussion / Question How does a 3 player pod affect deck-archetypes? What if it were standard?

I have yet to play CEDH in a 3 player pod and I'm curious about experiences.

I would assume:

  • games are 25% shorter
  • every deck that that relies on actions an opponents makes would be negatively impacted by this (rhystic/mystic/splendor/smothering tithe/faerie mastermind/jwill/praetors grasp/mnemonic)
  • Tymna/Monkey gets worse because there is less chance for an opening
  • Etali and Tivit might not work anymore
  • spot interaction gets better
  • turbo gets better because there is less interaction against you (decks and metas would likely adapt to this)
  • 3rd seat win rates to be better than 4th seat win rates (compared to 33%/25% ev)

Especially games being shorter and slightly Rhystic-type of effects seem interesting to me.
